The teenagers whistled to see who was helping Cassian. It turned out to be Elara, dressed in a suit that highlighted her figure. She did not make a friendly expression to the teenagers, but they still tried to tease her.

One of the youths winked at her. "Sexy and nice too. How about we have a cup of coffee together, Mommy?"

His friends giggled. They did not think Elara was dangerous since this cafe was not a hangout for influential rich people.

The guy who flirted with Elara was Maverick. His father owned a lot of property in Lumithorn. He had influence in this city, so he was unafraid of anyone.

"Are you playing hard to get?" Maverick was not happy that Elara was ignoring him. He was offended that she was paying more attention to Cassian.

"You're going to let her be arrogant?" His friend whispered, trying to provoke him. "You're not going to jail just for hitting a woman, are you?"

Maverick smirked. His juvenile delinquency had gotten him arrested by the police a few times. But thanks to his father's money, he got off scot-free.

"Woman, I'll give you a chance. If you answer me quickly, I won't do anything bad to you."

Elara still ignored Maverick. She returned the stick to Cassian and helped him stand up properly.

The customers in the cafe did not pay the slightest attention to Cassian even though they knew he was being bullied. They recognized Maverick was a rich kid who liked to cause trouble around here, so they decided to avoid confronting him.

"You fucking arrogant!" Maverick shouted angrily, intending to slap Elara's face.

But with lightning speed, Elara caught Maverick's wrist and twisted it. Her expression stayed neutral as the young man cried out in pain.

Seeing that, his friends were stunned because they did not expect Elara to have such good reflexes.

Maverick tried to remove his hand from Elara but failed. He shouted to his friends, "What are you doing? Hurry up and hit this woman! She's just lucky to avoid my attack."

His friends did not hesitate to attack Elara because they thought she was lucky. They had already made the wrong move by dealing with the best soldier in Walteria's military.

In seconds, Elara had the teenagers thrown to the floor. She forced them to their knees before her.

"Look, kids, I can do worse than this. But I'm showing you mercy since I'm not on the battlefield!"

Cassian watched the situation silently, not knowing who was helping him. But after hearing Elara's voice, he knew it was his assistant.

The teenagers were trembling with fear. They did not fight any woman; she was a soldier!

Elara's identity also shocked the customers. No wonder she dared to beat up the teenagers regardless of their backgrounds.

"P-Please forgive us. We didn't know you were a soldier!"

Elara snorted. "Brats, don't you realize what you've done wrong? Apologize to this man!"

Without waiting for long, the teenagers rushed to hug Cassian's legs.

"Sir, we're guilty of playing tricks on you!"

"We are young, so please forgive us."

"We won't do it again."

They apologized fearfully because the position of soldiers was so strong in the country for the time being. People respected those who had created peace. Maverick's father would not want to deal with soldiers to protect his troublemaking son.

"I forgive you as long as you don't cause trouble again. If I hear you troubling people, I won't tolerate it."

Cassian did not want to prolong the matter of forgiving the teenagers, who immediately ran away. He had a more important problem: Elara's unexpected presence.

"Why are you here? You should be in the capital enjoying the rewarding ceremony."

Elara replied with teary eyes, "How could I leave you? I am your assistant. Just look at those brats bothering you!"

"Those kinds of people are everywhere."

"But where is your wife? She should be helping you at a time like this."

With a wry smile, Cassian explained, "Aveline divorced me. We don't have any relationship anymore."

Elara had only arrived at the café moments ago, so she had no idea what had happened between Cassian and Aveline. She was furious with Aveline's disrespectful behavior.

"She's completely out of line! I can't allow this. Let me take your revenge on her!"

Cassian shook his head. "Instead of that, we have something more important to do."

"What's that?"

"You will find out when we get to Victory Hills."

Although Cassian did not give a detailed explanation, Elara swiftly escorted him to Victory Hills. It was the most expensive and noble community in the city.

Only certain people had access to it. Because of this, the guards directly stopped Cassian and Elara. There was no way a member of Victory Hills would be driving a cheap car.

Elara and Cassian had to get out of the car. She asked the guards kindly, "Is something wrong?"

The guards were mesmerized by Elara's curvy body. They started thinking of dirty things, which made them end up teasing her.

"Miss, I'm better than this blind man," a guard sneered at Cassian when he realized he was blind. "If you can satisfy me, I will consider you to enter Victory Hills."

Elara gritted her teeth in annoyance and almost hit the giggling guards. But Cassian quickly restrained her.

"Don't act disrespectful. I have this," Cassian pulled out an access card.

Instead of trying the card on the gate, the guards mocked him.

"Not only is this guy blind, he's also crazy!"

"Where did he get that fake card? It's almost identical to the real one."

"This villa is only accessible to the rich in Lumithorn. There's no way a blind man driving a cheap car would have access to Victory Hills!"

As Cassian and Elara still did not leave, the guards became annoyed.

"Miss, please take this crazy man home if you have no intention of having fun with us. Leave right now before we use violence!" the security team captain threatened.

Cassian ignored the threat and made a call instead. His actions infuriated the guards.

They were not messing around with the threat. Since Cassian disobeyed them, they pulled out their batons to destroy his car.

"Take care of them!" Cassian gave Elara a short order.

The guards laughed, thinking Elara was no match for them. Victory Hills' security team had special training. How could they lose to a woman?

Elara set up her stance and smiled mockingly. Seeing her arrogant attitude, the guards did not hesitate to throw their baton attacks at her.

They could not see what happened next. Elara dodged the guards' attacks effortlessly, grabbed their batons, and knocked them to the ground.

"How can the most expensive community in the city have such a weak security team?" she thumped her chest, glaring scornfully at the guards.

