Lea couldn’t hold back her laughter. She had encountered all sorts of strange people in the store before, but this was the first time she had seen a poorly dressed man make such an outrageous claim. She was certain Calvin was just a big talker.

Her eyes scanned Calvin up and down, scrutinizing his appearance. A smirk formed on her lips. “Are you joking about buying everything here?” she asked, her tone dripping with mockery.

Several people nearby joined in the laughter, convinced they were witnessing something ridiculous. The man in front of them didn’t even have decent clothes to wear—how could he possibly afford to buy the entire store?

Lea finally stopped laughing and fixed Calvin with a sharp stare. “Enough. Stop wasting my time.”

She was certain he was just playing games. Even the wealthiest people in the city wouldn’t be able to buy out the entire store, so it was impossible for Calvin to do so.

“You two should just leave,” Lea said firmly.

Meanwhile, Claire felt uneasy. She had no idea why Calvin had said such a thing.

She gently grabbed his hand. “It’s okay, let’s not make this a bigger issue. Besides, these clothes are enough for me,” Claire said, trying to reassure him.

Claire didn’t want to attract attention. In her opinion, Calvin’s excessive reaction would only embarrass himself.

She knew that Calvin came from the fallen Moonstone family. He had also just returned from the battlefield, meaning his life had been difficult. There was no way he could afford such a thing.

Things were already hard enough for Calvin, and Claire didn’t want him to make things even worse for himself.

Lea eyed them coldly. “I knew it. You can’t afford anything here, not even the cheapest clothing.” She gestured toward another store. “Go there—that place suits you better.”

Claire’s discomfort grew. Just as the salesgirl had said, Claire tugged on Calvin’s hand. “Let’s just go there.”

Calvin looked at her gently. “Don’t worry. Everything is fine,” he reassured her.

But Claire couldn’t relax. She thought Calvin was being too stubborn, and truthfully, she didn’t want him to get into trouble because of her.

Lea, on the other hand, grew irritated. The man had ignored the woman’s advice. “You should listen to her and go to that store. Or should I call security to throw you out?”

Calvin shot Lea a cold glare. “We are customers. You should be treating us like royalty.”

Lea couldn’t hold back her laughter. She burst into loud, mocking laughter, finding Calvin utterly ridiculous.

“Royalty?” she repeated, unable to stop laughing.

Lea once again scrutinized their strange appearance before shaking her head repeatedly. “Do you really think there’s a king who looks like this?”

“Look at your clothes. You’re wearing something so outdated and unworthy. Did you buy that over a decade ago? It barely even fits your body anymore,” she sneer, giving her harshest judgment. And to her, it was the absolute truth. She felt embarrassed just listening to Calvin’s overconfidence.

“And look at your girlfriend—wearing a dirty dress. Does she think she’s going to a party dressed like that? You two are ridiculous,” Lea added with another mocking remark.

Claire glanced down at herself. She had left in a hurry without bringing anything and was still wearing the white dress from her engagement day with Bobby. The graveyard had dirtied the hem of her dress.

Lea’s gaze turned even more condescending. “No real king would waste time picking through clothes just because of money. That’s just pathetic.”

Calvin remained calm, but his gaze was sharp, piercing. His expression hardened. “You’re going to regret everything you just said.”

“Regret?” Lea repeated, then shook her head with a smirk. “That’s never going to happen.”

“There’s nothing to regret. Besides, you’re nobody, and I’m the best salesgirl here,” Lea boasted about her achievements. She took pride in always catering to the best customers.

Calvin, however, narrowed his eyes and studied her. “You’re nothing but an incompetent and lousy salesgirl.”

“The real best salesgirl is her,” Calvin said, pointing at another woman. She had been the one helping him choose items all this time.

His gaze then shifted to the woman he had pointed to. “I’ll buy everything in this store,” Calvin declared firmly.

Lea burst into laughter. “What a joke.”

Ignoring her, Calvin reached into his pocket, pulled out his wallet, and retrieved a black card, holding it up for the salesgirl to see.

Lea’s eyes widened in shock as she stared at the black card Calvin had just handed to her colleague.

“This has to be a scam,” she immediately accused, pointing at Calvin. “Where did you get that? Did you steal it?”

“It’s mine,” Calvin replied with unwavering confidence.

Of course, Lea wasn’t going to believe him so easily. His shabby appearance screamed poverty, and she was convinced he was nothing more than a broke man pretending to be rich.

“That’s yours? Impossible. You must have stolen it from someone. And I bet it won’t even work. Don’t try to fool me,” Lea snapped, her voice filled with anger. To her, this was nothing more than a pathetic scam.

She turned to her colleague. “Check it. There’s no way he’ll be able to pay.”

Her colleague nodded. “Alright.”

Secretly, the woman smirked. She crossed her arms, ready to laugh and throw more insults at Calvin.

“Sir, the payment has been successfully processed,” the other salesgirl announced politely.

Lea’s eyes widened in disbelief. “There’s no way that black card actually worked.”

Calvin stepped closer, his gaze piercing. “Can’t you see? I just bought everything.” He paused, studying her for a moment before adding, “Prepare yourself—your manager will be furious with you.”

The atmosphere around them suddenly grew heavy, centering entirely on him just moments after he spoke.
