Olivia walked up close to Jason until she was standing right in front of him. She bent a little so that her face was level with his.
Jason could almost feel her breath on his face as she spoke, her voice was cold and sharp.
“Look at you,” she said slowly, “do you even realize how useless you are? If you were only poor, it would not have been so bad. People can be poor and still have something to offer. But you? You don’t even know one important person. Not a single person of value is connected to you. At least if you knew someone powerful, I could still hold my head up. But no. You are poor, crippled, and completely alone.”
Her words echoed around the living room. Some of the guests shook their heads, others whispered to one another, but none of them defended Jason.
Olivia straightened her back proudly and pointed at Samuel with her hand. “By tomorrow morning, Samuel has promised to take me with him. Do you hear me? He will take me to meet an extraordinary man, a man everyone in this country respects. Tomorrow morning, I will see the Divine Finger with my own eyes.”
The moment she said “Divine Finger,” the guests gasped again. Murmurs filled the air, people nodding their heads in respect.
The name carried weight.
Jason’s eyes narrowed, but he said nothing.
Olivia smirked, clearly enjoying the moment.
“I’m sure you don’t even know who the Divine Finger is. You were probably too busy dragging yourself to therapy sessions and wasting everyone’s money while the rest of the world was talking about him. Let me explain it to you, Jason, since you clearly live under a rock. The Divine Finger is not just a doctor. He is a miracle. He can put one finger on any sick person, and they will be healed instantly. That is who he is. That is who I will see tomorrow, thanks to Samuel.”
She turned her head back to Samuel, her eyes softening. “Samuel is well connected and respected. He gives me the honor of being in the same room as great men. That is what a true man does. You could never give me that, Jason. Never.”
Jason’s voice came out calm, “Don’t go with him.”
The room went silent again. Everyone stared at Jason, shocked that he dared to speak against her.
Olivia scoffed bitterly. “Don’t go with him?” she repeated, mocking his words. “And who are you to tell me what to do? Shut your filthy mouth, Jason. This gathering tonight is for people who matter, not for useless men like you. You don’t belong here. You never did.”
She snapped her fingers sharply. “Lawrence! Come here. Take this useless man to his room.”
Lawrence froze by the door. His hands shook as he looked at Jason. He didn’t know what to do.
Jason turned his head and met Lawrence’s eyes. He gave a small nod. “Do as she says, take me inside.”
Reluctantly, Lawrence walked over and placed his hands on the wheelchair. He began to push Jason toward the hallway.
“Wait!” Olivia’s cold voice stopped them.
Lawrence froze. He didn’t turn the chair around, but he stood still.
Olivia’s eyes narrowed. Her voice was colder than it was initially.
“Before you go, I want you to remember this. You had better find a way to pay me and my family back for every single cent we wasted on your dead spine. Do you hear me? Every cent,” she said coldly.
“We paid for your treatment, we gave you chance after chance, and in the end, you still failed. You are still a cripple, you are still worthless. So return our money, or don’t bother looking at me again.”
Jason’s jaw tightened. His hands clenched on the armrest, but he didn’t say a word. He only turned his head slightly.
“Lawrence, take me inside,” Jason said.
Lawrence pushed the wheelchair down the hall without another word. When they reached Jason’s room, Lawrence stopped at the door, pushed him in, and quietly left.
The moment Jason was alone, he stood up from the chair. His tall figure straightened, and he locked the door behind him.
He walked to his desk, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number.
The call went through on the first ring. A deep, respectful voice answered quickly.
“Divine Finger,” Michael Norman said through the phone. “I am at your service.”
Jason’s tone was calm. “Michael, I need you to reach the president of Mid Country tonight.”
Michael didn’t even hesitate. “That will not be a problem. I can reach anyone. All my connections are yours, Divine Finger. Everything I have belongs to you.”
“Good,” Jason said. “Then tell the president this… Tell him that someone can heal his daughter. Tell him tonight.”
“That is simple,” Michael replied quickly. “I will make sure the message reaches him before morning.”
Jason nodded slightly. “Tomorrow morning, I will need to be at the Executive House to heal the president's daughter. Can you arrange it? Can you and your men take me there?”
“Yes,” Michael answered firmly. “I will personally handle it. Nothing will stop you from entering.”
Jason was about to hang up, but he paused. His voicestepped down a little.
“One more thing. When you speak to the president, do not reveal who I am. Do not mention the name Divine Finger...”
There was a short silence before Michael replied. His voice was completely loyal. “Understood. Your order will be carried out. Tomorrow morning, my men will pick you up and take you to the President's Villa.”
The line went dead after that. Jason lowered the phone slowly and set it down on the bed where he sat calmly.
His jaw clenched tightly. He would snatch the victory from Samuel Tennyson and win the president's favor.

