“I just came to take my belongings…” Brian explained, calm as the wind.
Pearl scoffed, and then she looked down at the belongings Brian talked about. “I think you should hurry and leave us. We don’t want you infecting us with your wretchedness.” The other ladies laughed, sneering as they watched Brian bend to gather his belongings. He held onto the bag and the picture tightly, and then he took a deep breath. Pearl stepped forward, and then she slid her hand into her purse. “Here…” She handed a cheque to Brian, disdain still glittering in her eyes. “That’s a cheque of one million dollars, Brian. That’s more than you will ever make in five years. Romeo was generous enough to give it to you. That should be enough for your troubles and keep you away from me forever.” “I don’t want your money,” Brian stated causing the ladies to gasp. Then they laughed, mockery laced in their amusement. “What an idiot!” Nelly grunted, disgust written all over her face. “How can you be broke and proud at the same time? You must think so highly of yourself. You’d better take the money and see if you can make something tangible out of your life.” Brian smiled, and then he exhaled sharply. “Keep it. You are the ones who will be needing it.” He looked at the ladies one after the other, but they clearly didn’t understand what he meant. “Take this…” Pearl broke the silence, and then she threw the second paper at him, causing it to land on his chest before dropping to the ground. “That’s the divorce paper, Brian. Sign it and leave my life. Never to return.” Brian sniggered, and then he picked up the paper, opening it to read the content. “Sign over there…” Pearl pointed, handing him that blue pen she had already taken out of her purse. Slowly, Brian lifted his face and looked her in the eyes. “No…” He whispered, causing Pearl to arch her brows. He went further to shred the paper into pieces, and loud awes erupted from the ladies, their eyes wide with shock. “How dare you do that, Brian?!” Lady Bianca sparked with rage, her eyes looking down at the pieces papers. Brian cleared his throat, still looking into Pearl’s eyes. “I will not grant you that freedom you so much wish for, Pearl. You would have to beg for it.” “What?!” Pearl grunted, anger sparking in her eyes. The pen she was holding fell out of her fingers as soon as she angrily pointed at Brian. “Don’t mess with me, Brian! You will regret it!” Brian laughed, causing her expression to drop, and so did those of the other ladies. “I am so scared!” Brian exclaimed, sarcasm laced in his tone. Then he grunted, replacing his smirk with a scowl. “You are the one who has messed up big time, Pearl. And you will live to regret it. All of you…” He took one last look at the ladies, and then he walked away, prompting them to look at him while he disappeared. They were all rendered speechless, but Pearl was desperate enough to drift back to consciousness. She took out her phone and made a call. “Hello, Romeo! He has refused to sign the goddamn papers!” She lamented, grunting in frustration. Meanwhile, Brian was already back on the road, speeding along the empty lane. The streetlights illumined his path, his fists holding tightly to the steering wheel. But barely ten kilometers from the Berry Villa vicinity, he saw some figures down the road. At first, he thought it was nothing, until he got closer and realized that the road had been blocked by some hoodlums. He recognized the three of them- Romeo’s thugs. They were certainly sent by him, each heavily built and standing with violence. Brian couldn’t drive through, they had blocked the road with their van. He was forced to stop, and then he alighted. He was enraged, his chest rising and falling at the same time. “Hello, Brian…” Their leader stepped forward, slowly shifting his leather jacket to reveal the dagger tucked inside his pants. “Boss said you have been a bad boy. He wants us to teach you a lesson.” “I see…” Brian scoffed, and then he took a deep breath. “Just the three of you?” He pointed, ridicule laced in his tone. The thugs looked at each other, and then they returned their gazes to Brian. “I see you’ve got a big mouth.” One of them broke the silence, turning to face their leader. “I think we should break all his bones, Jack. We will cut his tongue and feed it to him…” “Certainly…” Jack nodded, and then he stepped forward with annoyance on his face. “He talks too much.” Brian took a deep breath, and then he cleared his throat. “I suggest you leave before I change my mind. Tell Romeo that he needs more than three men to be able to beat me.” Jack gnashed his teeth, completely losing his patience. He advanced, lunging an attack at once. Brian caught his hand in the air, and then he buried his fist in his belly, causing him to sprawl to the ground. Jack’s subordinates were taken aback, drifting backward with wide eyes. They had become wary of Brian, staring at Jack who could barely move while he held onto his stomach, grunting and whimpering. “What the hell are you guys looking at?!” Jack fired, turning to his subordinates. “Get this motherfucker!” He ordered even in pain, but before they could make any move, the flashes of a car headlamp stopped them from a distance. “We need to leave! That could be the cops!” They panicked, grabbed Jack, and scrambled into their van. Brian watched them drive away, and then he turned around to look at the white stainless car approaching. It pulled to a stop right in front of him, the blinding lights causing him to shield his eyes with his hand. The next second, someone alighted, heels first before the rest of the body followed. “Is that a goddess?” Brian thought, his eyes almost gawking at the lady.Latest Chapter