They were terrified that Elara was stronger than their trainer. But the captain could not lose his pride so easily.

He yelled, "You will be crushed when the community administrator comes! Don't think you've won just because you beat us!"

"Is that so?" Elara grinned sarcastically.

The captain clenched an angry fist and took a walkie-talkie to contact the administrator. But he saw a man running toward the gate.

He beamed because it was Ace, the administrator. "Your lives are over. The administrator is coming!"

The guards were glad with Ace's appearance at the gate. They thought he came because he knew there was a crazy man causing trouble.

But Ace did not even glance at the security team once. He ran hurriedly towards Cassian and knelt to him.

"Sir, what are you doing?" asked the captain in confusion.

"Shut up!" Ace glared furiously. His expression became pitiful as he looked at Cassian. "Please show kindness to the guards of our community. They don't realize who you are!"

The guards were dumbfounded by Ace's attitude. As an administrator, he clearly had the power in Lumithorn to be entrusted with managing Victory Hills.

But who was Cassian to bring Ace to his knees?

"You can still be with me while caring for your family's business. I don't mind that," Cassian replied with slight confusion."I know," Elara tightened her grip on his hand. "But I want to follow you wherever you go, without thinking about anything else.""Still, they're your family. You don't have to go that far just for me.""We can build a family of our own in the future. Besides, I want to be the place you come home to. I saw you when you stepped down from that stage alone, Cassian. Can't we be home for each other?"Cassian fell silent. He did not expect Elara to leave her family to be with him. As someone who had lost his parents at a young age, he could not agree with her decision to walk away from Samuel and Hannah. But at the same time, his heart softened when she spoke about home. He did not really have one. There was no place in this world to which he truly belonged. The elders were there because he was the last descendant of the Valoric bloodline. The soldiers respected him

Hannah hugged Elara tightly, knowing she would rarely see her again. Whether her daughter was returning to the military or following Cassian to a faraway place, Elara would not be around much anymore."You've grown stronger than I ever imagined. May every step you take be guided by the strength I see in you!" she said, holding Elara even tighter."Thank you for everything, Dad and Mom," Elara wiped the tears that had welled up in her eyes. "I will cut all ties with our family because I love you. I don't want bad people to target you, so I'm sorry if I can't see you again later.""It's alright, Sweetheart. We had already prepared ourselves for the day you would leave to chase what you truly want," Samuel replied, hugging both Hannah and Elara. He kissed his daughter's forehead several times, just like he used to when she was a baby. When he first held Elara in his arms, he felt like he never wanted to let her go. But as time passed, he understood that one day, he had to."I will come t

  • Chapter 463

Elara watched Cassian from a distance, her smile growing with every second. Before he became a Commander, he never seemed to contact his family like the other soldiers regularly did. He also rarely took any days off, as if he had no home to return to.Out of concern, Elara had gently asked him about his family. The answer he gave was, "I can't contact anyone in my family yet because I need to prove myself first. It's not something you need to worry about. I'm sure I can make them acknowledge me!"But even after he became a Commander, Elara never saw him contact his family to "celebrate" his taking over the military. He had sent a few messages to a mysterious number about his progress, but not to rejoice. The elders had high expectations for Cassian since he was the only one left from the Valoric family. But when Elara saw how they interacted now, she knew the elders truly cared about Cassian. She also believed Cassian felt the same toward them because he worked so hard to make them pr

  • Chapter 462

Cassian stopped in his tracks when the five elders walked toward him. He had planned to visit them after this victory because GPC would try to arrest him. However, their presence at the border was a surprise. They rarely appeared in public unless it was related to Valoric. Right now, Cassian was not announcing to the world that he was the last remaining descendant of that legendary family. In other words, the elders actually had no reason to be here."Are you alright, son?" Wendell reached out his hand as he stood in front of Cassian. That simple gesture brought Cassian back to the moment he survived the destruction of his family. Back then, Wendell had asked him the same question while carrying him away. He cried for weeks after losing his parents at such a young age.The elders knew little about caring for a child, so they would only feed Cassian when he cried. His lips twitched, holding back a laugh as he remembered how Elowen and Clarissa had tried to be substitute mothers for him

The chosen soldiers waited at the border shore, standing tall as they looked straight at the sea. The sun had already set, and the lights that had been installed only illuminated a small area. The border was extremely dark, surrounded by mountains on every side. The smell of blood still lingered in the air, a sign that the infiltration attempt by the Narman troops had taken place not long ago. All of them had been defeated by the soldiers of Weltaria when they tried to force their way in. A large-scale war was avoided thanks to that duel.In the previous war, Arlo had refused the challenge of a duel because he held complete control over his country. But this time, it was different, as even his own people had grown tired of being used by him. As a result, the ongoing conflict was prevented and ended in less than three days."Everyone, get ready!" Ruth shouted when Weltaria's fleets were seen approaching the border. All the soldiers immediately stood at attention and saluted in unison.

Their eyes stayed glued to the screen, stunned by the intensity of the fight between the two.It took a while before they were truly sure that Cassian had won. Grand General Ruth immediately broadcast the news to all media outlets in the country to assure everyone that the situation was safe.Once Cassian's victory was confirmed, everyone rushed out to make sure they were really safe. Soldiers remained on guard at every post but knew they would not need to use their weapons."The Commander defeated Emperor Arlo in a fair fight! No one will doubt his victory!" shouted a woman, throwing flowers she had picked from the garden toward the crowd."So we're safe now?" a little boy looked up hesitantly at his father. "I read in the news that Narman would not attack again because of the peace agreement. But they still did!"Ruth, who happened to be mingling
