The first zombie lurched toward Ștefan with frightening speed. Behind the safety of Fortress Aegis, dozens of soldiers rushed to the battlements, rifles already raised. Through binoculars, Captain Elena tracked every movement unfolding below.

Around her, civilians crowded the walls despite repeated orders to stay back. They knew what came next. Everyone had seen enough exiles thrown into the wasteland to recognise the beginning of an execution. No one had ever survived.

The infected staggered closer, its torn military jacket fluttering in the wind. Rotting flesh hung from one side of its face, and its fingers ended in blackened claws stained with old blood. It was less than ten meters away. Five.

Three. Several civilians turned away, unable to watch the commander's son be torn apart. Instead of lunging, the zombie slowed. Its head tilted as though listening to a voice that no living person could hear.

The creature's milky eyes widened. Then, with a heavy thud that echoed through the deserted street, it lowered itself onto one knee. The entire fortress fell into stunned disbelief."What...?" one guard whispered.

"No..." another muttered, gripping the wall so tightly his knuckles turned white. Below, Ștefan stared at the kneeling creature, convinced he was hallucinating.

The zombie did not attack. It did not snarl. It bowed. Before he could make sense of what he was seeing, another infected emerged from a collapsed storefront. Its broken leg dragged across the pavement as it approached.

The soldiers inhaled sharply. Surely this one would attack. Instead, it stopped beside the first zombie and knelt in the same manner. Then came a third. A fourth.

Within moments, infected began pouring from every alley and shattered building. Hundreds of decaying figures converged on the street surrounding Ștefan. The crowd atop the fortress walls recoiled in horror.

"He's surrounded!"They're gathering for the kill!"Captain Elena narrowed her eyes.No..."Her voice barely rose above a whisper. They're forming ranks."

One after another, the undead lowered themselves until the ruined avenue resembled an enormous throne room filled with silent subjects awaiting their ruler. No growls disturbed the air.No feeding frenzy erupted.

The monsters that had hunted humanity for decades remained perfectly still. At the centre of them all stood one bewildered young man. A piercing pain exploded behind Ștefan's eyes.

He staggered, clutching his temples as countless unfamiliar memories flashed through his mind. A throne carved from black stone. An endless army of kneeling undead.A crown fashioned from bone and crimson crystal.

The visions vanished as quickly as they had come. Then a calm mechanical voice echoed inside his consciousness. Bloodline  Scan Complete.Ștefan froze.

The voice did not come from outside. It came from within. Golden symbols unfolded before his eyes like translucent glass. ZOMBIE  KING SYSTEM Status: Initialising...Bloodline ConfirmedAuthority Recognized

Evolution Available Undead Loyalty: Absolute His heartbeat thundered in his ears. He blinked repeatedly. The glowing words remained.

"I'm losing my mind," he murmured. The mechanical voice answered immediately.Negative."

"Your dormant bloodline has awakened."Above the walls, Elena saw him speaking to empty air."What is he doing?" one officer asked."I don't know," she admitted. And that frightens me more than the zombies."

The glowing interface expanded. Ancient symbols rotated around its edges, unlike any technology humanity had created since the apocalypse. Fragments of forgotten language shifted into words he somehow understood.

Host Identified Name: Ștefan DrăghiciTitle: Unawakened Monarch Bloodline Purity: 100%Current Authority: Dormant Primary Objective: Restore the Throne of the Dead. A chill spread through him.

"What am I?"For the first time, the voice almost sounded... ancient. Not cold. Not mechanical.Simply impossibly old.

"Welcome back..."The pause stretched just long enough for dread to take root....Your Majesty."

The words echoed through every corner of his mind.

"My Majesty?" Ștefan whispered."There has to be some mistake."No mistake detected."You've confused me with someone else."Negative."

The symbols shifted again. Another notification appeared. Historical  Record Unsealed: The First Zombie King has left a living heir.Ștefan's breathing became uneven.

"My father was human."Correct. My mother was human."Correct."Then how can I possibly""You are the last Zombie King."

The sentence struck him harder than Adrian's betrayal ever had. Zombie King. The title sounded impossible.Absurd.Everything humanity believed about the infected collapsed beneath those three words.

He looked at the kneeling undead surrounding him. None showed the slightest sign of aggression. Instead, they waited.Patiently.Almost respectfully. His gaze drifted toward the fortress.

Tiny figures crowded the battlements, staring down in disbelief. For the first time in his life, the distance between him and Fortress Aegis felt immeasurable.

He no longer belonged to the people behind those walls. Yet he did not belong among the dead either. The realisation settled heavily upon him. If this power was real, it could become humanity's greatest hope. Or its final catastrophe. His father's teachings echoed in his memory.

"Power doesn't make a leader."Responsibility does."

The words grounded him. Whatever this strange inheritance meant, he would decide how to use it. Not Adrian. Not the System. Not fate itself.

A sudden vibration rippled beneath the cracked pavement. Every kneeling zombie lifted its head simultaneously. The perfect formation dissolved. Instead of advancing toward Ștefan, the undead retreated several cautious steps. Fear.

He recognised it instantly. The monsters were afraid. A deep roar rolled through the ruins, powerful enough to shake broken windows from nearby buildings. Concrete fractured.

A burned-out bus was shoved aside as though it weighed nothing. From the shadow between two collapsed towers emerged an enormous figure nearly four meters tall.

Its grey skin was plated with jagged bone armour, and one massive arm ended in a grotesque claw capable of tearing armoured vehicles apart. Faded military tags still hung around its thick neck, suggesting it had once been human before evolving into something far more terrifying.

Even the countless zombies surrounding Ștefan lowered their heads. The System issued a new warning.WARNING: High-Tier Mutant Detected.Classification: Unknown. The colossal creature's crimson eyes locked onto Ștefan. Then it took its first thunderous step forward.
