Ethan’s POV

By the time I get to my room, my body is aching.

I tossed my tie onto a chair before unbuttoning my shirt. Today was hell. Meeting after meeting, signing contracts, shutting down greedy businessmen who thought they could outplay me, it was exhausting.

And Zara?

She wasn’t helping.

That little stunt she pulled downstairs.. trailing her finger down my chest, taunting me, yeah, she knew exactly what she was doing.

I exhale sharply, shaking my head. “Forget it.”

Right now, I need a shower.

The hot water pounds against my skin, loosening the tension in my shoulders.

I close my eyes, letting the warmth seep in.

For a moment, it’s just silence.

No business deals.

No sarcastic comments from Zara.

Just me and the water.

But then…..

Knock. Knock.

I frown.

Seriously?

"Who is it?" I call out, irritation already creeping into my voice.

Silence.

I wait a beat. Nothing.

Sighing, I turn off the shower and wrap a towel around my waist. Steam swirls around me as I step out of the bathroom, running a hand through my damp hair.

And then. I saw

Zara.

Standing there in one of my shirts.

My breath catches for a second before I mask it with indifference.

The oversized fabric barely covers her thighs, and her long, damp hair sticks to her skin. She looks almost vulnerable, but the glint in her eyes tells a different story. Her arms are crossed, her expression unreadable.

I raise an eyebrow. “What do you want?”

She shrugs. “Couldn’t sleep.”

“Not my problem.”

She smirks. “You sound irritated.”

I step closer, water still dripping from my hair. “That’s because I am.”

She doesn’t back away.

Instead, her gaze flickers to my chest, trailing over the droplets sliding down my skin.

I smirk. “See something you like?”

Her eyes snap back up. “No.”

Liar.

I lean against the doorframe, tilting my head. “Then why are you staring?”

She scoffs. “Maybe I’m just amazed by how full of yourself you are.”

I chuckle, shaking my head. “Sure, Princess. Whatever helps you sleep at night.”

She glares at the nickname. “Don’t call me that.”

I push off the doorframe, stepping closer. “Why not?”

“Because I hate it.”

I smirk. “No, you don’t.”

She swallows hard but doesn’t move.

Her breath hitches.

Her eyes flicker to my lips before darting away…like she’s fighting something. Fighting to kiss me.

And damn, I like it.

I reach out, brushing a damp strand of hair from her face, my fingers barely grazing her skin. She shivers.

“Tell me, Princess,” I murmur, my voice low. “Are you jealous?”

Her eyes widen. “Of what?”

I smirk. “The maid.”

She stiffens.

I chuckle, releasing her wrist. “Thought so.”

Her glare sharpens. “You’re impossible.”

“And you’re in denial.”

She huffs, turning to leave, but I catch her again, this time by the waist.

She gasps.

My grip is firm, my fingers resting just above her hips. Her breath shudders as she glances up at me, her lips slightly parted.

“What’s wrong?” I murmur, my voice teasing. “You’re usually better at hiding your emotions.”

Her cheeks flush. “I-I’m not…”

I lower my head, brushing my lips near her ear. “Not what?”

She trembles slightly, her body betraying her.

EROTIC PART

Ie took control, my hands gripping the back of her neck as I devoured her neck.

She moaned as my hands roamed down her sides, pulling me onto her lap. Heat coiled low in my stomach as I rocked against her, feeling the hard evidence of her desire pressing against me.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Ethan,” she muttered.

I smirked. “Maybe I like danger princess.”

My hands slid under the short t-shirt,my fingers tracing up her thighs before gripping them tightly. Without warning, I stood, lifting her effortlessly as I gasped and she clung to my shoulders.

ZARA pov

I barely had time to register the movement before my back hit the cold wall of his bathroom. He pressed against me, his mouth trailing hot, open-mouthed kisses down my neck, his hands gripping my hips so hard I knew I might have bruises tomorrow.

I didn’t care.

I arched against him, desperate for more, my hands fumbling with his abs. He growled when I raked my nails down his chest.

His gaze darkened as he took me in, his fingers tracing the curve of my waist before gripping my ass and lifting me again. I gasped as he carried me to the bed, tossing me onto the sheets before climbing over me.

For a second, I swear I was about to give in.

Then…

The door swings open.

Chris walks in, not again

Can this guy just stop being a joy killer.

And just like that, the moment shatters.

Why do I like this moment, damn…

END OF EROTIC

Chris freezes in the doorway, his eyes flickering between me and Ethan. His brows raise slightly, like he’s putting two and two together.

I quickly jerks away from him, my face turning a shade of red I’ve never seen before. “It’s not what it looks like,” I blurts out.

Chris folds his arms. “Oh? Because it looks like Ethan was about to…”

“Shut up,” I snaps, shooting him a glare.

Ethan chuckle, grabbing the towel that’s slipping from his waist. “Relax, Princess. No need to get so defensive he said smirking devilishly.”

I whirls around to him, my eyes blazing. “I told you not to call me that.”

Chris watches the exchange with mild anger. “Wow. The sexual tension in here is real thick zara.”

I groans. “Chris, I swear….”

Chris raises his hands. “Alright, alright. I was just coming to tell you both that the meeting for tomorrow has been moved to 8 a.m.” His eyes flicker toward me. “So maybe try to get some sleep instead of… whatever this is.”

I smirk. “Worried about me, Chris?” Ethan asked with a muggish grin on his face.

He rolls his eyes. “More like worried about Zara murdering you in your sleep, he replied already getting annoyed.”

Ethan exhales sharply, running his hand through his hair. “I’m leaving, I cutly interrupted the tension.”

I spins on my heels and storms toward the door, but Chris stops

her. “Wait.”

