20. It Looks Like the Same

Grandmother turned back to the courier, who had just turned to leave the room. "What's the name of the gift giver?"

The courier shook his head. "I don't know, ma'am. All I remember is that he had almost white hair, was probably around fifty years old, and was wearing a suit. From the car's back seat, I could see the silhouette of a man looking down."

Grandmother looked at her son and daughter-in-law, then back at the courier. "Are you sure that this gift was meant for me?"

"Of course, he said it was to be received by Mrs. Victoria Huxley, and if asked who gave it, I was only asked to say it was from someone known to the Huxley family."

"Oh," Grandmother replied flatly.

"Is there anything else I can do, ma'am? If not, I'll excuse myself, as I must return to work," said the courier.

"Wait a minute!" Grandma took out her wallet and handed the courier a 50-dollar bill. "I'm in a good mood; take this before you go!"

The courier happily accepted the money from Grandma. Today was truly a lucky day for him.

"Grandma, hurry up and open the gift. I'm very curious about what the mysterious millionaire gave me! Susan exclaimed enthusiastically.

Susan and all the Huxley family members were curious about what Grandma had received. They all kept urging her to open her gift.

Grandma smiled, then turned to Desmond on her right. "Help me open it!"

Desmond nodded and began to slowly open the box. Once the box was opened, Desmond saw a neck mannequin adorned with a necklace, and next to it was another piece of jewelry.

Desmond lifted the neck mannequin slowly, and everyone was amazed as the necklace came into view.

"Wow, what a glittering and luxurious necklace! It must have cost a fortune," exclaimed Michelle, who loved the glittering object.

When the mannequin came out of the box, everyone rushed to get a closer look. It was a set of jewelry with sapphire gemstones.

"This grandmother is so beautiful. The person who gave it to her is very generous," Matthew said.

Grandma smiled, agreeing with her grandson. The jewelry set she received was truly luxurious and beautiful. It was estimated to be around one to three million dollars.

That's when Susan, Laura, Michelle, and Kelly asked Grandma for permission to touch the surface of the jewelry. "No problem, you can touch it, but remember to take turns and be careful!"

When it was Laura's turn to touch the jewelry, her eyes fell on the sapphire-edged ring around the mannequin's neck. Laura's forehead began to wrinkle as if she was thinking about something, and then she said spontaneously. "This is just like the ring Evan gave Grandma. It's just that it has a shinier sapphire stone and feels more solid."

Susan, who heard this, immediately turned to Laura with a glare. "What do you mean by saying that? Are you saying that the ring Evan gave you is a fake? Huh! It's not because your useless husband didn't bring a gift for Grandma that you can say that Evan's gift is a fake!"

Danny cleared his throat and stopped everything. "What are you all fussing about that jewelry for. Shouldn't you go to the experts if you want to know what's real and fake?"

At that time, all members of the Huxley family were silent. It could not be denied that what Danny said this time did make sense.

Danny again said flatly, "Grandma, the guests who came to your birthday party were rich people or important people in the government. Don't any of them have a business in jewelry?"

Danny said this out loud until a short, stocky man stood up from his seat. He turned to her and said, "Mrs. Huxley, I'm Phill Watson. I own a Gemma Royale jewelry store. I also have a certificate as a gemologist. If you'd like, I can help you check it out."

Desmond nodded and turned to his mother, "Mother, this is an excellent idea. I have seen Mr. Watson in magazines and on television. Several times, he has been asked to appraise jewels. So I don't think his observations will be in doubt."

Grandmother nodded, and the man walked over to Grandmother's table two tables away. Meanwhile, Anthony arrived with the ring Evan had given him.

Seeing Mr. Watson's arrival, Evan became uneasy and waited for the Huxleys to let their guard down so he could leave the party.

"Mr. Watson, I'm sorry to trouble you," Grandma said.

"No problem!" Mr. Watson took Evan's gift ring with his left hand while his right hand held the ring from the mysterious giver.
