Ryan did not sleep well that night. Even in the quiet house where he stayed, far away from town, his mind refused to rest. He sat by the window, staring into the dark street, thinking about everything that had happened. His life had changed too suddenly, and the past he tried so hard to bury kept pulling him back.
He rubbed his palms together slowly, a habit he developed over the years whenever he felt troubled. “I thought leaving town would bring me peace,” he whispered to himself. “But peace is something I’ve never had.”
Ryan stood up and walked to the small dining table where he had spread a few documents. Old documents. Painful documents. The ones he kept hidden for years.
On top of the pile was a picture of his father.
A tall man, smiling. A man who once owned one of the biggest companies in the state. A man who should still be alive.
Ryan picked up the picture gently, his fingers trembling. “Dad… I am trying. I promise I am trying.”
He touched the corner of the photo, remembering the night everything was destroyed. His father didn’t die from sickness. He was murdered. And the people who killed him had taken over the company the very next week. They changed everything, erased every trace of him, and made it look like his father had never built anything.
For years, Ryan had searched for clues. But everything always led to a dead end.
Still, he refused to stop.
He sat down and opened a small notebook. Inside were notes his father wrote before he died—warnings, fears, and details of strange things happening in the company. There were also a few names written down. Not full names. Just initials. As if his father knew he didn’t have much time left.
Ryan traced those initials with his thumb.

He did not know who they were yet. But he knew they played a part in everything.
Suddenly, his mind drifted to Clara’s family. Even though he stayed far away, he still cared about them. He still watched over them secretly. His men were always around the area, making sure no harm came to them. He treated them like the family he lost, even though they never knew his truth.
He leaned back on the chair and sighed deeply. “I hope they’re safe tonight.”
But then he remembered something Eric had said during their confrontation—a small sentence that Ryan could not forget:
“You don’t know anything, Ryan. And if you dig too deep, you won’t survive.”
It bothered him. Why would Eric say something like that? What did Eric know? And if he knew something about Ryan’s father’s death, why was he pretending?
Ryan slowly closed the notebook and set it aside. The more he thought about it, the more he felt something was not right. He did not trust Eric, not even for a second. And the fact that Eric suddenly became close to Clara’s family made everything even more suspicious.
He walked back to the window and gazed outside. His eyes became sharper, colder—filled with a quiet determination.
“I won’t let you hurt them,” he muttered. “And I won’t let you hide the truth.”
A single streetlight flickered outside. It reminded him of something his father used to tell him:
*“The truth doesn’t stay buried forever. Someone always digs it up.”*
Ryan clenched his jaw.
Maybe he was that someone.
He turned away from the window, pulled on his jacket, and grabbed his phone. He typed a message to one of his men.
“Keep watching the Harrison house. Day and night. No breaks.”
Then he added a second message:
“And find out everything about Eric. Every detail. Every lie.”
He dropped the phone on the table and sat back down, rubbing his eyes tiredly. He knew his life would become more dangerous as he continued searching. He knew the people who killed his father were powerful, and they wouldn’t hesitate to destroy him too.
But he had already made his choice.
He would uncover the truth.
Even if it cost him everything.
He looked at his father’s picture one last time before turning off the lights.
“Dad… I’ll finish what you started.”

Staying at home was making you bored.”Ava laughed. “Very bored.”They all laughed for a few seconds until Mrs Harrison suddenly became quiet. Her face changed a little.Clara noticed it. “Mum, what is it? You look worried.”Mrs Harrison sighed and looked at her hands. “There is something I want to tell both of you.”Ava and Clara looked at each other, then back at her.“What is it?” Ava asked.Mrs Harris
Chapter 154
The afternoon sun was slowly going down. The house was quiet because Clara had taken Ava to the backyard to play. Ryan was in the room resting. That was when Clara’s uncle walked slowly into the sitting room where Mrs Harrison was folding some clothes. He cleared his throat. “Grace… we need to talk.”Mrs Harrison looked up. “Talk about what? You look serious.”Clara’s uncle sat down slowly. He rubbed his palms together as if he was thinking deeply. “It’s about that boy in the station… Eric.”Mrs Harrison frowned immediately. “What about him?”He looked at her closely. “I am going to bail him out tomorrow morning.”Mrs Harrison dropped the clothes immediately. “God forbid! Why would you say that? You want to bail that troublemaker?”Clara’s uncle sighed. “Grace, calm down. Let us think well. The boy is suffering in that place.”Mrs Harrison shook her head fast. “He deserves to suffer! Do you know what he did? Do you know how he almost destroyed Clara and Ryan’s peace? How he behaved ba

Something was wrong, but he did not know what it was.Clara was still sleeping beside him, holding his hand. Ryan looked at her peaceful face and forced a smile. Chapter 152
Ryan woke up very early the next morning. He did not sleep well at all. His eyes were heavy, and his mind was still full of yesterday’s thoughts. But he stood up slowly and forced himself to move. He washed his face and looked into the mirror.“You must stay calm,” he told himself quietly. “You must watch him. You must not make mistakes.”He changed his clothes and walked out of the room. The house was quiet. Only the soft morning breeze entered through the open window. He walked toward the kitchen to drink water, but he stopped when he heard voices. It was Clara and her uncle.Ryan moved slowly and stood near the wall, not too close, but close enough to hear. He did not want them to know he was listening.Clara’s voice sounded calm. “Uncle, you should eat something. You just came back from a long trip.”Her uncle replied with a fake smile in his tone. “I am fine, Clara. Don’t worry about me.”Ryan could hear the change in the man’s voice. And Ryan kept asking himself the same question over and over again…“Why? Why did he hate me at first sight?”He replayed everything in his head. The moment the man entered the house. The way he smiled at Mrs Harrison. The way he hugged Clara. The way he carried himself with pride. And then… the way his face had changed the moment he saw Ryan standing beside Ava.The smile faded. The eyes narrowed. The body stiffened. And in that first second, Ryan had felt it—the dislike, the anger, the rejection. The man had looked at him like he was a danger. Like
