CHAPTER SEVEN
“Oh. Is that so?” Caspian didn’t look like he had any form of impression on his face. He turned to Liora and took a deep breath. Seraphina didn’t seem to be bothered by them. She simply walked up to Lucian with a smile. “I need you to accommodate me to the Sovereign Castle.” “Why?” Lucian asked, making a turn. Caspian laughed, and Liora joined him shortly, certain that she knew exactly what was funny. “The Peasant thinks he is now mighty!” He sneered, pointing at him with disdain. He turned to Seraphina and took a deep breath. “Don’t bother with him. He is undeserving of such honor.” Again, Seraphina ignored them, her eyes still on Lucian. “Please, my father wants to see you. He wants to see the man who saved me.” She examined, pleading even with her eyes. Lucian suddenly felt the need to leave that place, and after a quick thought, he nodded. The lady led the way at once, out of the Auction house. “We are going to meet the Emperor’s right-hand man. General Hector.” Seraphina said while they were on their way, and that sounded like a warning. Lucian didn’t have any problem with that, not until they finally arrived at the Sovereign castle. He set his eyes on the three men, seated in council and awaiting their arrival. The General and the two elders with him sat with their eyes on them, then the oldest Enzo spoke. “Welcome. You must be Lucian. The one who saved Elder Ivan’s daughter from those mercenaries.” Lucian nodded, turning to the General. The General and Seraphina’s father stood up alongside at once, joining Elder Enzo in the same space. Elder Enzo continued staring at the two of them, and it was impossible to tell if they were going to keep to their words or not, but at that moment, he also knew that he didn’t have any choice at all. It was either he told them what they wanted to hear or he could die a very painful death. “Go on, Elder Enzo. We are waiting for you.” Lucian said with a smile on his face, still staring at the old man who took in a deep breath and exhaled sharply to get rid of some of the tension that he was harboring inside himself. He turned to look at General Hector who had decided not to say a word until necessary, and when he returned his gaze to Lucian, he sat on the ground to be more comfortable before he began to speak. “There is a man named who has been giving Angus instructions on what to do and when to do them. I think he is responsible for all the dungeon attacks and most of the outbreaks that have been happening in the kingdom and beyond…” “What man? Doesn’t he have a name?” “I don’t know what he is called, I don’t even know if he has a name,” Enzo said to Lucian who huffed some air at once, not sure if he was going to believe him or not. “Go on, tell me more…” Lucian said after a while, resorting to hearing the rest of the narration even though he really wanted to hear all the details. “He is the leader of the Shadows of Retribution and plans on taking over the Empire after he has succeeded in killing the Emperor. But I think he is missing something and desperately needs to find it.” Elder Enzo paused for a while, and when General Hector grew tired of the silence, he decided to break it at once. “What is it? What is he in search of?” “Something very powerful, he calls it the Phoenix Heart Root…” “The Phoenix Heart Root?” General Hector said inquisitively, and Enzo nodded in response. “Yes, the Phoenix Heart Root. Angus was certain that he was going to find it no matter what. He said that he was going to raid the dungeons just to make sure that he found it for the leader of the Shadows of Retribution.”Latest Chapter

CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO Suddenly, Lady Seraphina felt a sharp pain in her belly, and when she looked at it to see that she had been stabbed and bleeding profusely, she gasped. As vitality left her, she dropped her dagger to the ground while she started to cough out blood from her mouth causing it to trickle down to the ground.“I am sorry, Seraphina.” General Hector said with a shaky voice, but it was already too late for any other thing to be done.Lady Seraphina grabbed the sword with both hands and dragged it out of her belly while the General let go of it, allowing it to fall to the ground just before he caught Lady Seraphina with both hands.“I am sorry, Seraphina. I didn’t mean to.” General Hector went down on one knee while he carried the lady with both hands, struggling not to let go of the tears that were gathered around his eyes.“Hector? You still look as handsome as ever even in this state. All I wanted was to show my father that he could be proud of his daughter. Funny how l

