Two days later, the Harrison mansion looked peaceful again.
The party had become old news, but the gossip hadn’t stopped.
Some guests were still talking about how Ryan fought off five men alone.
Others said it was all luck.
Eric, however, was restless. His fake company was falling apart, and his debtors were calling nonstop.
He sat in his car, sweating, as his phone buzzed again.
“Hello?” he whispered.
“Eric Harrison,” a cold voice said. “You have twenty-four hours left. Pay up or we expose everything.”
Eric ended the call with shaking hands. “I can’t let this happen. If the family finds out, I’m finished.”
He leaned back, breathing hard, until an idea slowly formed in his mind.
A wicked smile appeared on his face.
“If I make that useless Ryan look guilty… then no one will ever suspect me.”
---
That evening, Eric went to see Clara’s mother.
He put on his sweetest smile. “Auntie, I need to warn you about something.”
She looked up from her phone. “What is it, Eric?”
“It’s about Ryan,” he said in a low voice. “I think he’s hiding something big. Some of my business friends saw him near a secret warehouse in town.”
Her eyes widened. “A warehouse?”
“Yes. And those men who came to the party? I think they were connected to him.”
“What?” She stood up. “You mean Ryan brought that trouble here?”
Eric nodded slowly. “I don’t have proof yet, but I’ll find it. You know I care about this family.”
Mrs. Harrison’s face hardened. “If that man causes more shame to this family, I’ll throw him out myself.”
Eric smiled inside. “That’s exactly what I wanted to hear,” he said silently.
---
Later that night, Clara returned from work, tired.
She found her mother pacing in the living room.
“What happened?” Clara asked.
Her mother turned sharply. “Where’s your husband?”
Clara blinked. “He’s outside fixing the light again.”
“Tell him to come in. I need to talk to him.”
Ryan walked in calmly, wiping his hands with a cloth.
“Yes, ma’am?”
Mrs. Harrison’s tone was sharp. “Where were you last night?”
Ryan raised a brow. “At home.”
“Don’t lie to me,” she snapped. “Someone saw you near a warehouse downtown.”
Ryan frowned slightly. “A warehouse?”
“Yes! What are you doing there, huh? Planning to bring more criminals to this family?”
Clara looked confused. “Mom, maybe it’s not him—”
“Clara! Stop defending him!” her mother shouted.
Ryan sighed quietly. “Believe whatever you want,” he said. “But I don’t go where I’m not needed.”
He turned and walked away before they could say more.
---
Outside, Ryan stood by the gate, looking up at the dark sky.
His phone buzzed again.
It was one of his men.
“Commander,” the voice said softly, “we found someone leaking your location. It’s the same man named Eric Harrison.”
Ryan’s jaw tightened. “So he wants a war.”
The voice paused. “Should we expose him?”
Ryan’s eyes softened again. “Not yet. If I fight back now, it’ll hurt Clara’s family. Let him play his game.”
He ended the call and put the phone away.
---
Inside the mansion, Clara sat on her bed, frustrated.
Her mother’s words echoed in her mind. “What if it’s true?” she whispered to herself.
Then she shook her head quickly. “No. Ryan might be quiet, but he’s not dangerous… right?”
Downstairs, Eric was talking to a man in a black hoodie near the back door.
“Do it tomorrow,” Eric said in a low voice. “Put the fake documents in Ryan’s bag. Once they find it, he’s done.”
The man nodded. “And my pay?”
“You’ll get it after the job,” Eric said, smirking.
As he walked away, Eric chuckled quietly. “Let’s see if the ‘legend’ can escape this one.”
---
That night, Ryan sat alone on the balcony, a faint breeze blowing through.
He could feel something was coming, but he didn’t rush to stop it.
He just looked up at the stars and murmured,
“The more they dig my grave, the deeper they’ll fall.”

Chapter 234

The street lights were on, but the area felt strange, almost forgotten. Her face looked calm, and for a moment, Ryan wished he could stay there and forget everything else. But he could not.The plan he made the night before stayed heavy in his mind.
