CHAPTER EIGHT
“How did you find out about this, Elder Enzo?” General Hector asked calmly, getting rid of the silence that had lingered between them for a while.
“Lady Vella got really sick several days ago, and there was no one who knew about it except Lord Ivan who informed me about it, pleading with me to find a cure for the strange illness that attacked her. When I came, I discovered that the sickness was almost incurable, but Lord Ivan was willing to do anything just to save her. He didn’t know when he told me that Seraphina was his daughter.”
“Oh…” General Hector mumbled in a whisper, looking at Elder Enzo who still didn’t want to maintain eye contact with him.
“I see. That was why he was against us being together.” General Hector whispered at once, but he didn’t know that the other men heard what he said.
Lucian in particular was curious to know more as he folded his arms, forgetting that he had some other intentions in mind.
General Hector was filled with so many thoughts that made him feel uneasy, but considering the fact that there was something more important to be worried about, he took in a deep breath which he let out slowly before he spoke with a low tone.
“Who else, Elder Enzo? Who else is involved?” General Hector asked with a feeble tone, trying so hard not to show weakness as the cringe that crept into him made him very weak.
Elder Enzo waited for the General to get a grip on himself before he gave him the response he requested.
“None that I know of, General Hector. I am not aware of any other person who could be involved with them. I was only able to know about the ones I am aware of because our paths crossed.”
“And you are sure about this?” Lucian asked at once, looking at Elder Enzo who nodded in response with a look of sincerity written all over his face.
“I see,” Lucian said with a whisper, and when he looked at the General, he saw that he was still struggling with the emotions that crept into his mind.
Lucian decided that he was going to go ahead without involving the General who was not his usual self.
“I heard Lord Ivan telling you that he intends to attack the General tonight. When is this supposed to happen?”
General Hector turned instantly as soon as he heard the words that caught his attention. He kept his eyes on Elder Enzo, looking at him while he waited to hear what he was going to say.
“Tonight…” Elder Enzo said with a low tone, looking at Lucian whose countenance showed that he was afraid of what was going to happen to him if the councilman heard that he had exposed their supposed secret.
“I already know about that, Elder Enzo. What I am interested to knowing about is how he intends to do it. I want to know how Elder Enzo. Is he planning to do it alone, or with the help of another?”
“I don’t know anything about that. I am only aware that he intends to attack him tonight.” Elder Enzo said with a low tone, struggling to maintain eye contact with Lucian who was staring at him with keen attention.
“Then he should get ready to fall by my sword!” General Hector growled, clutching his fists tightly while he glared at Elder Enzo as though he was the reason behind the situation that faced them.
“Lady Vella?” General Hector whispered as soon as the thought of his love interest hit him, and he released his clenched fists, realizing that he was going to have to make a very difficult decision.
“Is everything alright, General?” Lucian asked almost immediately, seeing that the countenance of the General had changed almost as soon as he swore to deal with Lord Ivan who was a major obstacle to him.
“I have told you everything you want to know, General. Please, let me go back to my family. My wife and child must be really worried.” The old man pleaded with a faint tone, looking at the General who smiled almost immediately without saying a word.
Elder Enzo stared at the General for a while, and when he realized that he wasn’t going to give him any response, he decided to turn to look at Lucian who had made him a promise earlier.
“You promised that you were going to take me out of this place if I told you everything that you needed to know. You have to let me go! I beg you!”
Lucian ignored the old man and turned to look at General Hector who understood what the look on his face meant.
“Say something! You are not saying anything! Why are you looking at him?”
“Because he is to decide your fate, Elder Enzo! I have no authority over this!” Lucian retorted to the shock of Elder Enzo who gasped instantly, unable to understand what was going on.
He turned his face to look at General Hector at once, but he didn’t know what to say to him.