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE“No…No. I…I…” Lord Ivan attempted to stand up from his floor, but his body was too weak to do anything, and he was forced to remain the way he was.“Sadly, you are going to watch your daughter die in the hands of the General just like I told you. I told you that it was going to happen, but you doubted me. I am glad that you are still alive to watch it happen. Come on…” Lucian grabbed Lord Ivan by his two arms, and forced him to sit up while he positioned him in such a way that he could see his daughter who was still on the floor, whimpering and grunting in so much pain.“Ve…Seraphina.” Lord Ivan could barely say a word, and even when he tried to lift his right hand to extend it toward her, the weakness that had taken over his body pulled it down, and he was forced to remain the way he was.General Hector looked toward the direction of Ian, and when he saw that he had defeated Lord Ivan, he nodded Im satisfaction with a smile that appeared on his face at once.“I was

CHAPTER-THIRTYLord Ivan realized that there was no way he could get to his daughter who desperately needed his help if he didn’t get rid of Lucian who was standing on his way. None of his attempts to maneuver his way worked as Lucian stood his ground in front of him, not ready to leave the way. While the councilman was still trying to figure out a way to handle the situation, he heard a loud grunt from his daughter which made him turn to look at her at once.“Father? Help!” Lady Seraphina pleaded with a shaky voice while she struggled to catch her breath. She was on the floor after General Hector kicked her very hard on the belly, and her face was covered with so many bruises from the punches he gave her.“You thought you were going to be higher than your master, huh? I trained you, Seraphina! I taught you everything you know, every single thing!” General Hector said angrily, and then he walked toward Seraphina and dragged her by the neck, moping the floor with her body while he drag

CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE“Let’s get this over with,” Lucian said confidently just before he started walking slowly toward Lord Ivan who chuckled softly before he dashed at him with the intention of chopping off his head.He was glad that Lucian was no longer holding onto the shield as he had been aiming for his neck, and he was certain that nothing was going to stop him from getting him.Even though he was a bit nervous, Lucian trusted his instincts and continued moving until he got very close to the old man who attempted to plunge his sword into his heart, but Lucian dodged at once.“You are slow, Lord Ivan.” Lucian said with a smirk on his face, causing the old man to growl angrily just before he lifted his sword again to cut off his head.Lucian wedged the sword of the old man who was coming at him with his own sword, but the impact came with a lot of force that he was forced to take two steps backward while he struggled with his balance.Lord Ivan grunted furiously again, and then he l

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHTLucian turned to look at Lady Seraphina as well, and when he saw that she was on her knees, crawling toward her blade, he nodded in satisfaction before turning his gaze to the old man who seemed a bit carried away by what he saw.“Well, it seems your daughter will die by the sword of the General,” Lucian said with a smirk on his face, looking at the old man who growled at him angrily.“You lie! You lie! She is stronger than you think! She is going to rise!” Lord Ivan said with the little confidence he had left, and then he returned his gaze to his daughter who was still on the ground, trying to crawl toward her sword.“Is that fear I see in your eyes? The look on your face seems to say something entirely different from your words. A while ago, you seemed very certain that the General was no match for your daughter.” Lucian teased Lord Ivan, and then he sniggered at him, causing him to fume angrily at him.“I am going to shut you up!” The councilman threatened, and

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVENLord Ivan looked at his daughter again the moment he heard the sound of the General's sword and her blade clashing against each other. His daughter staggered backward, and almost fell to the ground, causing him to gasp. His heartbeat increased instantly, and he struggled to make it normal.“What is it, Lord Ivan? Have you suddenly lost your strength? Have you suddenly realized the reality that stands in front of you?” Lucian chuckled softly while he looked at Lord Ivan who growled for the umpteenth time before he marched forward toward Lucian with the intention of killing him. With his sword tightly gripped with both hands, Lord Ivan attempted to plunge his sword into the heart of his enemy, but Lucian was faster than he expected, hitting off his sword with the shield in his left hand.“You are too old, Lied Ivan. Perhaps, you have eventually fallen for the effects of old age. Your bones are getting weaker by the day, and I am certain that soon, your legs will nee
