Mason smirked openly at Ric as the latter watched him with burning eyes. He could see the hatred for him written clearly across Ric’s face, even his father could, as he stared back at Ric with a hard expression, silently demanding he masked his emotions, but masking what he was feeling at the moment was not one of Ric’s strongest suit as he ignored his father and glared at Scarlett as she put the beef into her mouth. It was not the fact that she was eating it that hurt Ric's pride so badly, it was the message it sent across to the table, and this too in front of his father, now Ric knew he attempted to have a little fun with Scarlett some days ago, but to him that was not nearly enough reason for the pain and humiliation he was currently passing through and too make it worse in front of his family, he closed his eyes as his knife digged into the ceramic plate and produced a screeching sound that caused everyone around the table, including the servants to glare at him.
