Power is power!

And sometimes you don't need to chase after it when you have money.

Money can buy you power.

I could see the look on Derek's face. The disdainful look he had on. Everyone was beginning to consider being his friend while some of the ladies were trying to cling to me.

Olivia and I had a deal, so why can't I date other ladies?

When you have the money, things are quite easy. You don't need to be specific about the things you want or like. You go after it all.

My gaze darted towards Selena and her friends. I knew they were talking about me, but who cares? I was living the life I had always dreamed about.

The girls.

The glory.

And of course the fancy look.

The system was really a blessing in disguise for me, and I am going to make sure I utilise every single chance I get to humiliate Derek and Selena.

Olivia walked closer to me, bringing my face closer to hers with her fingertips. "Can I have your undivided attention for tonight?" She said, smiling.

At first, I thought the system was a favor. All I needed was to play my games, but now I can't say that it was anymore. It was slowly turning into my worst nightmare. Bright and shiny. I got out of the door in my neatly tailored clothes; they clung to my body like my second skin. I knew Eliot was going to come at me with everything he had. I looked at my phone, and I saw a picture of him flying around. My mind replayed the incident that happened a few days ago. I had broken his nose with the help of the system. But now, the mysterious system was a double-edged sword, and I don't know if it was in my favor or against me. But I knew I had to hide from Eliot, who might possibly want revenge against me, and of course Derek, whose motive was yet to be understood. [DING!] My heart raced. The sound of my phone now was more like a call to glory for me. Spending the money after each win was great, but what about the consequences? That was what I hadn't thought about. And if Mrs

My heart beat fast, and I could hear it pumping each liter of blood. It was like I had been passed a death sentence. How can the game suddenly upgrade itself from gaining coins into something so evil, so deadly? The fact that I didn't know the other participants made it even scarier. My mind couldn't stop thinking about Derek. I bragged and showed off how wealthy I was through the system, and now this. And Elliot, the same guy I had beaten with the help of the system too. What if he wanted revenge? What if the system was doing this on purpose? The bad blood. The rage. The revenge. It was now evident that the system was feeding on it all. I wondered why I was picked.I was now getting it. The system must have picked users based on emotions, feelings, and mainly the level of poverty.I remembered the life I lived before the system helped.I was thrown out of my house, and I had to manage with Mrs. Tracy, who was now going to have a big shop thanks to me.My mind crossed the period of wh

Mrs. Tracy’s face suddenly turned grim, and for the first time since I’d known her, she looked truly haunted—like a ghost from her past had just returned and sat beside her in that sterile hospital room.I could see the sadness in her eyes, and I began to wonder what truly happened to her son.She leaned forward, clasping her hands together as if praying for strength. Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke.“It was around six years ago. My boy, Caleb, had just turned seventeen. He was always a bright kid—loved coding, gaming… all those things I never quite understood. I thought he was just obsessed with virtual worlds. I used to tease him about it. But then…”She paused, her gaze fixed on the window as if replaying a scene only she could see.“Then he started acting strange. He became quiet and withdrawn. Some nights, he wouldn’t sleep. He’d pace the room, mumbling things like ‘I need to level up’ or ‘I can’t let the others beat me to the artifact.’ At first, I thought he was just g

" Wake up." " Wake up." The voice kept echoing inside my head like a person seated right next to me. I opened my eyes slowly, the harsh light flashed into my eyes and I shut them back. " Are you awake son?" Mrs Tracy said rushing to my side. She grabbed my hand and I could feel the warmth in them. I let out a soft smile as my eyes fluttered again. " You are fine." I said with a smile on my lips. " Don't scare me like that again, Jason." Mrs Tracy said slowly. I looked at her and I felt loved. She was the mother I never had and I was going to make sure I protect her but I don't know for how long.I had just brought her into hell. My hellish life and now she was paying for the sins she didn't commit. " I am sorry, I shouldn't have come begging for your help." I said as tears streamed down my face. " You shouldn't be sorry for anything, Jason. I am glad you are in my life." Mrs Tracy said cleaning the watery fluid that was coming out of my eyes. " I knew this was going to happen

I stared at the message right before my eye, and I could barely believe it. I could feel the anger inside of me rise so much that I could explode. [ DING !] [ DING !] [ DING !] All the students grabbed their phones, including Olivia. They all began to laugh while some looked at me. "I told you this was going to come with consequences." Olivia said with a smirk on her face. "He should have expected this." "Eliot doesn't take no for an answer." "Who doesn't want to be friends with Elliot?" [ DING! ] [System task: Save Tracy from humiliation] [ System reward: $23.00 or body build ] I don't know what to pick for now. My head was crowded as I rushed out of the prom room with Olivia running after me. If there is one thing all the students loved, it was getting involved in others' business. I got to my car, and I noticed it had been crashed and the tyres were flat. I clenched my hands in anger. My face darted towards Derek, and he laughed. Probably trying to take credit for wh
