"It's not like that, Jackson. You're my son; of course, I would always prioritize you over anyone else. But this matter is delicate at this point, so you have to be patient," Anabel tried to calm him down.

"I still don't get it. You said you prioritize me, but you're trying to hand over what belongs to me to someone else. I worked so hard with dad and finally brought that company to the stage where it is today. Where was Lucifer? And uncle was even doing barely enough for the company back then," Jackson said, almost tearing up.

"I understand all this, Jackson. It's just not yet the right time, and can't you read the handwriting on the wall?" Anabel said with a worried look on her face as she took a step forward, reaching out her hand to hold him. But Jackson took a step back, avoiding her hand that was about to hold him.

Jackson stared at his mother for a while before nodding his head with a complicated expression on his face. "Fine, but I'm not interested in reading any handwriting, be it written on the wall or on the floor. And I won't stand by and watch anyone ride over me tomorrow." Jackson turned swiftly and stormed towards the door.

His mother reached out her hand to stop him, but he was already gone. Her fingers slowly curled back, and her arm fell to her side. Jackson shut the door with a loud bang, scaring his mom.

Anabel calmly sat on the bed. Her gaze lingered on the door for a while, and she closed her eyes, feeling exhausted.

"Fool... I'm just trying to protect you," she muttered.

Down at the end of the hallway, by the right corner, in Lucifer's room, Lucifer was comfortably sitting on the chair with a tense look on his face. He calmly removed the headset from his head just after the last words of Anabel sounded in his ears.

"All of you want my father's property?," Lucifer said with scorn. "Let's play this game then." He narrowed his gaze at the laptop screen, showing the audio surveillance connection. "But I'm really curious, what exactly is she protecting him from?" Lucifer muttered.

His gaze shifted towards the wristwatch on the table. He picked it up and brought it closer to his face. He furrowed his brows, as he felt the wristwatch to be familiar.

This was the same wristwatch he found in the basement earlier. On a closer look, there were stains of blood on the watch.

"Where have I seen this before?" he muttered as his gaze narrowed to the side.

He brought the watch up again and gave it a careful look. His hand suddenly froze and his gaze narrowed at some uneven letters engraved under the wristwatch.

"Till eternity with you, Rose. Not even time can separate us" Lucifer read those words aloud. His brows tightened and realization flashed in his eyes.

"If I'm not mistaken, this is my father's wristwatch. The one my mom gave to him on his 50th birthday."

"They must have kept him in the basement before. Now it seems he has been moved to another location." He kept the watch on the table in front of him.

"Uncle has been stealing and hiding a lot of things from my father. But I promise you, uncle, you and your accomplices—or any other people involved in this—will never get away with it," Lucifer muttered, rage flashing in his eyes.

...............

"What is going on!?" Martin's voice rang like thunder in the villa as he stormed outside.

Two of the security men arrived in front of him.

"I said, what is going on, you morons!?" Martin shouted again.

"Sir, someone sneaked into the basement. But before we could catch up, he had already escaped," one of them explained.

"Someone did what!?" Martin's eyes were almost popping out of their sockets. "Someone sneaked into the basement, and you allowed him to escape!?"

He raised the handgun and shot one of the security guards standing in front of him in the leg.

"Bang!"

The gunshot rang out in the villa, followed by the miserable cry of the man, who collapsed on the ground instantly while clutching his right leg in pain.

His colleague slowly began to retreat, fear written all over his face.

"You idiot, where do you think you're going?" Martin said, staring at the frightened man with a piercing gaze. The man stopped instantly and stood there, his legs shaking in terror.

"Where are the others?" Martin asked.

"Th-they are still searching for the intruder," the man said, with sweat rolling down his forehead.

Without wasting time, Martin immediately made his way towards the basement. As he arrived, he kicked the doors open and grabbed a torch from one of the security guards following behind him.

He walked in with vigilant eyes, his handgun pointing forward.

After checking the whole place, he didn't find anyone.

"Phewww!" Martin breathed in relief after going through the boxes and confirming that everything was intact and none was missing or broken.

'But who exactly could it be? Harrington? It better not be him. I will surely crush those companies once everything falls into my hands.'

Martin clenched his trembling hand into a fist, his eyes turning red with anger.

.................

At the mansion, in Lucifer's room, he was still sitting on the chair, but this time he was attending to the slight injury on his shoulder. After treating the wound properly, he suddenly got up.

He picked up his phone from the table and made a call. Looking at the screen, it seemed to be a group call, with four profiles showing on the screen.

"James," Lucifer said as the call connected.

"Yes, Boss," James answered.

"Get ready, we will be going to the company tomorrow," he said.

"Copied," James's voice came through the phone.

"Austin!" Lucifer called, with the phone still to his ear.

"Here!" a different voice responded from the other end.

"Is the new car ready?" Lucifer asked.

"Yes, boss," Austin replied.

"Good, make it available tomorrow morning."

"Understood," Austin said.

"Vivian, focus on the task I gave you. I need results within two days."

"Yes, babe," Vivian's romantic voice came from the other end.

"Don't mess with me," Lucifer's cold voice cut through the phone.

"Alright, boss," Vivian corrected herself.

Lucifer then hung up the phone.

"Let's see the trick you all want to play tomorrow," Lucifer smirked.

The air in the meeting room was so tense that some Board Advisors didn’t dare to breathe properly. A few shifted in their seats while others avoided eye contact, as if even looking up might drag them into trouble. As Lucifer walked into the boardroom, all attention turned towards him. Both hostile, calm, and disgusted gazes were piercing straight at him. Lucifer smiled like a joker, unfazed by the hostile gazes. As he approached the table, James walked in with a chair and positioned it behind him. Lucifer quietly sat down in front of everyone without batting an eye and calmly crossed his legs. "Lucifer, we have been waiting for you, and you're meant to be at the chairman's seat," Martin said. "I thought we are here to choose the new chairman? So why should I take the seat while I haven't been confirmed as one?" Lucifer said calmly as he observed everyone. He noticed his stepbrother staring at him with hatred in his eyes. Lucifer winked at him before shifting his attention back to
