“I’ll call the cops and let them deal with it! Don’t blame me for not reminding you. Stealing something worth over hundreds of millions of dollars will warrant a jail term of 60 years and above!” Drew spoke confidently.

Before Edward could open his mouth to speak, Drew had already dialed the police's number, explaining to them what he thought had happened.

Fifteen minutes later, two uniformed police officers arrived at the Hotel. Drew and Stella, who were waiting, immediately walked up to the police officers when they saw them.

“Sirs, I was the one who called the police.”

One of the police officers asked, “You must be Miss Stella Scott, right? You said that Edward has stolen millions of dollars, is that right?”

Drew nodded and said, “Yes, Edward is a live-in son-in-law, and we are about to get divorced. He stole some items worth more than seven hundred billion dollars. He even hired six hooded men to bring it into this hotel!”

“Sirs, please quickly arrest him!” The police officer who have never met Edward before went to the middle of the gathering and said, “Call Edward and tell him to come before me.”

There was silence for a few seconds as everyone waited for Edward to walk out from the side, confessing to have committed the crime, however, none of that occured.

Drew said pointing at Edward with high confidence, “He must be too scared to come out now because he’s guilty of theft!”

The police officer walked towards Edward before speaking, “Are you Mr. Edward?” the police officer asked.

Edward said with a smile, “Yes.”

A bespectacled police officer took the initiative to introduce himself, “I am Chief Lee of the district police station. We received a police report from Miss Stella Scott. She claimed you stole some items that’s worth over seven hundred billion dollars a few minutes ago. Is there such a thing?”

Edward answered truthfully, “I didn’t steal anything from anywhere.”

Chief Lee continued, “Pardon me for being presumptuous, but I heard that you are the Scott’ live-in son-in-law, and you don’t have much money. For the past six months, you’ve been working as a cleaner at your wife's university with an income of $75 per month....”

No matter how Chief lee put it, it was very very impossible to save up to seven hundred billion dollars even if he started saving when he first came into this world. At this juncture, Chief Lee, who was also a man, took pity on Jordan.

‘The Scott's are too stingy. They have at least millions worth of assets. Maybe if they had at least given him a few tens of thousands of dollars, he wouldn't have resulted to this cheap underhanded method of earning money, now he was going to spend the rest of his life in prison if this allegation turned out to be true..”

Chief Lee said, “Look, there’s a Mona Lisa painting that is equivalent to 1 billion dollars, Five boxes of jewelries worth millions of dollars, The ...... ” Chief lee's eyes bulged out when he saw a particular item ”These items, including the ming dynasty vase, They are rare and valuable items that even the president couldn't get his hand upon!“

Seeing the items in front of him, Chief lee couldn't help but burst into laughter, disbelief written all over his face. It was very much impossible for this young man with tarnished reputation and dried pockets to get such an item.

Or else, these items aren't the reald deal but just some counterfeit!

But.... Even to get a fake ding dynasty vase and Mona Lisa's painting, a person needed at least thirty million dollars to get a counterfeit crafted.

“Since you didn’t steal these items, where did you get the money you used to buy it from?”

“Officer, can we talk privately”

Edward did not wait for his answer but got up and walked towards a corner to grab a contract that he had hidden then he handed it to the police officer.

“Chief Lee, this is the equity transfer contract of D&C's Corporation. I’m now the largest shareholder and the newly appointed CEO of D&C's Corporation. This is my business card!”

Edward handed the CEO business card of D&C's Corporation to Chief Lee!

This particular business card was a Swiss metal card adorned with stunning diamonds. Its black background and gold lettering added to its elegance. The diamonds used in creating the set of business cards were estimated to exceed 30 carats, making each card worth a whopping $1,500. Not only that, these cards were printed in limited sets and had been customized specifically for Dominick by D&C's Corporation. The cost of these unique cards could rival the price of a house in a third-tier city.

Chief Lee, upon receiving the business card, was instantly shocked abd amazed by the dazzling diamonds embellishing it. He couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, these diamonds are incredibly impressive! Each business card is worth a fortune! This is no ordinary card, that's for sure!"

Edward nodded with a smile, "Indeed, Chief Lee. These cards were specially crafted for me by D&C's Corporation. They wanted to create something truly memorable and distinct."

As Chief Lee examined the card, he noticed Edward's name clearly stated on it, further confirming his association with D&C's Corporation. However, a police officer raised doubts about the authenticity of the contract and business card, as fabrications were quite common in their line of work.