Jason sat quietly in his wheelchair, his expression was calm as Samuel and Olivia stared at him in disgust. The police officers gripped the couple firmly, ready to resume dragging them away when Jason spoke again.“Wait,” Jason said, raising his hand ever so slightly. His eyes shifted toward the officers. “Do not take her away. Olivia… is my wife. I do not want her arrested.”Murmurs spread quickly among the crowd. The officers froze, their brows furrowing in confusion. Even Samuel and Olivia blinked in surprise before their expressions twisted again into contempt. One of the senior officers, a man with a stern face and heavy boots, took a step forward. His grip on Samuel’s arm never loosened as he addressed Jason.“This is not your decision. The order for their arrest came directly from the president himself. We cannot disobey that.” The officer said, his tone clipped.Jason tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing but his

“You,” Samuel spat, his voice echoing across the compound. “Of course it’s you. The cripple. The useless beggar who never knows when to quit. What in the world do you think you are doing here?”Olivia, who had been sobbing moments earlier, caught sight of Jason too. Her tears dried instantly as her face transformed into one of pure loathing. Her eyes narrowed, and her voice rose shrill with hatred.“Jason Woods,” she said, her words were loud. “So this is what it’s come to? You trailing after us like a desperate dog, following us even into the president’s villa. Have you no shame? Do you really think this place is meant for people like you?”The police officers stiffened slightly but said nothing.Jason sat calmly, his eyes darting from Samuel to Olivia, his hands folded lightly over his lap. He neither responded nor shifted at first, and his very silence seemed to fuel their anger.“I did not trail you here,” Jason finally said.Samuel yanked against the cuffs, ignoring Jason's words

The man bowed his head slightly, acknowledging his words. But before he could reach the door, President Donovan stepped quickly in front of him, his face still flushed with gratitude.“Jason!” the president called. “Wait—please, just one moment more.”Jason paused, tilting his head up slowly. His expression was unreadable. The president’s voice shook as he spoke, but every word was drenched with sincerity. “I do not know how to thank you. Words will never be enough. You have given me back my child. You have done what no power, no money, no influence of mine could do. I am forever indebted to you. Do you
CHAPTER 17
Doctors, nurses, and guards stood rooted to the spot, their mouths hanging open as though their very voices had been stolen. Not one of them moved, not one dared to breathe too loudly, because before their very eyes, the impossible had just unfolded.Isabelle Donovan—who had moments earlier been coughing blood, writhing in agony, and tethered to the machines that counted down her fading life—now stood upright. Upright on legs that had been lifeless for so long. Her pale cheeks were flushed with new color, her trembling lips stretched into a disbelieving smile, and tears streamed down her face as she looked at her own hands, then down at her moving feet again.“I… I can walk,” she whispered again, almost as if saying it aloud would make it vanish like a dream. Her voice was trembling, filled with awe and shock in equal measure. “Father… I can walk!”The clipboard a nurse had dropped earlier clattered as it was nudged by her shaking foot, and the sharp sound jolted everyone from their t
CHAPTER 16
Michael’s man gently pushed him until the chair stopped beside the small table next to Isabelle. Jason’s gaze fell calmly on the clutter of items—medical tools, half-used bandages, vials, and a plain bottle of water.Jason reached out and lifted the bottle. His movements were so calm that for a moment, everyone in the room simply stared, waiting to see what he would do.He unscrewed the cap slowly, Then he leaned slightly forward, tilting the bottle toward Isabelle’s lips.“Drink,” Jason said softly, his voice calm and low, as though he were speaking not to a patient on the edge of death but to someone merely weary from a long day.Isabelle’s pale lips parted faintly, her weak body trembling as the cool water touched her tongue. She swallowed, just barely, the movement of her throat fragile but visible. The room, however, erupted—not with applause, but with disbelief.Alec, who had been standing stiffly at the foot of the bed, suddenly let out a loud laugh.“Water?” Alec sneered, his

But he was not.Every sound—the hurried footsteps, the raised voices, the cries of anguish—reached him. Behind him, Michael’s man stood, waiting, his eyes occasionally flicking toward the sealed ward doors. Then the muffled cries came through more clearly. Olivia’s shrill protests, Samuel’s desperate shouts insisting on his innocence, and the thundering tones of guards dragging them away.Jason’s eyes flickered open slowly. He breathed out, as if confirming something he already knew. “They’re gone,” Jason murmured, his voice calm. “Olivia and Samuel are gone.”Michael’s man leaned forward slightly. “Shall I check to be certain, sir?”Jason shook his head. “No need. The noise tells me everything. They’ve been exposed. The president is drowning in grief and rage. And Isabelle…” His words tr
