5. Look like a hobo

Mr. Randy is the owner of the restaurant, he is the father of Robby, his second son, who is a chef in his restaurant and will one day inherit the restaurant business.

But it cannot be denied that Robby is very lacking and has a lot to learn. Especially after knowing that Robby fired and beat Kaiden just because he was jealous of Kaiden.

Randy really couldn't understand what made his son jealous, who had never been in trouble in his life, from Kaiden, who had been miserable since childhood. It made no sense to Randy.

He was currently facing the two boys in his room. One was very haughty, unwilling to admit he was wrong, though now looking somewhat frightened. The other looked very resigned, but there was no look of fear on his face that Randy could see. Kaiden wouldn't be afraid if he wasn't wrong.

"So you took it for granted when Robby fired you, then you wanted to leave, but then Robby beat you up?" Asked Randy, he briefly glanced at his son Robby, his eyes showing that he was scared.

Kaiden nodded, even though he had just been beaten to a pulp, he was still able to smile that sincerely at Randy. Of course Randy had a reason why he liked Kaiden so much.

Kaiden was a young man who did not give up, his desire to learn was high, and he was not ashamed to do any work. When he first entered, Kaiden didn't know anything about the kitchen, but Randy taught him many things, and Kaiden could easily learn everything. In fact, Kaiden was very happy to learn.

"Right sir, I'm fine, because I actually came here to tell you that I want to stop working from today onwards." Kaiden said.

Randy was naturally surprised to hear that, "but why? I heard you just got out of the hospital from being beaten up by those thugs, and now you want to quit your job?"

Kaiden nodded, "Yes, I want to try my hand at small business, it may sound frivolous, but I've always wanted to run my own business. I know it's not easy, but if I don't try now, I'll never get ahead."

It wasn't just Randy, Robby was intrigued by Kaiden's words. Robby didn't think Kaiden could say something like that, even though Kaiden didn't have anything.

"But to do business you need capital, do you have money? You can't even pay your debts," Robby said.

Randy cleared his throat, indicating that Robby should remain silent. Knowing that, Robby bowed his head.

"Don't listen to Robby's words, you have to want to move forward and never give up," said Randy.

"Actually there is someone who helps me, he has a lot of coconut trees in his garden, and I want to sell young coconuts, so he helped me." Kaiden replied.

Randy was relieved to hear Kaiden's words, "thank goodness if someone helps you, I won't keep you here, you can leave, but if there is anything happen to you later, you can contact me. This is severance pay for you, because you have been working well," Randy took out an envelope from his pocket. He had prepared it to help Kaiden, but he didn't expect Kaiden to want to quit his job.

Kaiden accepted the envelope and thanked him, after which he excused himself.

Randy asked his son to apologize, Robby did, but Kaiden knew Robby wasn't sincere. Even so, Kaiden accepted the apology.

Kaiden put the envelope from Randy into the storage box.

Of course Kaiden was surprised, because that's a lot of money. How could Randy give that much severance pay?

Kaiden went back to see Randy, but Randy was alone and checking some financial reports and stuff, and he looked like he had a headache. But Kaiden went to see him anyway.

"Sir, I think your severance pay is too much," Kaiden said.

Randy chuckled, "You're making it up, I did prepare that money for you, just think of the rest as pocket money. Doesn't the old usually give pocket money to the young? Just accept the money, Kaiden."

Kaiden couldn't resist anymore, so he went back to get his bike, which was already broken.

"I thought my bike was fine..." Kaiden muttered.

Kaiden didn't know how long it had been since his bike had been broken and could no longer be helped. It was the only vehicle he had.

Indeed, besides Robby, there were other restaurant employees who didn't like Kaiden. Zack was the only one who was nice to him.

It was okay, Kaiden could walk. Even though the footwear he was wearing was just sandals that were worn out and almost broken, he could still wear them.

As he walked, people looked at him with different expressions. Some pity him, some insult him, and some even openly insult him in a loud voice with his friends, then they laugh at Kaiden.

Later that day Kaiden looked in the mirror in front of a men's clothing store where one piece of clothing was very expensive. The cheapest one piece probably cost around 500$.

Kaiden was surprised that he looked like a hobo, even though he was wearing the best clothes he had, even though they were cheap. But it seems that thanks to the fight with Robby, Kaiden's clothes got dirty and he looked scruffy.

Kaiden thought he was quite handsome, but his good looks were covered up by his hobo appearance.

This is sad.

Of course Kaiden was tempted by the money. If the money Kaiden got from Randy was combined with today's prize money, the total would be 1,800$ and Kaiden could buy clothes and shoes with that money.

Fired up, Kaiden entered the clothing store. Kaiden's eyes were immediately drawn to the promo banner displayed in front of the door.

The banner said that if anyone was interested in modeling for their clothing brand temporarily, they would receive a set of fashionable clothes, pants, and shoes. The price for the original set is 2500$, but if you model, you only pay 800$.

"It looks like you entered the store by mistake, if there's nothing you can buy, then you can leave the store," said one of the clerks, in a gentle tone but the words she spoke were very rude to Kaiden.

"Sorry, but I have money and I want to join that one!" Kaiden pointed at the banner he had just read carefully.

The female employee laughed at Kaiden's words.

Kaiden turned quickly to her, "Is there something wrong?" Kaiden asked.

The female employee shook her head, "no, you can go there, just try to beat the other customers, if you win and get lucky, you can become a model for a while."

The female employee clearly looked down on Kaiden, she didn't even bother to smile kindly at Kaiden, her face was very stern. She left immediately after pointing out the place Kaiden should enter.

Kaiden, not wanting to make a fuss, thanked her and entered the door.

It turned out that there were about five other people waiting to be selected, all of them clean-looking, with nice and neat clothes. A far cry from Kaiden's messy appearance.

Some of them were secretly laughing at Kaiden, others were laughing openly.

"Do you want to come as a temporary model?" Asked someone familiar to Kaiden.

"Yes," Kaiden replied briefly.

But, that short answer made the other participants laugh immediately as if Kaiden's words were a joke.
