Chapter 9: Daniel Buys a House

Chapter 9

Daniel and Ava arrived at the exact address that the house agent had given to Ava. After Daniel paid the taxi driver, the two of them stepped out of the car. Daniel raised his head and saw a man standing at a black gate. The man was wearing a black suit, dressed almost formally.

“Is that him?” Daniel asked, pointing at the man.

Ava’s gaze followed his finger, and her eyes landed on the man. “Yes, that’s him.” She nodded in confirmation.

“Let’s meet him then.”

Upon reaching where this man was standing, Ava quickly greeted him. “Good day, Mr. Luke.”

“Good day, Miss Ava,” the man named Luke replied. “It’s nice doing business again with you.” His gaze shifted toward the young man who had arrived with Ava, and he asked. “Is he the person who wants to buy the house?”

“Yes,” Ava answered before she quickly introduced him. “Daniel, meet Mr. Luke. He’s the house agent I told you about. He’s trustworthy, so you don’t have to fear anything. And Mr. Luke, meet Daniel; he’s a good friend of mine.”

Daniel was surprised by the way Ava introduced him. They had just met each other and hadn’t really spent enough time together, so how could she possibly call him that?

Anyway, Daniel snapped himself out of it, and Luke extended his hand, exchanging a brief handshake with Daniel. “Nice to meet you, Daniel. So, are you ready to see the house?” Luke asked softly.

“Yes, please.”

With a nod, Luke unlocked the gate, and they entered the house.

Upon arriving at the large room, Daniel was slightly taken aback, but he frowned at the same time. The place was good despite the dustiness on the wall and on almost all the objects.

Daniel stayed quiet, not quick to ask the question that was on his mind. He wanted the house agent to finish showing him around before he would ask his question.

“Please, come with me.”

Daniel and Ava followed right behind Luke as he took them around the place, showing and explaining every detail of the house to Daniel. Daniel and Ava exchanged glances from time to time as they quietly walked behind Luke as he kept showing them every part of the house.

Finally, Luke finished showing everything he thought was necessary to Daniel before they arrived back at the living room.

“As you can see, everything is in order, but there’s a little problem…”

Luke bit his lip, and he paused.

“What’s that?” Daniel asked immediately as he saw the look on Luke’s face.

Luke swallowed hard before he explained everything briefly to Daniel. When done, he added. “Once they know this house has been sold, they will start demanding money.”

Then Luke looked at Daniel and asked. “Are you still interested in buying?”

Daniel narrowed his eyes as if considering, and before he could give his answer, Ava quickly interrupted. “He won’t buy it. I don’t want to be the reason he will be in trouble. You should take us to a different one if you have---”

“Don’t worry, I’ll buy it,” Daniel interjected.

Ava glanced at him sharply. She had a surprised look. “Are you for real? Aren’t you afraid of these thugs? They are dangerous, and you should know that by now.”

Daniel knew Ava was speaking from a place of concern. However, he had already made up his mind.

“Don’t worry, okay?” Daniel replied with a smile before he turned to Luke. “So, how much is it for the house?”

Luke straightened his posture. Although he wore a worried expression for this young man who insisted on buying the house after everything he had just told him, Luke’s expression shifted.

He smiled. “Initially, it should have been sold at $30 million, but because of the incident at hand, it had been reduced to $25 million. That’s a whopping $5 million cut.”

Daniel didn’t argue. He took out his phone. “What’s your bank number?”

Luke knew this young man was really serious. Thus, he called out his bank number, and within a minute, he heard his phone beep. He checked and confirmed that the money had entered his bank account.

With that, Luke brought out the house ownership papers and put them on the table, then pointed to the signature column. “Please sign here.”

Daniel took the pen that was extended to him by Luke, lowered himself, and read the contents carefully before starting to sign the papers right at the column that Luke had instructed. It didn’t take long, and he was done.

He raised himself.

Luke looked at him with a smile before extending his hand for the second time since they had met. “Congratulations to you! You’re now the legal owner of this house.”

“Thank you for your help.” Daniel accepted the handshake while also appreciating Luke’s effort.

The handshake was brief.

Luke hesitated before saying. “I’ll leave you both now.” He didn’t fail to express his heartfelt gratitude to Ava before exiting, leaving Daniel and Ava all alone in the living room.
