The party had come to an abrupt end soon after. It wasn’t like the banquet was over, instead, it was more about exchanging pleasantries. Since Carl Gerald had no one to talk to, he figured he might as well call it a day.

“Sara.” He called.

Sara seemed to be enjoying the food, and after the humiliation of Austin Tyler and Tiffany Raymond, she’d been especially ecstatic.

From the distance she waved off to the few ladies she was conversing with.

“What?” She asked as she approached her foster brother.

“Do you want to stay here forever?” Carl Gerald teased.

Sara Gerald formed a small frown, “I… I can’t say?” She teased back, playing with the fabric of her gown that she’d forgotten to be ‘too revealing’.

“I meant we’re leaving.” Carl responded in defeat.

“You could’ve just said so from the beginning.” She grabbed Carl Gerald’s sleeve.

Her hands trembled softly. Carl Gerald expected as much, the attention of the crowd had yet to dwindle. It was another factor that prevented him from stayi

Victor Tyler’s voice rang through the line, loud enough for the team to hear even without comms. “General Carl Gerald, what am I hearing about your mansion? What the hell happened?”General Carl Gerald's jaw tightened, his eyes still staring at Mr Eliot, who shrank under his gaze.“Victor Tyler, it’s a mess.”“I don't know who actually sponsored this whole shitty operation.”“The mansion’s gone—burned to the ground last night.”“We’ve got evidence pointing to Lara Peterson’s syndicate. They hit us hard, probably to send a message.”“I’m in the middle of something right now, dealing with a lead.”Victor Tyler's voice roared back, thick with anger. “A message? That mansion was my gift to you and Sara!”“I poured my heart into that place, General Carl Gerald, that mansion cost me a lot of billions of dollars and now you’re telling me it’s ash?”“Lara Peterson’s crew did this? You better have names, because I’m not letting this slide!”“I will not let any of those animals mess around with

Back on the perch, the team’s comms buzzed to life.Sara Gerald's voice was sharp, matching Lieutenant Alex’s intensity. “Warehouse on the east side? That’s the same one Mrs Juliet Marcus just flagged. Either he’s telling the truth, or he’s a damn good liar.”Mrs Juliet Marcus’s tone was cold, her sarcasm biting. “Good liar? He’s not that good. But I’ll cross-check it.”“If Martinez is real and he’s at that warehouse, we’ve got a lead. If not, Mr Eliot’s just digging his own grave.”“I wouldn't want to be him because the last person that tried to make a fool out of General Carl Gerald actually had his eyes plugged out for that singular action.”“If Mr Eliot is telling the truth, if Martinez is being held in that warehouse, then I bet that's where Lara Peterson, Doctor Marvin, Nurse Angela and Nurse Sabrina are holding Debra Zachs hostage.”“Oh, poor Debra Zachs, she was just recovering from her injuries when this bastards led by Lara Peterson, Doctor Marvin, Nurse Angela and Nurse S

  • Chapter 173:

Mrs Juliet Marcus’s fingers paused on her keyboard, her tone confident. “Just got a ping.”“The warehouse is leased to a shell company—the same one tied to Lara Peterson’s offshore account.”“It’s a safe bet that’s where Mr Eliot’s been running his errands.”“If General Carl Gerald can get him to confirm it, we’ve got a solid lead.” Mrs Juliet Marcus's voice was laced with a mix of anger and determination.Detective Steve grinned, his voice was a bit gritty. “Solid lead? That’s a gold mine.”“General Carl Gerald just needs to keep pushing. Mr Eliot’s already breaking—look at him. Guy’s a mess.”Lieutenant Alex chuckled, his tone cold. “Mess? He’s a walking disaster. General Carl Gerald has actually got him right where we want him.”“One more question, and he’ll spill everything—Lara Peterson, Doctor Marvin, Nurse Angela, Nurse Sabrina the whole damn syndicate, I bet it's not just these guys running this operations, there might be other people involved in this whole crime syndicate she

  • Chapter 172:

Detective Steve glanced over, his voice low but intense. “Regret’s an understatement. Guy’s already crying like a kid caught stealing cookies.”But Sara Gerald's got a point—what do we do with him? Say he spills, names Lara Peterson, Doctor Marvin, Nurse Sabrina and Nurse Angela, Then what?”“We haul him in, or we use him to get to the bigger fish?”Lieutenant Alex’s eyes narrowed, his tone cold.“Use him? Detective Steve, you’re dreaming.”“Guys like Mr Eliot don’t flip—they flop.”“He’ll say whatever gets him out of this mess, then bolt the second we turn our backs.”“I say we lock him up, let him sweat in a cell.”“General Carl Gerald can decide what’s next, but I’m not betting on this guy leading us to Lara Peterson, Doctor Marvin, Nurse Angela or Nurse Sabrina.”Sara Gerald tilted her head, her voice sharp and sarcastic. “Lock him up? Lieutenant Alex, you’re starting to sound like a cop show cliché. But you’re not wrong—he’s a flight risk.”“Still, if he’s got info on the syndic

  • Chapter 171:

Mrs Juliet Marcus raised an eyebrow, her voice sharp and sceptical. “Martinez? Come on, Sara Gerald, you think Mr Eliot’s got a brother we don’t know about?”“I’ve got files on this guy thicker than a phone book.”“No mention of Martinez anywhere. He’s making it up, throwing out names to buy time.”“Classic move. If he’s got a brother, I’ll find him in ten minutes, but I’m betting it’s a ghost story.” Mrs Juliet Marcus's voice was laced with a mixture of determination and curiosity.Detective Steve chuckled, his tone matching their biting anger and determination. “Ghost story or not, Mr Eliot’s sweating bullets.”“Look at him—the guy’s practically shaking.”“If he’s lying, he’s doing a damn good job of looking pathetic.”“But I’m with Mrs Juliet Marcus. No way he’s got a brother in trouble.”“He’s just tossing out bait, hoping we bite and let him off easy.”Lieutenant Alex shifted slightly, his eyes never leaving the scope.“Bait, huh? Well, he’s fishing in the wrong pond.”“General

Back at where Mr Eliot is crying at the feet of General Carl Gerald, General Carl Gerald is still staring at Mr Eliot as he wept at his feet.“Mr Eliot, I don't have time for this whole shenanigan play of yours!”“What is it that you are talking about?” General Carl Gerald asked as he gazed at Mr Eliot. He actually had his fully loaded Desert Eagle behind his back but hadn't even pulled it out yet.Mr Eliot didn't say a word but continued crying at the feet of General Carl Gerald.“Speak immediately, Mr Eliot!” General Carl Gerald said as he moved to connect a deadly blow to the jawline of Mr Eliot but he immediately stopped for some reason.Mr Eliot slowly took a deep breath before staring at General Carl Gerald, he tried to stand up but he was immediately stopped by General Carl Gerald.“Stop right there Mr Eliot, don't move, don't even think about it!”“Don't even think about doing anything funny at this point!” General Carl Gerald immediately added, his voice was laced with a mixt
