11. This Is Not Enough

Danny silently watched the crowd of fools busy congratulating Laura and her family. He calmly took the glass of wine and walked slowly towards Laura with a smile.

The golden-brown-haired man raised his glass in salute to Laura. "Congratulations, Laura. You are free of me and can go out with any man you like."

Laura glared at him and shook out her long blonde hair. It was a simple gesture but enough to make any single man flirt with her.

"You're pretending to be happy when you're actually regretting your current situation!" Laura muttered while glancing at Danny. She knew Danny was covering up his sadness because of the divorce he wanted.

Laura turned around, stood up, and said haughtily, "If only you would kneel down and apologize to me, then I guarantee that I can persuade your grandmother to compensate you. At least you won't leave the Huxley household empty-handed!"

"Right, Danny, just do what Laura says. At least when you leave our house, you can earn money to rent a studio apartment for a year. Isn't that better than sleeping on the sidewalk?" added Susan, who had been silent and preoccupied with her rich boyfriend.

Danny glared while clenching his fists. But a few moments later, he approached Laura. Once in front of Laura, he lowered his head and slowly lowered his body.
