Chapter 1
PROLOGUE
Eighteen Years Ago
The night was dark and loud, clouds covering the moon. A hooded figure ran fast through the empty streets, clutching something close. Behind them came the sound of growls and scratching. Shadows moved. Not normal shadows—these ones had shape, claws, teeth, and glowing red eyes. The monsters hissed and growled as they followed. Their bodies stretched and bent in strange ways, like nightmares crawling out of the dark.
The figure held a baby tight to their chest. The baby whimpered, small cries mixing with the night air.
“Shh… please, not now,” the figure whispered, voice shaking.
Their boots hit the cobblestones hard—thud, thud, thud. Every sound reminded them that the monsters were still close, still chasing, still hungry. The baby stirred, crying louder now.
Finally, the figure reached a narrow alley, one that ended in a stone wall. They stopped and raised a hand. A weak glowing wall of light appeared, blocking the alley's entrance. The shadow monsters slammed against it immediately, screeching. Their claws scratched and sparked, and their glowing eyes shone through the barrier. The barrier shook. It wouldn’t hold for long.
The figure looked down at the baby, their face hidden under the hood. “I don’t have time… I’m sorry.”With trembling fingers, they pulled out a jade pendant from inside their cloak. It looked plain, old, and worn out.
Kneeling, they held it above the baby.
“I’m sorry, little one,” the figure said softly, “but this is the only way to keep you safe.”
The baby whimpered, tiny fists waving in the air.
The pendant lit up, brighter and brighter as the figure spoke ancient words. The child let out a loud, pained cry.
Suddenly, a radiant light burst forth. The baby cried louder as glowing lines of energy like fragments of a soul rose from the infant’s chest and seeped into the jade.
Crack!
A sharp line split across the pendant, glowing like fire before fading into silver.
“It worked,” the figure gasped, their voice full of relief. But then they stared as new cracks appeared, and their relief turned to fear. “But… the seal is weak.”
Still, there was no time. The barrier at the alley entrance shook violently.
They quickly tied the pendant around the baby’s neck. The glow faded until it looked like nothing more than an old, broken necklace.
“You’ll be safe now,” the figure whispered, tears rolling down. They kissed the baby’s forehead through the blanket. One day, when the time comes, your power will awaken and fate will take it's course. And when it does… the world will remember you.”
With careful hands, they placed the child on the doorstep of a small house, tucked safely against the door, brushed its cheek one last time, and turned away.
Almost immediately, the barrier shattered. The monsters roared.
Without looking back, the hooded figure ran back into the night, leading the shadows away.
The baby stayed, quiet at last, the cracked jade pendant on its neck glowing once… then going dim.

The Triple-D Failure Rises To Power CHAPTER 9: Shadows On The Train
“Next stop—Hazelcross Station.”The voice from the train speaker crackled, pulling Eren from his half-asleep daze. He blinked at the window, watching the blurred lights of the city streak past. It was already late, and only a few passengers remained. A woman slept near the front, her head against the glass, and an old man read a newspaper two seats away. Everything felt quiet. Peaceful.Eren exhaled and rubbed his eyes. “Just one more stop,” he muttered. “Then home.”The lights shook once. Twice. Then, with a low hum, went out completely. The train screeched to a halt. Silence filled the air. Darkness covered everything. The passengers looked around, confused.Eren frowned and stood up. “What’s going on?”A sound came from the end of the carriage. A soft scraping, like claws dragging against metal. Then another. Eren’s eyes darted toward the noise. The darkness seemed to move, thick and alive. From beneath the seats, shadows began to crawl, shaping into long, twisted figures with glow

The Triple-D Failure Rises To Power CHAPTER 7: The Awakening

The Triple-D Failure Rises To Power CHAPTER 6: Betrayal
“Hold up… what’s that sound?” Eren whispered. The group had been walking through a long corridor inside the Shadowfold, the walls wet and black like ink. Then suddenly, the hallway ahead opened into a strange hall. Torches flickered on the walls, casting orange light over the stone floor.Shh… stop walking.”Lyra held her hand up, her fiery eyes narrowing as she listened. The group stopped. In the middle of the hall sat a tiny child, knees hugged to its chest, crying softly.“Is that… a kid?” Serena asked, her eyes wide.Silver snorted. “What’s a kid doing here? Probably some lost brat from another test.”“That’s not possible,” Lyra muttered, eyes narrowing. “This is a C-ranked Shadowfold. No ordinary child can be here.”“No,” Eren said, voice low. “Something’s wrong. This doesn’t feel right.”Lyra nodded. “I agree with Eren. This feels like a trap. ”Silver rolled his eyes. “You two are paranoid.” He shoved Carid, the nerdy C-rank medic from his group. “Hey, Carid. Go check it out.”

The Triple-D Failure Rises To Power CHAPTER 5 – Into the Shadows
“Yo, did you hear? The Triple-D Failure actually thought he had a shot at Serena!”The hallways of Lumeris Academy buzzed with cruel laughter. It had been two days since that night, and still, the story spread like wildfire.“Bro legit tried to kiss her right in front of Darius. Can you believe that?”“Man’s bold for a loser.”“More like stupid.”Another crumpled note hit Eren’s back as he opened his locker. Scrawled across the metal in red paint were words that stung worse than fists:LOSER. FAILURE. DOG. PERVERT. WEAK.His chest felt tight. He wanted to scream, to fight back—but his throat stayed closed. Always closed.Even in class, the whispers never stopped. Remarks were tossed his way like knives, each one getting a laugh.“Don’t sit too close. He might drool on you.”“Careful, he might think you’re into him.”Everyone laughed. Everyone… except Lyra. She didn’t laugh, didn’t join in, didn’t even smirk. Sometimes, Eren caught her looking at him with something almost like… anger?

The Triple-D Failure Rises To Power CHAPTER 4: The Cruel Setup
The apartment was small, old, and cracked in places, but it was home. Helena had taken him in from the orphanage when he was seven, raising him with nothing but love and patience. She wasn’t rich, but she had given him everything she could. And Eren adored her for it.“Mom,” Eren said, standing by the small dining table. “I… I won’t be having dinner tonight.”Helena looked up from the pot she was stirring, her grey-streaked hair tied back in a messy bun. She raised a brow, wiping her hands on her apron. “Oh? And why’s that? You finally planning to eat outside?”Eren scratched the back of his neck, cheeks burning. “Um… yeah. Something like that.”Helena smirked, crossing her arms. “Don’t tell me… you’re going on a date.”His face went red instantly. “M-mom!”She laughed, shaking her head. “I knew it. Look at you blushing. So, who’s the lucky girl?”Eren hesitated, then whispered, “Serena Arclight.”Helena’s smile faded a little. She knew the name. Everyone in the neighborhood did. “Tha
