“What I do is none of your business,” Logan said coldly.

He didn’t like this woman.

Ava had always treated him like dirt.

Just as he walked past her, hoping to avoid another pointless confrontation, Ava stepped forward, blocking his way.

“Piss off, won’t you?” she mocked.

“You think someone like you can get inside Rhine Group? I know Charlotte’s trying to secure a partnership with them, but ALAS — Mr Hayes already promised that deal to me.”

“And when I take it, Charlotte’s days as CEO at Elysian Bloom will be numbered.”

"Watch your wife’s empire crumble from the sidelines, you peasant!"

Logan stared at her, his eyes cold and motionless.

“You know what? You’re a perfect illustration of a rotten brain with wild dreams.”

The third branch of the Sullivan family had always looked down on Charlotte and him.

There was no warmth between kin—only cold, calculating greediness.

“Fuck off!” Feeling unease under Logan’s cold gaze, Ava took a big step back and snapped。

“You damn bum. Useless trash who sells his own blood just to make ends meet.”

Logan’s eyes glinted. Then he chuckled.

“So what if I sold blood? At least I’m healthy and worked my way through college on my own.”

“And you, Ava? Barely scraped through high school—didn’t you sleep with your teacher fortnight for a diploma?”

“Someone who sells her entire body and soul has no right to mock me. You’re not even qualified, you know?”

“You—!”

Ava’s face turned pale.

That incident was her biggest shame.

“Oh, did I hit a nerve? At least, I’m clever and a top graduate. You? You’re barely literate. Calling me trash just proves you’re worth even less.”

Logan took a step forward with every sentence, forcing Ava back until she stumbled against the wall next to the elevator.

Ava’s face turned a deep shade of purple with rage—she was so furious, she couldn’t get a single word out.

Logan let out a cold laugh.

Well, consider this a little interest payment—just a taste of revenge.

Ava had always gone out of her way to humiliate his wife Charlotte and their daughter Chloe, and every time she saw him, she never missed a chance to mock him.

Just then, the elevator doors slid open—and Ava was pushed by a hurried passersby.

Caught off guard, she stumbled and fell to the floor, legs splayed, her sexy transparent pants revealing far too much.

Just then, a young man walked out of the elevator, his face swollen like a pig’s head.

The moment he caught sight of Ava’s exposed pants, his eyes lit up, his swollen face contorted in a mix of surprise and desire.

"Nice... and juicy," he muttered, eyeing her intently and licking his lips.

It was none other than Liam.

Despite losing all his assets, Liam still clung to his title as Chief Operation Officer.

So even now, with his disfigured face, he carried himself like a man of power.

“Mr. Hayes!”

Ava gasped, scrambling to her feet, embarrassed and enraged, trying to cover herself.

“What happened to your face?!”

But Liam ignored her.

His eyes narrowed as he spotted Logan.

He assumed Logan had come to beg for his forgiveness and support from Rhine Corporation, desperate to save his wife's company from collapsing.

“Look who is here, Logan the bastard son-in-law!” Liam snapped.

“If it’s about the deal, tell Charlotte to come to my house tonight. I might throw in another project for her.”

Logan’s jaw tightened, his disgust growing.

“Fuck off before I change my mind,” he said coldly.

He really didn’t want to dirty his hands.

Logan crouched in the shadows, his eyes narrowing as he observed the two men whispering at the far end of the corridor. They thought themselves safe, hidden away in the quiet recesses of the hospital, far from watchful eyes. But Logan had been trained to notice the slightest shift in behavior, the faintest hint of guilt. And from the way the men spoke in hushed tones, from the way they exchanged glances with unease, he knew they were involved in something darker than they wanted to admit. The men were completely unaware that Logan had been watching them all along. They leaned against the wall, their voices low but sharp enough for Logan to catch every poisonous word.“…if we add a little more next time, it will surely finish him off,” one whispered, his tone steady but laced with malice. The second nodded nervously. “But what if someone begins to suspect? That boy… Logan. He’s been coming around too often, and he seems too clever for his own good.”The first man sneered. “Don’t wor

Logan’s hands trembled slightly as he withdrew the last syringe from his father’s arm. The faint beep of the monitors steadied, the irregular rhythm smoothing into something that resembled stability. Relief surged through him like a tide, but he did not allow himself the comfort of resting. His father’s condition was not simply the result of illness—it was treachery, and everyone in the room needed to know it.Slowly, Logan rose from the bedside. His father, Curtis Brook, lay pale and frail on the sheets, his breathing shallow but steady. The family and attendants had gathered in the master chamber of Brook Mansion, their eyes fixed on Logan as if he alone carried the weight of their hope.Logan’s gaze swept over them, sharp and unforgiving. “Listen carefully,” he began, his voice low but firm. “My father’s illness is not natural. His condition worsened because someone has been poisoning him—bit by bit, day after day.”Gasps rippled through the crowd. A servant dropped the tray

Logan ignored the doctor’s shouting as if the man’s voice were nothing more than background noise. His focus was locked entirely on the man lying weak and pale before him—his father. He lifted the small porcelain cup to his father’s lips and gently tilted it, letting the bitter herbal infusion flow slowly into his mouth. His father made a faint noise, but swallowed, sip after sip. Logan’s movements were calm and deliberate, but inside, his blood boiled. When the last drop was gone, Logan set the cup aside and watched closely.A few minutes passed. Then, almost imperceptibly, his father’s chest rose a little more steadily. His breathing wasn’t as ragged. A sheen of cold sweat broke across his forehead, and Logan recognized the sign—some of the poison was leaving his system.Moments later, the smell in the air shifted, and Logan saw the doctor stiffen in surprise. The herbs were working.Still, Logan knew it wasn’t enough. The bulk of the toxin remained buried deep inside his father’s b

Logan moved closer to the bed, his footsteps muffled by the thick carpet of the Brooks master suite. His father lay there, pale and unmoving, his breathing so faint that Logan almost had to lean over to see the rise and fall of his chest. The smell of antiseptic lingered heavily in the air, but beneath it, there was another scent—a bitter, metallic note he knew all too well.Poison.He placed two fingers gently on his father’s wrist, feeling the sluggish, uneven pulse. Then he pressed his palm lightly against his father’s chest, listening with the trained patience of someone who had treated him before. His heart sank. The toxin levels in his father’s system weren’t just present—they were higher than before.Much higher. It wasn’t a mild contamination or a trace dose—it was deliberate, heavy, and meant to kill quickly. If something wasn’t done immediately, Logan estimated his father had only hours, maybe less, before his body shut down completely.A troubled heaviness settled in Logan’

Logan felt his chest tighten as the doctor’s words echoed in his mind. Vegetable for life. The phrase didn’t belong in any sentence describing his little girl.“No,” he said firmly, his voice thick with defiance. “That’s not possible. My daughter will not spend the rest of her life trapped in her own body. I don’t care what it takes—I’ll make sure Chloe is fine… and normal again.”The doctor’s sympathetic expression didn’t change, but Logan barely noticed. His mind was already racing through possibilities—specialists, overseas treatments, experimental therapies. He was prepared to fight the world if that was what it took. Before he could speak again, his phone began to ring. The name flashing across the screen made him pause. Charlotte. He answered immediately. “Charlotte.”Her voice came through the line, strained and sorrowful. “Logan… about Chloe… Did you—did you find her body?”Logan was silent for a long moment. He could hear Charlotte’s breathing on the other end, uneven and