I groans. “What now?”

Chris leans against the wall, watching her carefully. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

Or was he trying to force it.

Ok now this is it, Ethan cutly interrupted.

  • Chapter 85 – The Vote That Changes Everything

Ethan's pov The boardroom was too quiet for what was about to happen. That kind of quiet that feels staged—like everyone already knows the ending, but they’re just waiting for you to walk into it blind. I stood at the head of the long mahogany table, the Carter Corp logo glaring back at me from the wall as if mocking my confidence. Every member of the board was in their place, faces blank, pens poised. I could feel the tension vibrating in the air, but beneath that, there was something else—calculated stillness. I’ve seen it before in predators waiting for the perfect strike.Chris sat three chairs down on my right, wearing the smug half-smile of a man who thought he’d already won. Next to him, Leonard’s shadow—Damien—leaned back casually in his chair, as if the vote wasn’t about the company my father built from the ground up. The company I bled for. I knew they’d been maneuvering behind the scenes, calling in old favors, planting doubts in the minds of weaker board members. I just h

  • Chapter 84 – Red on the Ledger

Alek's povPeople like Ethan Windsor think they understand leverage. They don’t. Leverage isn’t about who has the bigger gun or more money. It’s about knowing the one truth your enemy will never want the world to hear, and holding it like a blade over their throat until they beg to breathe. That’s what the Red Ledger is for—an underground compound, carved into bedrock beneath the coast of Varenska, where the dirtiest secrets of the world’s elite are kept alive. It’s a prison, yes, but not for punishment—for preservation. Everyone inside is a living insurance policy. And Elias Windsor… well, that boy is worth more than a dozen offshore accounts.I told them straight, no theatrics, no velvet diplomacy. “Your son is in Red Ledger.” Ethan stiffened instantly, shoulders tight like he wanted to break my jaw just for saying it. Zara’s eyes didn’t widen—no, she’s the type who goes still when the truth is bad enough to burn. But I saw the flicker, the smallest contraction in her breath. She kn

  • Chapter 83 – The Second Betrayal

Lisa's povThe hard drive in my coat pocket felt heavier than it should have—as if the data inside had weight, as if secrets could pull you down like stones in deep water. I’d been working for weeks, sifting through encrypted chat logs, fake invoices, and offshore routing numbers, piecing together a clean, irrefutable trail of Chris’s involvement with Leonard’s offshore network. This was the nail in his coffin, and I could already see Ethan’s face when I handed it over—cold, satisfied, ready to strike. But as I stepped out of the server room and into the dim hallway of the safehouse, something in the air shifted. It wasn’t sound exactly—more the absence of it. No clacking keyboards, no muted conversations. Just stillness, thick enough to coat the inside of my throat. It happened in a blur. A shadow moved in the corner of my vision, and before I could react, an arm snaked around my waist, the cold bite of steel pressed against my ribs. I caught the faint, familiar scent of bergamot an

  • Chapter 82 – Ties That Burn

Ethan's pov The air in Victoria’s penthouse was scented with roses, the expensive kind that came in a black velvet box and were meant to last for a year. A perfect metaphor for her—beautiful, preserved, but unnervingly artificial. She stood by the tall glass windows, backlit by the smoggy skyline, her silhouette poised like she’d been expecting me all along. “Ethan,” she greeted softly, voice honeyed but cautious. I didn’t return the courtesy. My mind had been gnawing at the evidence for days—messages traced, coded transfers, a trail that curved back to her. Now I was here, not for answers—I already had those—but for confirmation. I wanted to hear it from her lips, to see if she’d flinch when the truth hit daylight.“I know you’ve been feeding information to Leonard,” I said, each word deliberate, like a stone dropped into still water, rippling out with intent. Her face didn’t crumble the way I’d hoped—it remained eerily composed, but her eyes… they gave her away. A quick flicker of

  • Chapter 81 – The Woman from Zara’s Past

Zara's povI hadn’t seen Tatiana Morelli in six years, but her presence was still as potent as a knife at the throat. The Morelli estate in Florence had been her kingdom— halls, endless corridors, a place where loyalty was currency and betrayal was a death sentence. Tonight, though, we weren’t meeting under chandeliers and champagne flutes. I chose a quiet, shuttered wine bar on the far edge of the city, a place that smelled of damp oak and aged secrets. The rain outside clung to my coat as I stepped inside, and for a moment, I almost turned back. She was there already, leaning against the far booth like she owned the place, a glass of red in her hand, her eyes—those dark, bottomless eyes—fixed on me. Even from across the room, Tatiana radiated the kind of confidence that could make kings kneel. And me? I had to remind myself to keep breathing.“Zara.” She said my name like it was both a memory and a challenge, the corners of her mouth curving into something between a smile and a thre

  • Chapter 80 – No More Illusions

Ethan's pov The wind howled outside the study windows, dragging tree branches across the glass like claws. I barely noticed. I was staring at the surveillance board pinned to the wall, a disorganized chaos of photos, maps, and strings that connected dots only I seemed to see. My breath was shallow, my temples pounding. There were names—some crossed out in red, others circled. And in the center, three photos: Liv. Marco. And the latest—Alfred, the quiet chauffeur who had been with us for years. His face looked wrong now, like a mask I should have ripped off long ago. I didn’t hear Zara come in until her hand slid onto my shoulder. I flinched. My nerves were raw.“You didn’t sleep,” she said softly. Not a question. A statement.“Neither did you.”She didn’t argue. Just walked past me and sat on the couch, her movements careful, calculated. Something about her energy had changed. She was always strong, always composed—but this was different. There was steel in her now. Not the polished
