21. Officially Divorce

Everyone looked at Grandma and wondered what was going on. Susan was the first to see Grandma's nails.

"It's paint!" Susan muttered, then turned to Evan, who was slowly moving away from the crowd.

Danny, who saw this, immediately took advantage of the situation. He smiled slightly, and his gaze was mocking. "Someone gave Grandma a fake ring? Why would anyone dare to do that? Does he disrespect Grandma? Or does he think of her as..."

Instantly, everyone turned to Danny with angry glares. Desmond then pointed at Danny. "Hey! Who gave you permission to interfere with the Huxley family? And who asked for your opinion?"

Danny smiled slightly but said nothing.

"Danny, this gift was given by Evan, who is a businessman from a growing company. You're saying this because you're jealous of Evan, right?" asked Kelly, trying to defend her future son-in-law.

Danny just smiled sarcastically when he heard this. In his heart, he said, 'It's like this, they are still glorifying Evan.'

Meanwhile, Susan looked shocked by what had just happened. But she didn't want to show it; her pride was too high to be called a woman who had been deceived.

Susan then approached Evan, wrapped both hands around his arm, and said, "Danny, if my boyfriend's gift is fake, he must have a reason for it. She wouldn't have done it on purpose!"

Susan then turned to Evan and asked him to explain. Evan smiled slightly and thought the sexy model beside him was easy to persuade.

Evan straightened his suit and turned to Susan and then to Grandma. This time, she showed a sad face. "Grandma, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give you a fake gi or disrespect you. I was just unlucky. I think I was tricked. I bought that jewelry because I thought it was very pretty, and the display from the shop looked convincing. I'm sorry, Gran. I'll definitely replace it with another gift."

Grandmother nodded, stomping her cane again, and said, "There's no need for that! I know your good intentions, and it's certainly not your fault if you were cheated. Let's just forget about it."

Evan nodded respectfully and then thanked Grandma.

"Huh! At least Evan's fake gift is still better than someone who comes to the party, enjoys the food and brings nothing," Susan quipped as she glanced at Danny.

"Huh! Susan, did you forget the background of the person who didn't bring Grandma a gift?" Matthew asked, glancing at Danny.

Susan laughed at her brother's statement. Then she said, "Ah, you're right, someone like him can't afford to bring Grandma a present. Even if he could, he'd probably just give her a key chain like Laura said."

Danny knew that they were laughing at him now. Just as he was laughing at the Huxley family. He assumed that besides the flu, stupidity was contagious. The grandmother he thought was wise was just as stupid as Susan.

Danny moved closer to Laura and spoke softly. "Are you done?"

"So what?"

"You've finished eating, right? It'll be afternoon soon, it's time for us to take care of our divorce!"

Although the voice was soft, Michelle could hear their conversation. She suddenly spoke out loud and took Laura's hand. "Wait! You can't leave Mom's birthday party until this loser gives you a birthday present!"

Danny turned to Michelle, "Huh! You still want another gift? Didn't the gift I just sent you satisfy you?"

Michelle and Laura looked at each other and then laughed. After that, Michelle cleared her throat and said, "Everyonlistensen to me. The parasitic son-in-law in the Huxley family just said that he had a present for Grandma. Did any of you see this loser give Grandma a present?"

The whole room looked at each other and laughed at Danny.

"We didn't see him give anything to Great Mrs. Huxley!"

"The last gift the Great Lady received was a set of saphire jewelry, does this man want to say that this gift came from him? Huh what kind of joke is this?"

"Ha ha ha. You idiot!"

The invited guests made fun of Danny one by one for trying to make a confession about the mysterious gift. They even thought Danny was hallucinating.

"Danny! You can fantasize, but don't go too far! The most likely person to give such a lavish gift would be a client of the Huxley family or perhaps Susan's fanatical fan!" Danny exclaimed.

"I totally agree with that. The Huxley family is a high-class family, having conglomerate clients is not unusual. Besides, my daughter is a model, it's only natural that she would have fans trying to get her attention," said Desmond.

Grandmother tapped her cane again, and everyone turned to her. "That's it, there's no point in discussing this!" The oldest woman in the Huxley family turned to Laura and said, "Laura, the sooner you get your divorce, the better. I'm getting a headache from this useless son-in-law!"

Laura nodded and turned to Danny. "Then we'll leave now! I can't be your wife anymore!"

"Danny, listen carefully, once you're officially divorced, you better get out of town! We're sick of you!" Matthew exclaimed.

Danny squinted at Matthew, "What right do you have to kick me out of town?"

Laura grunted and stomped, "Danny, are you thinking of postponing our divorce?"

Without waiting for Danny, Laura headed straight for the exit, and just then, a Lamborghini Aventador pulled up right in front of her. Soon, Tom Harold got out of it, smoothing his collar and leaning against the door. "I'll drive you!"

Laura nodded and sat down beside the steering wheel. Meanwhile, Tom turned to Danny and laughed. "Hey, you didn't expect me to give you a ride, did you? There are only two seats in this car, and someone like you doesn't deserve to ride in a luxury how about you take the bus?"

Danny took out his cell phone to call someone, ignoring Tom's taunts. The man was annoyed and finally started the engine of the noisy car right in front of Danny.

It only took them half an hour to register the divorce at the registry office. Danny didn't demand anything from Laura, and vice versa, so their divorce was granted on the spot. Within seven days, they could collect their divorce certificate.

"Huh! Danny, it's too late to beg now. Enjoy your miserable life!" taunted Laura.

"Hmm, thanks for getting me out of that stupid life!" Danny retorted.

Laura stomped her feet, and her hands clenched into fists. She bit her lip because she was at a loss for words to scold Danny, who was now waltzing past her.