“Are you really sure?” Brian had to ask for the umpteenth time, eyes on the young man standing before him.Alex nodded, then he took a deep breath.“You have asked me this same question countlessly, Brian. I am fine, you have to believe me.” He insisted, then a heavy sigh followed.“If you say so.” Brian retorted with a calm voice, nodding slowly.“It’s just that it's very hard to believe you, Alex. You look a mess…” He gestured to him, eyes keen with observation.“How is your father? The last time I inquired, you told me he was still in the hospital.”“Yeah…” Alex forced a smile, but he could barely hold onto it.“He is still in the hospital, but he is getting better…” He lied, voice unable to hold its grip.Brian stared at him without blinking, silently taking note of his unusual behavior. The tiny beads of sweat on his forehead, the inability to maintain eye contact, and even the fact that he was tapping his fingers in the air, something he did whenever he was nervous.“Are you sur
Blind Loyalty
“I am not sure.” Alex retorted with a low tone, taking a deep breath.“But from the little I heard from my father, I think it unlocks something very sacred to your family…”“Like a treasure?”“I think so…” Alex nodded, then he reached for his top drawer.Rebecca kept her eyes on him, watching as he took out a piece of paper with a drawing.“This is what the key looks like.” Alex slid the paper toward her, and she grabbed it, lifting it toward her face. Her eyes stared at the sketch, and even though it was far from perfect, she was able to note the structure and also the fact that it was ancient. That made her curiosity rise, her eyes returning to the Attorney.“How do I find this key, Alex? Any idea where it could be?”Alex’s expression fell, revealing the thought inside his head.Rebecca tutted, her eyes sparkling with annoyance.“Of what use are you exactly?” Her tone was hostile, her pupils constricted with anger.“You have not been of any help to me, Alex. I wonder why I am still

“I believe I have every right to get an answer from you…”“I am his daughter. His only child.” Rebecca fumed in rage, almost crushing her purse. Her flaming eyes were on the young man seated across the table, almost ready to consume him.“I am sorry, Miss Regal. But there is nothing I can do. I am just doing my job.” The young man explained, keeping a straight face.Rebecca snorted, her temper rising alongside her suspicion.“Did he put you up to this?”“Excuse me?” The man raised an eyebrow, bemusement in his eyes.“Who are you talking about?”“My nephew…” Rebecca took a deep breath. “Did he ask you not to tell me anything about my father’s Will?”The man looked away, then he cleared his throat.“Brian has nothing to do with this, Ma’am. I am just following due process. When the time is…”“I don’t care about any bloody process!” Rebecca slammed hard on the table, causing the man to flicker. She was still vibrating, bloodshot eyes firing arrows of contempt at the young man.She pointe
Raising a Progeny
“What trap?” Quan asked in a hurry, right brow arched.Charlotte chuckled softly, returning her gaze to him.She could see the impatience in the Minister’s eyes, but keeping people in suspense seemed to be one of her hobbies.“Did you really think I was willing to let him get all of that percentage in returns?” She retorted, mischief dazzling in her eyes.Quan huffed, a delightful smile on his face.“You bad girl!” He hailed her, refusing to get rid of his smile.“I’ve always known you to be a mastermind; I just knew that you had something up your sleeve.” He sniggered, then he cleared his throat.“Tell me, Charlotte. What are you up to? What’s your plan to get rid of him?” He was anxious to receive a response, his smile leaving some room for his curiosity.“I have a plan.” Charlotte sank into the space beside the Minister, then she unfolded her arms.“Like I said…” She turned to face the Minister, sinister smile intact.“He is walking into a trap, and as soon as we are done with the

“Who exactly do you think you are?” Quan was furious, standing before Brian and next to Charlotte. He ignored the silent gestures of the lady, pleading with him to be calm.“Who told you that you could walk out on us? In the meeting of a meeting?”“I didn’t just walk out, Minister Quan. I excused myself. I already told Miss Walker the reason why I need to go home. We can always have this meeting some other time, and at a more convenient hour.”Charlotte tried to avoid Brian’s eyes, but they caught up with her before she could escape the glance. She knew exactly what that look meant, but being aware that saying anything could fuel the Minister’s rage made her resist the urge to speak. She could feel her heart beating faster, enveloped by the tension hanging in the midst of the two men.“I am doing you a huge favor, Mr. Regal. What I am offering you is a lifetime opportunity. Owning over five hundred oil wells is a rare privilege. You should be on your knees, begging me to give you this

Charlotte parted her lips, but when it was time for her to speak, it seemed as though her voice had been frozen. She blinked several times, then she surrendered her weakness to her sister.“Mr. Regal?” Elma stepped in at once, putting on a smile that was meant to be alluring.“Trust me, I understand your concerns. But pulling these strings was very difficult for us, especially getting the Minister to be on board with this. He is taking a high risk, and mind you, if this project fails, we would be owing the Government a huge amount of money. The people could also come for us for destroying public property.”Brian scoffed, causing the lady to stay silent.Elma took a deep breath, and when that was not enough, she let it out at once, bending her face to the ground.Brian faced the Minister, his stoic expression unwavering.“Miss Walker here told me that the Government has abandoned these oil wells for years. Now that we have decided to develop them, they suddenly remember that they belon
