Anna woke up with a groggy headache. She glanced around the unfamiliar room. "Where is this?" she muttered, trying to sit up slowly.

Her eyes widened when she saw red marks on her body. Her clothes seemed to have been moved as well. "What happened?" She remembered being drugged.

"Those bastards… they actually violated me." Tears welled up as grief overwhelmed her.

Just then, the door opened and a man walked in. Without seeing his face, she grabbed a vase from the bedside and hurled it at him.

"Rapist! You animal! How dare you violate me? I’ll make sure you rot in prison!" she screamed.

Mark had just finished an important call and came to check on the woman he had saved when she attacked him. Luckily, his reflexes were sharp, and he dodged the vase.

With a sigh, he stepped closer to the bed.

"Calm down. I’m not your enemy. I didn’t do anything to you. I’m just helping. Now, try to remember what happened last night," he said, trying to prevent her from grabbing another vase.

"Last night?" she muttered, recalling events slowly. Her face flushed as recognition hit.

"It's you… I remember now. You saved me from the three thugs. I’m so sorry for just now," she said, embarrassed.

"No need to apologize. I understand," he replied, waving his hand casually.

But if she was knocked out by such a strong aphrodisiac before and is fine now, doesn’t that mean…

"You… Did you do anything to me?"Anna’s face turned pale as she stammered, realizing the truth."

Mark sighed again, too tired to explain further. His phone rang, and he answered.

"Hello, boss. I’m outside with the doctor," came Liam’s voice.

"Come in," Mark replied.

The door opened. A burly man without a mustache walked in, followed by a middle-aged doctor in white.

"Boss," the burly man greeted respectfully, making way for the doctor.

"Mr. Mark, it’s nice to meet you," the doctor said, without the usual airs of his profession. He walked straight to Anna, already informed about her condition.

"Please extend your hands so I can take your pulse," he said gently.

Anna, still processing the situation, complied.

Mark watched from the side while Liam poured him a glass of whiskey.

After a few moments, the doctor finished taking her pulse.

"She’s completely fine. It seems you removed all the toxins from her body. The situation is under control. She just needs to keep her wounds clean and dry, and she’ll recover in a few days," the doctor reported.

Mark nodded, setting his whiskey on a small table. He felt Anna’s gaze on him, waiting for an explanation.

"Nothing happened between us. To detoxify you, I had to use a secret technique. The red marks on your body are just traces left behind," he explained calmly.

Anna blushed.

"I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have doubted you," she said for the second time, embarrassed at having questioned her savior twice.

"Don’t worry. It’s nothing. I’m glad you’re alright now," Mark said, waving it off.

"Anyway, where do you live? I should escort you back," he asked suddenly.

Anna sighed. "I don’t have anywhere to go. I don’t have a home anymore," she said sadly.

Mark studied her carefully. Her aura was far from ordinary. Her fair skin and delicate features did not match someone without a home. Doubt crossed his mind.

Seeing his expression, Anna smiled bitterly and explained.

"I know it’s hard to believe, right?" she said, shaking her head. "I went bankrupt. I was once the CEO of Sico Technology, but after my company’s IPO failed, the investors pulled out, and I lost everything I owned." Her tone was full of pain.

Mark frowned, suddenly remembering something. To expedite another IPO, he had ordered Charlotte’s company to go through the VIP channel. If he recalled correctly, Sico Technology had been ahead of I-TECH Technologies, Charlotte’s company.

How could a delayed IPO alone destroy a company? He rubbed his cheek thoughtfully.

His gaze flicked to Liam, who was nervously wiping sweat. Mark’s frown deepened as realization dawned.

It must have been his people, eager to curry favor, who went too far. Instead of smoothing the process cleanly, they had sabotaged every company ahead of I-TECH, leaving destruction in their wake. Utter recklessness.

Mark shot to his feet. Liam rushed closer, eyes wide with fear. Mark’s voice dropped, heavy with authority, though restrained:

"Put everything back the way it was. Now. No excuses."

His voice was sharp and firm, leaving no room for disobedience. Liam bowed quickly.

"Yes, boss. Affirmative."

Mark nodded, then turned to Anna. His gaze softened. To think his actions had unintentionally ruined her life made him reflect. If he had known, he would have acted with far more care.

Charlotte furrowed her brows. “What house are you talking about?”“The key card is right here,” she added quickly, fumbling through her purse until she pulled out a blue card. “I just wanted to check if anything was missing or out of place so I could start arranging things before you moved in. Who would’ve thought the door alarm would malfunction and bring in a whole squad of security guards treating us like thieves?”Daniel froze. His mind raced like an engine as he tried to think of a way out of this.He forced a laugh and quickly snatched the card from Beatrice’s hand. “Oh, this is all my fault, not my mother-in-law's. Beatrice’s friends exchanged glances, their smiles turning stiff.Alright, alright,” the blonde said with a light laugh, patting Beatrice’s shoulder gently. “Don’t waste your breath on people like that. We came to see the apartment, remember? I can’t wait to see how grand it is inside.”Another laughed softly, nodding. “Exactly! Let’s just enjoy the place. No need to get carried away, we came for the bridal suite, not the drama.”“That’s right. How could I let them ruin the excitement? I’m sorry, sisters, I almost allowed that useless former son-in-law of mine to spoil our day. Come on, let’s go.” Beatrice waved her hand, urging them to follow her.“Right, here we are,” she said, stopping in front of the apartment door. The doors gleamed with gold-trimmed handles, flanked on both sides by tall, elegant potted plants whose deep green leaves shimmered beneath the warm glow of the lights.