The skeptical police officer questioned, "Chief, couldn't this contract and these business cards be fabricated? We've seen our fair share of forged documents in the past."

Chief Lee pondered for a moment before responding, "You're right; it's not uncommon for people to create fake contracts or embellished business cards. But we need to investigate further. Edward here seems confident in the authenticity of his documents. Let's see if we can find any information on DataVerse."

To verify Edward's information, Chief Lee suggested checking the DataVerse database, a comprehensive business query tool that contained data on millions of social entities, including corporate backgrounds and information about business owners. Edward, in response, revealed that Dr. Ray Donovan, the founder of DataVerse, was his second brother's former college classmate. He had asked Dr. Donovan to hide his information temporarily to prevent others from accessing it before he officially took over his position.

Intrigued by this connection, the police officer asked, "So, you have some influential connections, Mr. Edward. That makes things even more interesting. If Datai verifies your information, it might strengthen your case."

Edward smiled and replied, "Yes, I'm fortunate to have such connections. My brother and Dr. Donovan go way back, which allows me certain privileges. I appreciate your understanding and patience in this matter."

To dispel any lingering doubts, Edward dialed Dr. Donovan's number and requested him to unhide his data for ten minutes. While waiting, Edward engaged Chief Lee and the police officer in conversation and discussing recent events. After a short while, Edward received a text message, indicating that his data was now accessible. He glanced at it and then turned to Chief Lee, saying, "You can check DataVerse's now, Chief. Hopefully, it will provide the evidence you need"

Chief Lee eagerly took Edward's phone, opening the DataVerse app to search for D&C's Corporation. To his surprise and relief, he found Edward's name and photo in the personnel section of the company. Excitedly, he exclaimed, "Edward Jones, CEO of D&C's Corporation! It's all there. Your name and photo match perfectly!"

Feeling somewhat vindicated, the police officer next to Chief Lee still had his guard up. "Could it have been done by a hacker? After all, we know how skilled they can be at manipulating information."

Edward, understanding the officer's concern, responded calmly, "I can assure you that this is not the work of a hacker. The Founder of DataVerse, Dr. Donovan, also happens to be my second brother's former classmate. He is trustworthy, and l asked him for this favor personally"

The police officer seemed slightly convinced but remained cautious. "We've seen cases where hackers compromise even the most secure systems. Is there any other way we can confirm your identity?"

With a hint of amusement, Edward opened the text message interface on his cellphone and handed it to Chief Lee. He said, "Chief Lee, I initially didn't want to flaunt my wealth, but since you guys still don't believe me, l'Il have to do this."

Chief Lee took the cell phone and saw that it was a transaction alert from a bank. His eyes widened as he read the details aloud, "Amount: 125,000,000 dollars... Remaining Balance: 7,553,494,532 dollars!"

The police officer, stunned by the sheer magnitude of the figures, exclaimed, "You have... more than a billion dollars!"

Edward nodded calmly, "Yes, gentlemen, this is just one of my cards. The value in it alone exceeds the combined assets of the entire Eliss Scott's family. I hope this clarifies any doubts and assures you of my innocence.!"

The two police officers counted the zeroes on the transaction alert for a long time, their skepticism fading away. They now understood that someone as affluent as Edward had no need to resort to theft. Chief Lee, genuinely curious, asked, "Mr. Jones, you should be the noble heir of a wealthy family, right? So why were you willing to be a live-in son-in-law of the Scotts?"

Edward's expression turned somewhat somber as he replied, leaving zero loopholes behind, "This arrangement was thrust upon me by my family, and | had little choice but to comply. I hope that you two can keep it a secret, especially from the Scotts. I no longer wish to have any further involvement with them."

Chief Lee nodded empathetically, understanding the weight of the situation. "Rest assured, Mr. Jones. Your privacy is of utmost importance to us. We won't disclose this matter to anyone else"

Edward nodded, "I appreciate your understanding and cooperation."

With their conversation concluded, Chief Lee and the police officer prepared to leave. Edward bid them farewell, shaking their hands.

"Thank you for your time, officers. Take care, and I wish you all the best in your investigations."

As they walked out of the corridor, Chief Lee turned back and added, "Remember, should you ever need our assistance, don't hesitate to contact us, Mr. Jones. We're here to help."

Edward smiled appreciatively. "I will keep that in mind, Chief Lee. Thank you again. Goodbye."
