Gavin’s eyes fluttered open, as he glanced through the room he realized he was in the nurse’s office.

As he slowly sat up, his body felt sore but surprisingly energized. He tried to stand up but a felt a sudden ache in his head.

Gavin sighed. This was all Austin fault. He couldn’t wait to make Austin pay for what he did to him.

Gavin adjusted his body slowly, it was during that moment that he realized that he was alone in the room. However the sudden silence was interrupted by a strange voice echoing in his head.

[Revenge system fully activated.]

[User identified as Gavin Smith.]

[User body recovery rate: 76%.]

[User skills: 0%.]

[Quests completed: 0%.]

[Rewards achieved: 0%.]

Gavin whipped his head around, scanning the room for the source of the voice. He looked around the nurse’s office, but his eyes landed on no one.

‘Could the sound coming from my phone?’ He said himself searching for his device, which was practically dead when he picked it up.

“Then what the hell was that?” he muttered, his voice shaky.

The voice continued, this time it was in a more synchronized tone.

[Initiating d******d of automated voice...]

A countdown began, loud and clear in his head.

[1...2...3...4...5...6...]

[D******d successful….]

Gavin clutched his head, his heart pounding. “I think I’m losing my mind,” he whispered to himself.

The voice spoke again.

[This is a revenge system. The revenge system was designed by an ancient scientist to aid those who have been wronged. This experimental system can be fully utilized by completing quests, which will upgrade your skills and abilities. After each quest is completed, rewards will be granted.]

Gavin’s confusion deepened. “Are you some kind of game? And how did you get inside my head?”

The voice ignored his questions.

[To activate the Revenge System, say ‘Activate.’]

For a moment, Gavin hesitated. The idea of getting revenge on the people who had hurt him—Austin, Angela, even Mr. and Mrs. Smith didn’t seem bad. Was it crazy? Probably. But what did he have to lose?

“Activate,” Gavin said firmly.

Suddenly, his vision blurred as a list of numbers, symbols, and words flooded his sight, appearing and disappearing rapidly.

His heart raced as the strange data overwhelmed him, but just as quickly as it started, it stopped.

[First quest loading...]

[1...2...3...4...5...6...]

[Quest successfully loaded.]

[Quest activation complete.]

Gavin’s heart thudded in anticipation as the voice returned.

[First quest: Become a spendthrift and spend $1.5 million in one day.]

“Spendthrift?” Gavin echoed. “How am I supposed to do that and Where am I going to find that kind of money?”

Almost as if in response, his phone buzzed in his pocket.

Frowning, he pulled it out. The screen lit up with a notification: a credit alert of $1.5 million.

“Oh my god!” Gavin gasped, staring at the screen in disbelief.

[Revenge system: User has 24 hours to complete this mission.]

A timer appeared in the corner of his vision, ticking down from 24:00:00.

Adrenaline rushed through Gavin’s veins as he swung his legs over the bed and stood up. The soreness in his body had vanished completely.

“This is insane,” he muttered, but a smirk tugged at his lips. He knew exactly what he wanted to do first.

Gavin strode through the hallway. Students parted as he passed, whispering and pointing, but he ignored them. His destination was clear: the principal’s office.

Halfway there, Austin appeared, leaning against a locker with his trademark smirk.

“Look who’s finally awake,” Austin sneered. “Where are you off to, pig? Did they finally kick you out?”

Gavin stopped but didn’t reply. He kept his head high and walked past Austin without so much as a glance.

“Hey, I’m talking to you!” Austin called, falling into step behind him. “What’s the rush? Did you steal something else? Maybe the nurse’s first aid kit?”

Gavin still didn’t respond. Austin’s taunts grew louder, drawing the attention of nearby students, but Gavin had no time to waste on him.

When Gavin reached the principal’s office, he pushed the door open without knocking. Mrs. Moore looked up from her desk, startled.

“Gavin,” she said sharply, “what is the meaning of this?”

Ignoring her tone, Gavin pulled out his phone.

“I want to pay back the fundraiser money,” he said. “And I want to donate something extra—for the school gym.”

Mrs. Moore blinked in surprise. “What are you talking about?”

Gavin stared at the school account pasted on the board, he tapped a few buttons on his phone, and a moment later, Mrs. Moore’s computer dinged with a notification. She clicked it, her eyes widening as she read the details.

