Chapter 2: Daniel Cures Heart Failure

Chapter 2

Daniel Cowell was startled when he saw the system's reward. Carter's Conglomerate was the biggest corporation with heterogeneous companies in Crownsville City, so owning a 50% share was huge!

Happily, Daniel thought to himself. “Since I'm now blessed, what then is the point of being sad about that bitch’s decision? Let me go and enjoy myself, then get myself some nice clothes."

Daniel Cowell quickly arranged his messy room, washed himself, and left the house.

Entering one of the best restaurants in Crownsville City, Daniel sat down. A waiter approached him with the restaurant's menu, and he selected a few dishes with a lot of meat, vegetables, and fish since they were things he loved.

Noting his order, the waiter hurriedly left and delivered it to the kitchen.

Soon, the food was served, and Daniel began to eat without a word.

After eating, Daniel relaxed a bit before heading to make payment. The meal totaled $100, which he casually paid.

However, as Daniel was leaving the restaurant entirely, his gaze shifted and caught something.

An old man, aged sixty years, had suddenly collapsed to the ground just as he was about to step out of the car. Within a minute, people had gathered around him, holding their heads helplessly.

The man's daughter, who had arrived here with him, had lowered herself to the old man's level, sobbing, tears streaming down her cheeks. “Grandpa! I told you, let's scrap visiting the restaurant today, but you wouldn't listen! Now, see…!” She complained bitterly before calling for help. "Please, help me, let's get him to the hospital! I can't lose him!"

Daniel frowned at the scene.

“Let me go and see."

As he approached, he was taken aback. “What happened?" He suddenly asked.

The young lady paused, wiped her eyes roughly as she looked at Daniel. She wanted to ignore Daniel totally because of his look; however, knowing she needed help at that moment, she replied.

“It’s my Grandpa! He has been suffering from heart failure for the past few years. We have taken him to the best hospitals that we know for treatment, but all to no avail. His condition keeps getting worse instead!”

She quickly explained with teary eyes. Then added. "This morning, he suggested I bring him to this restaurant, I initially disagreed, but later agreed, thinking it was going to make him feel better, neither did I know it was going to result to this."

She cried bitterly, angry with herself for the decision that she had made.

Henry stared helplessly.

Right there, he remembered something.

"System, is there anything that I can do?” He spoke in his mind, and it was instantly answered.

"Of course, Host!”

Daniel could barely ask ‘what’ when the system spoke again.

[Mission Detected!]

[Mission: Cure the Old Man's Heart Failure.]

[Reward: New Appearance.]

Daniel was dumbfounded. "So, can I really cure him?”

[Yeah, sure, Host!]

With that confirmation, Daniel turned and looked around; the people who were gathered were already dispersing; they were clearly irritated by Daniel's appearance.

With no eyes on him, Daniel spoke. “System, cure him."

Instantly, the old man gained consciousness and immediately stood up, his eyes bright.

"What happened to me, Ava?” He asked, puzzled, while examining his own body. "I feel completely different now. Who's the doctor who treated me?”

Then, he looked around to realize he wasn't in the hospital, but outside. His eyebrows furrowed. "How did that happen?”

On the other hand, his beautiful granddaughter, Ava, was taken aback at what she had just witnessed. “How did you do that?" She got up and asked Daniel with a shocked expression and in a curious tone.

However, as she looked at him, she noticed something strange. Daniel's appearance had changed; he was looking more attractive than before.

“What just happened to this young man?" Ava asked as she noticed the difference in the appearance of this young man she had seen earlier.

She wore a confused expression.

However, Daniel was oblivious to his own new appearance. Since he couldn't see his own face, he lacked awareness of how different he was looking now.

Not until….

[Ding! Mission Accomplished!]

[Congratulations, Host has received a reward:]

[Reward: New Appearance]

Then, Daniel knew something about him had changed, but he couldn't check it himself.

"Grandpa!” Ava quickly regained her senses as she faced her grandfather, cupping his face with both hands. "Are you okay? You collapsed a few minutes ago. I was about to take you to the hospital before this young man here…..”

She turned to point at the young man who had cured her grandpa, who was standing, but she suddenly froze at a spot.

The spot was empty.

She raised an eyebrow, confused. “Huh? Where is he? He was standing right there. Where did he disappear to?"

She couldn't see Daniel anymore, which left her in extreme bewilderment. At least, she wanted her grandfather to know him; maybe he could have been awarded since they were wealthy people. However, Daniel was nowhere to be found.
