6. A good influence

Kaiden didn't care about the others, he just focused on himself. He knew the others were laughing at him, including someone he was familiar with.

He was Fabiano, the son of the owner of the resort near the beach, and Kaiden's previous classmate.

Bian, as he was usually called, was the class president who was known to be very kind and considerate to all students. However, not many people knew that Bian was actually still part of the school thugs who liked to bully other students.

Bian does maintain his image, lest his parents know that he likes to bully other students, likes to smoke, skip school, and other juvenile delinquencies.

He did look very handsome and like a good guy, but the truth was the opposite.

Kaiden clearly didn't like Bian, as he often bullied Kaiden at school. Then Bian and his friends threatened Kaiden not to tell anyone after being bullied. Kaiden had a lot of trouble because of them.

Once he almost broke his leg because he was beaten by them, but fortunately Kaiden got treatment on time.

Kaiden also had to be punished by the teacher because his assignment book was hidden by Bian and his friends.

Surprisingly, many girls liked them, saying they were very handsome and cool.

Well, Kaiden felt he was far from handsome and cool when compared to Bian.

Kaiden glanced back at Bian who was laughing at Kaiden with his friend whom Kaiden didn't recognize.

Then the shop owner came over and explained. He said the competition would use social media. So they would be photographed wearing clothes from the shop being promoted, then, the photo that had the best response would be chosen.

The winner would be the store's model for a year and would get paid well, and would also get some clothes as gifts.

Kaiden didn't really listen because he was so nervous.

Afterward they were given one outfit to take pictures in, the photographer was also ready with his camera.

Whether it was just Kaiden's feelings or what, he got the worst outfit that the others didn't like. But since there was no other choice, Kaiden just wore what was available.

"After taking pictures, you can come back tomorrow to find out the winner." said the shop owner.

Kaiden thought everyone would wait until tomorrow, but it turned out that the photographer chose who he could photograph and post on social media. Some people just lost and had to return the shop clothes they were wearing. They also swore rudely, making Kaiden shudder.

When it was Kaiden's turn, Bian, who had qualified early and was just waiting for the announcement tomorrow, came up to Kaiden and tapped him on the shoulder, saying.

"You can't possibly pass the photographer's criteria, so if you're told to go home, don't cry, okay?" Bian said, then laughed loudly and walked out of the room.

Kaiden was the last one, and the photographer's tired face made Kaiden's courage shrink.

Kaiden slowly approached the photographer, then he paused in front of the man and smiled awkwardly.

"Will I be told to go home? I entered this competition just so I could qualify, then I could buy clothes at a discount, but if I don't qualify-"

"Here he is! Look at this young man!"

Kaiden was startled by the photographer's shout, he didn't expect the photographer's face to brighten instantly upon seeing Kaiden.

"That's right, I've seen this young man from the start, he's exactly my type," said the shop owner.

"Please stand there and pose," said the photographer, already ready with his camera.

"Does this mean I'm off the hook and can buy clothes at a discount?" Kaiden asked.

"No, you can choose a few pieces of clothing and take them with you for free, just don't forget to come back tomorrow," said the shop owner.

Kaiden was happy to hear that, it meant he had passed, right? He would also get free clothes, even though he hadn't won.

After doing a few poses at the photographer's direction, Kaiden was accompanied by the shop owner to get his free clothes.

The store employee who had previously looked down on Kaiden could only gawk in disbelief, he also couldn't believe Kaiden could turn so handsome just for a change of better clothes.

Although at first glance the clothes were ordinary, but after Kaiden wore them, they became very good-looking. Some customers who saw Kaiden immediately asked the shop staff to get similar clothes.

Thanks to Kaiden, several pieces of clothing that were previously unsold are now almost sold out.

Of course the shop owner was very happy, he felt he had found a diamond from a mud puddle.

Kaiden hadn't expected the owner of such a large fashion store to be waiting for him.

Kaiden immediately looked for a hiding place to store all his clothes in the storage system for safety, and he also checked the money he'd gotten.

"This much already, amazing," Kaiden muttered.

Knowing that, Kaiden excitedly went looking for a store that sold the latest and most advanced smartphones.

There was a big store not far away, selling the latest and greatest gadgets.

One of the store clerks was Kaiden's old schoolmate, and she smiled at first to greet Kaiden who looked cool in his new clothes. But that friendly smile turned into a sneer when she found out it was Kaiden.

"I thought a customer with a lot of money was coming, but it turned out to be a hobo, I heard you were beaten up because of your family debt huh? Haha, it's surprising to know you're still okay," said the girl, Citra.

Kaiden just smiled bitterly at that, because the girl wasn't wrong either. He himself was surprised to be alive, even helped by a system that came out of nowhere.

"I want to buy a smartphone," Kaiden said to the point.

Citra clucked lazily, then showed him some used smartphones.

"These are the cheapest and best, they range from 200$ to 500$, for you, this one might be more suitable, it came out a few years ago but it's still good, it just has a little problem with the screen, it's only 150$, here!" The ignorant girl handed over the worst and most used smartphone. Although the smartphone was in pretty good condition, it was clear Kaiden had to buy the latest and greatest smartphone.

"No, I'm going to buy the newest and best-" Kaiden's speech was cut short when he heard Citra laughing at him.

"You? Want to buy the newest one? How could you possibly have 1500$? Even if you did, you'd have stolen it from somewhere!"

Citra's words really hurt Kaiden's heart.

"Hey, what's going on? Is he your friend?" Another employee came in, she was also a girl and looked more friendly.

Citra rolled her eyes in disgust, "of course not, you can serve him, be careful not to let him steal." Citra said curtly, before leaving to greet another customer.

The wavy blonde girl who had just arrived smiled sweetly at Kaiden.

"Hi! Can I help you? Are you looking for the latest smartphone?" The girl said.

Kaiden also smiled and nodded, "right, give me the newest and best one, no matter the price."

"Alright, how much budget do you have?"

Kaiden shook his head, "no matter the price, I'll buy it in cash."

The blonde girl smiled broadly, then took out the latest smartphone that people were talking about.