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE For a moment, Lady Seraphina was convinced that General Hector was going to give her the response she desired even though she knew that he could be very stubborn. As she stood in front of him, she maintained a confident smile, hoping to hear a suitable response from him. “Go on, my love. Tell us where he is. This doesn’t have to take so much time.” Lady Seraphina got rid of the silence between her and her lover whom she had rendered speechless and heartbroken by her betrayal. “What do you want with the King?” General Hector asked with a whisper, looking at Seraphina who had suddenly become a stranger. “I want to kill him. Oh yes, I want to stab him so hard that he will bleed to death.” Seraphina said with a cold voice, unperturbed about the fact that her words shocked the General who sighed heavily before giving her a response. “I can’t tell you, Seraphina. I cannot tell you where the King is. I ave sworn my allegiance to the throne, and I will cont

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-FOUR He had not seen the massacre in the Palace, but the fact that there was no soldier around him meant that they were all dead, and if there were any survivors, then they would be in a very critical condition. “I am going to give you one last chance, General Titus, and I hope you think of the answer you are going to give to me. Where is the King?” Lord Ivan asked with an imperative tone, looking at the General who remained still without saying any word or even making any move. “General Titus? This is your last chance!”“Yes! You already said that, Lord Zane! Tell me, is that why you tried to stop me from getting married to your daughter?” General Hector said with a smirk on his face while he looked at Lord Zane, who looked shocked after hearing the words he spoke. “Lord Zane? You look quite surprised; I guess you didn’t think that we were going to ever find out that Lady Seraphina is your daughter! Tell me, did her mother find out that you were so evil t

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-THREE Ian struggled with the guilt that crept into his mind while he watched the General effortlessly drag the ninja to a corner of the space, sweeping the floor with her body after giving her two heavy punches on the face, whichLucian was certain was going to give her so many bruises and swell. “Whoever is friends with Lord Ivan is an enemy of the throne! And enemies of the throne deserve to die! All of you!” General Hector said with so much anger laced in his voice, and while he was still dragging the ninja who let go of her swords while she grunted in pain, Lucian heard the sound of heavy footsteps stomping toward them, which made him then at once. “General Titus!” Lord Ivan said with so much disappointment as soon as he saw the General whom he was told had been burnt to ashes. He turned to look at the five men standing close to him with so much anger while they took several steps backward, afraid of what their fate could be. “Shoot him down at once!

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-TWO The moment he got very close to the ninja, he went down on one knee, and then he pulled out his mask slowly, keeping his eyes on the face while he moved the black mask away. “I knew it!” He gasped loudly, realizing that the ninja was a young woman, a beautiful one at that. The fact that she said nothing or didn’t make any sound even when he stabbed her with his sword puzzled him, and he struggled with the guilt that surged into his body at that moment. “You were moving like a man, but I could tell that there was a little difference. Why did you let them turn you into this?”Lucian asked with a tone laced with so much guilt, struggling with the cringe that crept into his body while he stared at the face of the ninja whose body was already cold. Dropping the mask on the floor amidst the sadness that engulfed him, Lucian let out a heavy sigh before he turned to look at the ninja the General was fighting with. It didn’t take long for him to also realize t

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY-ONE Ian looked at the ninjas with a glare on his face, and as soon as the General walked up to him, he turned to look at him without saying a word. “There is no way I am letting you have all the fun, Lucian.” “Well, do you think you are up for it?”Lucian said in a whisper, looking at the General, who nodded in response even though the look on his face showed that he was in so much pain. “I hope you don’t give him a chance to kill you. Kill him before he does.” “Gladly, Lucian.” General Hector nodded in response, and then he started moving toward the ninja in front of him whileLucian took the other one. Before another blink of an eyelid, the ninjas had already started moving toward them with so much speed. It seemed like they were not the only ones eager to engage in combat as the ninjas bent in a combat posture, holding onto their katana swords before they made the first move. “This is going to take a while,” Lucian said based on what he saw in front

CHAPTER HUNDRED AND FORTY He thought that they were probably afraid of him, but they were only calculating the best way to attack him, and when they were able to unanimously conclude, they moved further apart from each other and continued walking slowly toward the General. After a short while, the ninja by the left attacked first with his two katana swords, moving swiftly while the General continued to block his strikes with an effective grip and accuracy. The General, however, was shocked at how fast the ninja was going, and that was when he realized that he had underestimated them. While he was still trying to figure out a way to totally stop the ninja from attempting to hit him with his swords, the other ninja rushed at him without warning, and kicked him very hard on the chest, causing him to fall on his buttocks while he moved backward, almost crashing into the pillar behind him.
