Chapter 11

When Detective Jack walked to Dallas, a car speed near, distracting their attention.

Christian stared out with a black mask on his face and immediately shot Jack, speeding the car far off.

The bullets went straight into Jack's chest, making him to fall flat.

Detective Helen was too stunned to move as Michael fainted because he was too scared. Helen wants to arrest the shooter, but she wants to save Jack and Michael at the same time.

Without wasting time, Dallas and Helen carried Michael and Jack into the car, and then drove them to the hospital.

Dallas cherishes the way Christian always save him from being caught. "He deserves to be promoted," Dallas thought to himself as he stood with Detective Helen in the hospital, not knowing that she was her sister.

Detective Helen was restless. She didn't want to lose Jack just like that.

After an hour, the news had spread around, and many were rushing into the hospital to check on Jack, but Doctor Desmond didn't allow them into the ward.

Dallas saw members of the Eye and the Blood group who visited Jack. He controlled his anger from fighting them because he didn't want to cause trouble in the hospital.

Not long, Helen rushed to the Doctor Desmond, who was coming to meet her.

"Doc, how's Jack?" she asked

"He had regain his consciousness," he said.

She was relieved. "What about the other man?"

"He's fine, and sleeping. But he was mentioning someone's name."

"He's calling Rosalie, right?" Dallas asked.

"No, Clara. Can you help him bring Clara?"

Dallas smiled, and his phone rang. It was Rosalie calling.

"Hello, what happened to my husband?" Dinah's voice came sharply.

"Nothing," Dallas said

"Nothing?" The voice of the old Mrs. Jones boomed. "He was in the hospital and you are saying nothing happened to him? What's the hospital's name?"

"Des Hospital."

The Jones's family drove into the hospital and went straight to the Michael's ward. Dinah was already weeping, but when she saw her husband sleeping fine on the bed, she wiped off her tears.

They all listen to Dallas as he explained how the incident start and end.

Everyone was glad to know that Michael was alive, especially Rosalie. But Aunty Xenia, Uncle Mason, and Dorcas Trey were sad. They don't want Michael to exit anymore.

"I shouldn't have come here because of every unacceptable behavior Michael and his wife had showed me," the old Mrs. Jones said as she sat down.

"If not because of Rosalie, I would have cut Michael, his wife and children off my family," she added.

"You are right, Granny," Linda, the daughter of Uncle Mason, said immediately. "I heard Rosalie slept with CEO Blake before getting the contract."

Granny removes her eyeglasses. "Did you mean what you just said?"

"Don't mind her, Granny, she's jealous of my success," Rosalie quickly defends herself.

"Keep shut, I don't ask you questions, and don't talk until I ask you," Granny said.

Rosalie can't control her tears from dropping from her sad eyes. And Dallas hates seeing Rosalie weeping.

"How sure are you, Linda?" Granny asked

"Hundred percent sure," Linda said

"Anyway, that was her own cup of tea. I don't care if she sleeps with CEO Blake to get the contract. As long as the contract was successful, I don't care what she uses her body to do. Everyone knows her poor husband didn't worth her body, anyway."

They laughed, except Michael's family.

"I now understand the reason Rosalie didn't want to leave Dallas. It's because she can enjoy her fresh body with those riches men," Aunty Xenia mocked.

"She should be cut from our family before she disgrace us," Doctor Trey said

"Her poor husband was disgracing us already," Granny said. "Let's give Rosalie some time to think about marrying another man. But if she still refused to leave Dallas, she might lose our precious family then."

Dinah couldn't say anything. She was staring at Michael, who was sleeping on the bed. If not because of Michael, she and her daughter won't be in this mess today.

The door was opened, and Clara walked in. She was scared as she met Jones’ family in the room. The food which she brought for Michael fell, making her to ran out.

Clara was scared they might asked who she was to Michael, because she won't know how to answer or how to lie. It will be good to run out.

"Bring her here. She mustn't escape," the old Mrs. Jones said to Uncle Mason and her guards.

The guards caught Clara when she was about to enter a taxicab, and drag her into the hospital.

Uncle Mason explained to the nurse that the Old Mrs. Jones want to see Clara, so that they would allow them to drag her in with her noise.

Clara remain silence the moment she found herself before Granny. She couldn't look up as well.

"Good Samaritan, why are you running away from us?" Granny asked her.

The guards forced Clara's head up, making her to stare in panicked.

"You came to do a favour for our family's member. You shouldn't have run away."

"I'm sorry, I don't know what am doing," Clara stuttered.

"Okay. It's fine. Can we know you more? And who are you to Michael? Why did you bring the food? Do you poison the food?"

Clara didn't know which questions to answer first. It will be good if she quickly answers the last one, she thought to herself.

With her hand up in the air, Clara said, "I can't do such a thing."

"Then why did you bring him food? Who are you to him?"

"He would be hungry when he wake."

"Okay... Who are you to him?" Granny's voice boomed. That was the main question she wants her to answer.

Clara remain silence as her brain went blank.

"Can someone bail her out?" Granny throws the question to others mockingly.

"She must be one of Michael's concubine," Doctor Trey said

"You guess right," Aunty Xenia agreed, laughing.

Granny rose and slapped Clara twice. "Why can't you talk? Are they right?"

Clara was weeping. She wasn't expecting to be ridiculed today. She then run out once more, but now, the Granny told her guards to allow her to go.

"Like father like daughter," Granny said as she look at Rosalie. "Don't forget my warning. I won't accept any apology if you refuse to leave your animal dung."

Everyone left except Rosalie and Dallas.

Dinah should have stayed with her husband, but her sorrow and anger didn't allow her. How dare Michael cheat on me? She thought to herself before storming out of the hospital.

Dallas hates that Rosalie was weeping. His missions were to make her happy, not to make her sad. He went close to her, and said what he don't want to say, "it would be well not to lose your family and job because of me. I love you, but love is not about possession. It’s about appreciation. We would be fine if we just divorce now."
