Turning back to Anna, he forced his tone to soften and said somewhat awkwardly.

"I happened to have a vacant property, you can stay there for the meantime if you want to."

"Thank you very much, but I have to reject. We had barely known each other but you already did more than enough for me. I'm really grateful and satisfied, I don't want to bother you any more than I already did." She replied sincerely.

"It's not a bother to me, besides, I can't possibly let you go back to the street and walk aimlessly. no, I insist. The house is empty anyway if it's going to shelter someone in need, then it's not wasted." His voice was firm and left no room for argument.

Without waiting for her reply he strode towards the door. "Freshen up and get ready, I'm taking you there by myself." He declared before leaving the room.

"Miss, I think it's better you follow my boss. You have no place to go anyway, you can always leave anytime. Liam urged before leaving with the doctor to allow her freshen up.

The sunlight poured through the grand window of the luxurious hotel, casting a cascading golden hue. The presidential suite on the top floor had been abuzz since dawn. Yesterday’s banquet had ended with laughter, fine wine, and lavish compliments. But to Beatrice, today was just as important.

After all, how often could she flaunt the fact that her daughter had such a considerate and attentive suitor? He not only hosted a grand banquet but also reserved the most expensive suite in the hotel for her comfort. That was why she had invited her friends so early.

Beatrice sat proudly at a round table in the lounge, dressed in an expensive outfit that screamed elegance. Around her sat her friends, equally adorned in fine clothes and glittering jewelry.

They chatted animatedly, their words dripping with envy.

"Your daughter is really capable. Hosting her celebration in this hotel of all places? The entrance f*e alone is unaffordable for most people, yet she booked the presidential suite as if it were nothing," one of them said.

"Yes, unlike my son," another sighed, shaking her head. "He couldn’t even afford to take me to a simple dinner, let alone something as grand as this. Your daughter is truly filial."

Beatrice covered her mouth and laughed modestly, though inside she felt incredibly satisfied.

"Ah, you flatter me too much. Actually, it isn’t really my daughter’s doing. It was all thanks to her fiancé, Daniel. He insisted on making all these arrangements."

The women exchanged knowing looks. One of them grinned.

"So, Beatrice, did your daughter finally ditch that useless son-in-law and start seeing Daniel?”

The rest huddled closer, eager for the gossip.

Beatrice pretended to hesitate, lowering her eyes as if embarrassed by their attention. "Ehm, you could say so," she nodded.

That single nod was enough to set the table ablaze with chatter.

"What a blessing," one of her friends sneered. "Your daughter finally rid herself of that worthless man."

"Exactly. Now she can stand proud with Daniel by her side," another chimed in.

“Of course, Daniel really is a catch. Honestly Beatrice, your daughter upgraded big time. That your ex son-in-law? Hah, he was just a dead weight.” The friends all giggled together.

Beatrice nodded in agreement.

"He’s such a gem—hosting a banquet today, booking a suite tomorrow. What’s next? Don’t tell me he’s already prepared the wedding home?" a noble-looking woman among them joked, and the rest burst into laughter.

Beatrice could no longer hold back. Straightening her back proudly, she announced, "Yes, you are right. The wedding home has already been purchased. Would you ladies like to take a look? It’s upstairs." She beamed with pride.

"OMG,totaly yes! We can’t wait!" they said almost in unison. Excited, they grabbed their handbags and followed Beatrice upstairs.

"Daniel’s really impressive," one of them gushed. "So attentive."

"True, Beatrice hit the jackpot. I’d feel fortunate if my son-in-law cared even half as much.”

At the same time, somewhere else in the hotel…

Anna stood in the penthouse, her eyes wide as she slowly took in her grand surroundings. True luxury. She felt overwhelmed.

"This place…" she whispered nervously. "It’s perfect—the view, the location, everything." She raised her brows. "It feels too much for me," she muttered, feeling undeserving of such a place.

Mark watched her quietly, his hands folded behind him, his expression calm and composed. Seeing her hesitation, he spoke gently, his voice low and reassuring.

"It’s alright. You don’t need to worry so much. I’ve long admired your reputation and I’m very interested in your company. I looked into it before, and I must say, I was truly impressed by your work.

"I had wanted to invest earlier, but I never got the chance. If you’d like, consider this apartment part of my investment—so that when Sico Technologies rises again, I can share in its success." He smiled warmly, and his words brought a faint smile to Anna’s lips.

Her heart warmed. Ever since her bankruptcy, everyone had abandoned her—even her closest friends avoided her like the plague. It hurt deeply. Once, they had surrounded her, toasted her achievements, and flattered her success. Now, they had vanished as if they had never existed.

She had thought this would be her life from now on, alone and discarded. She never expected to meet someone who trusted her so deeply.

Silence settled between them as they walked toward the elevator. "Here," he said softly, handing her the keys. "If you ever need anything, call me."

She hesitated before reaching out, her fingers brushing his. She felt the warmth of his hand as he passed her the keys.

"Thank you. I’ve already received so much favor from you that I’d be embarrassed to ask for more. Thank you for being so kind to a stranger you barely know," she said sincerely.

They reached the elevator.

The elevator chimed, and the doors slid open. The scent of expensive perfume and the sound of laughter filled the air as Beatrice and her friends stepped out. Just as she lifted her gaze, her eyes landed on Mark—standing before them, waiting to enter.

Charlotte furrowed her brows. “What house are you talking about?”“The key card is right here,” she added quickly, fumbling through her purse until she pulled out a blue card. “I just wanted to check if anything was missing or out of place so I could start arranging things before you moved in. Who would’ve thought the door alarm would malfunction and bring in a whole squad of security guards treating us like thieves?”Daniel froze. He never imagined this foolish woman would take his casual words so literally. The key card he’d given her was just an old one he’d picked up from a cheap motel—and she had actually used it to open a door!He almost felt like crying. His mind raced like an engine as he tried to think of a way out of this.He forced a laugh and quickly snatched the card from Beatrice’s hand. “Oh, this is all my fault, not my mother-in-law's. Are you Mrs. Beatrice’s daughter?” the caller asked.“Yes, I am,” she replied, her stomach churning. 'Why are the police calling me? Could it be that the IPO has already made their move?' We came to see the apartment, remember? I can’t wait to see how grand it is inside.”Another laughed softly, nodding. “Exactly! Let’s just enjoy the place. No need to get carried away, we came for the bridal suite, not the drama.”“That’s right. How could I let them ruin the excitement? I’m sorry, sisters, I almost allowed that useless former son-in-law of mine to spoil our day. Come on, let’s go.” Beatrice waved her hand, urging them to follow her.“Right, here we are,” she said, stopping in front of the apartment door. The doors gleamed with gold-trimmed handles, flanked on both sides by tall, elegant potted plants whose deep green leaves shimmered beneath the warm glow of the lights.