“$1 million!” she exclaimed. “Gavin, where did you get this money?”

“I don’t think that matters,” Gavin said calmly.

Austin, who had followed him into the office, scoffed. “He probably stole it from my dad.”

Mrs. Moore frowned. “Gavin, is that true?”

Gavin didn’t dignify Austin’s accusation with an answer.

“The money’s already transferred,” he said. “Consider the fundraiser debt paid, and the rest is for the gym upgrades.”

Mrs. Moore’s expression softened. “This is... more than enough,” she murmured. “Thank you, Gavin.”

Without another word, Gavin turned and walked out of the office, his mind already racing with ideas for how to spend the remaining money.

As he walked through the hallway, a triumphant smirk tugged at Gavin’s lips.

The revenge system’s first quest had opened a door he hadn’t known existed. For the first time in his life, he felt powerful. No longer would he let people like Austin, Angela, or the Smiths walk all over him.

And he wasn’t done yet.

The timer in his vision ticked steadily, urging him forward. He still had plenty of money—and time—to make a statement. The thought of what he could do next crossed his mind and Gavin smiled.

“Let’s see how they like it when the tables turn.” He said to himself.

Maybe he still could. But his feet wouldn’t move. His eyes were locked on Angela, who was still being held by the man with the gun.“Don’t do anything stupid,” the man warned, with a sharp voice. Then he raised his gun and pointed it straight at Gavin’s chest. “This is not the time to play hero. Leave. Or I’ll shoot you.”Gavin didn’t move. He couldn’t. The sun had completely disappeared from the sky, when Gavin dropped Harrison off. The streets were mostly quiet, painted in orange and blue shadows. As they pulled into the driveway, Harrison let out a dramatic sigh. “Home sweet chaos.” Gavin glanced at the empty front porch. “Your mom’s not home?” “She’s probably off with her pathetic woman’s club,” Harrison said, rolling his eyes. “Last week they met to talk about decorative spoons for a council meeting.” They both laughed and the minute their thunderous laughter died down. Harrison turned to look at his friend. “Do you mind coming in? It would be so boring staying here alone!” Gavin nudged. “I’m always open to curing boredom.” Harrison smiled as they both stepped inside. The familiar smell of lavender and old books hit Gavin’s noise and he couldn’t help but welcome it. It smelt homely. Harrison led Gavin upstairs to his room, which was a typical mix of genius and mess. There were tools, wires, comic books, and a few empty c

Mr. Smith’s voice rang out across the school courtyard. The anger in his voice couldn’t be missed and Gavin couldn’t help but shake his head in anger. “The school must have some idea what’s going on! How does a student just disappear?!” Gavin heard Mr. Smith say to Principal Moore, who looked shaken. Poor Mrs. Moore little did she know she was just being a pawn in Mr. Smith’s little games. Gavin didn’t move closer to the scene. He watched, as Mr. Smith kept yelling at the principal in front of the staff and students scattered around the front lawn. His tie was crooked, his expression wild—completely out of his usual composed self. Gavin had to hand it to Mr. Smith he was good at pretending, good at making people believe that he was a concerned father. But that would all be over soon. Gavin took a deep breath, as he slowly made his way towards Mr. Smith's direction. His hoodie was pulled halfway over his head, his hands stuffed in his pockets. Students turned, one by one, starin

Harrison’s heart pounded as Mr. Smith’s cold gaze settled on him. “Step away from Gavin, boy” Mr. Smith ordered, in a low tone. Harrison hesitated for a brief second, his fists clenching at his sides. He wanted to fight, to stand his ground, but he knew he couldn’t fight Mr. Smith or Austin. He made a mental note to remind Gavin to teach him more of his advanced fighting skills when they got out. That’s if they would end up leaving here. “Don’t make me lose my temper!” Mr. Smith’s voice picked up. He was staring at Harrison who hadn’t obeyed his words. Reluctantly, Harrison took a step back. Mr. Smith smirked. “Good boy. Now, Austin—escort him out.” Austin grabbed Harrison roughly by the arm, already dragging him toward the door. “No! Please, just spare him!” Harrison pleaded, struggling against Austin’s grip. “You don’t have to do this! If you need to hurt someone, hurt me instead!” Mr. Smith chuckled darkly. “Oh, I could hurt you, but I won’t. You see, you’re not the
