The word ‘Young Heir' still resounded in Asher's ears as he maintained surprised eye contact with everyone kneeling before him.
Less than twenty hours ago, he was disgraced and stripped of his military portfolio, and within a twinkle of an eye, he was being honored by people who saw him as their own. General Hale didn't lead Asher toward the grand hall. Instead, he took a narrow stone path behind the estate. Neither of them had spoken since the last unexpected exaltation. A loud silence filled the room. It was the silence between people protecting the same memories. They stopped before a small wooden house. It was old. The paint had faded with time, and vines had climbed across one side of the wall. Asher stared at it for several seconds and finally widened his lips: "It hasn't changed." General Hale smiled: "No. We weren't allowed to change it." Asher slowly pushed the door open. The room was exactly as he remembered. A bookshelf stood against the wall. A worn sofa faced the fireplace. An old chessboard still rested on the small table between two chairs; one of the black pieces remained tipped over, and nobody had touched it. It looked as though the owner had stepped outside and would return at any moment. Asher walked to the bookshelf. His fingers brushed across the dusty wood. A faint smile appeared on his face: "He always hid books here." General Hale chuckled: "And you always pretended not to know." "He thought I never found them." "He always knew." General Hale's answer made both men laugh quietly. The chuckle didn't last long. Asher's eyes settled on the empty chair beside the fireplace. His smile slowly faded: "Where is he?" General Hale looked at the chair, too. For a long moment, he said nothing. Finally, he answered: "I don't know." Asher turned, confusion laced in his expression: "You don't know?" General Hale slowly shook his head: "The night he left..." "He gathered all of us." "He gave us our duties, and looked at this chair, and said one day you'd sit across from it again." Asher’s curiosity piqued: "And then?" "He walked away." "Did he say where he was going?" "No." Asher's countenance fell for a moment: "Did he say when he'd return?" "No." The room became quiet again. General Hale walked to the fireplace. He picked up the fallen chess piece and placed it back on the board. "He only left us one command." Asher stepped closer to him. "'Never bring him home while he can still stand on his own.'" "'If he can solve his own battles… Stay out of his way. The day he loses everything… Bring him home.'" Asher’s eyelids blinked in hunger for more information. General Vale caught that and continued: "The Master always saw farther than the rest of us and knew you'd return someday." A knock came at the door. An elderly man stepped inside and bowed respectfully. "General. The accumulated reports as requested." General Hale accepted the folder, but he didn't open it. Instead, he handed it to Asher. "For you." Asher glanced in observation: "I've only just returned." "And you've always been responsible." General Hale retorted: "You'll understand." Asher opened the folder. The first page wasn't about business: It wasn't about money or about politics. It was a newspaper clipping from eight years ago. YOUNGEST MAJOR GENERAL PROMOTED. The second page… Another clipping. GENERAL RIVER LEADS BORDER RESCUE. The third GENERAL RIVER ACCUSED OF NATIONAL CRIMES The fifth. DISHONORABLY DISCHARGED. Asher slowly looked up. General Hale understood the question before it was asked: "We kept every headline and victory." "Every insult. We never stopped watching." Asher closed the folder: "You knew everything." "We did." "Then why didn't you come earlier?" General Hale smiled sadly: "Because you were still standing." "If we had stepped in… We would have insulted the man you had become." Asher looked out the window. For years... He had believed he was fighting alone. Now he realized he had simply been fighting without seeing the people standing behind him. General Hale walked toward the door: "Come. There's one last place." They crossed the courtyard, unlike every other building on the estate. Its doors were made of steel. But before Asher could step inside… The sound of hurried footsteps echoed behind them. One of the elders approached quickly, his expression was serious: "General." General Hale turned: "What is it?" The old man lowered his voice: "Our friends have confirmed it." General Hale's eyes narrowed slightly: "So soon?" "They've already started looking for the Young Heir." Asher looked from one man to the other: "Who's looking for me?" Neither of them answered immediately. General Hale looked toward the dark room beyond the steel doors. Then back at Asher. A faint smile appeared on his weathered face. "It seems… The people who feared your return have learned you're finally home." He pushed the steel door open, and darkness filled the room. General Hale didn't ask Asher to enter. He simply asked one quiet question: "Young Heir… If tomorrow the Military Council begged you to wear that uniform again… would you?" Asher didn't need time to think. He looked once at the headlines in his hand. Then he folded the papers in half. "That depends..." General Hale nodded: "What do you really want then?" Asher looked into the darkness beyond the open steel door. His voice was calm: "I want something much bigger.”Latest Chapter
105: Real Invitation
The black card lay on the table; nobody touched it again. After a long moment, Lucas spoke about the question lingering in everyone's mind."What now, commander?"Asher picked up the card again and turned it over slowly, paying attention to every corner."We answer."Nathan looked at him. "You really think it was an invitation?"Asher nodded. "It wasn't a warning or a threat but an invitation."Arthur crossed his arms. "How can you be so sure?"Asher held up the card. "If he wanted to scare us, he would have stayed hidden. If he wanted to kill us, he had the chance to shoot through before he identified him.""He did neither. I believe he wanted me to know he was there."The more they thought about it, the more Asher's words made sense.Lucas placed a cup of coffee on the table. "I still don't like him."Nathan smiled. "I don't think we're supposed to."Lucas shrugged. "Exactly

The charity gala continued as if nothing had happened. Music played softly in the background. Guests laughed, shook hands, and talked about business. Waiters moved between the tables with trays of drinks. To everyone else, it was just another successful event. Only Asher's team knew the real reason they were there.Lucas stood near one of the pillars, pretending to check his phone. His eyes stayed on the man in the black suit.He spoke quietly into his earpiece. "He's still there."Nathan answered from the other side of the hall. "I have him."Arthur was watching from the balcony. "So do I."The man seemed relaxed. He smiled when people spoke to him.He accepted a drink from a waiter and looked like an ordinary guest. But there was one strange thing, like Asher had observed, the stranger still hadn't looked at him.Lucas inquired. "Should we grab him now?"Nathan almost laughed. "For what? For... acting
103: "The Man Yet To Look At Me.”
Lucas stared at Asher. “Commander, where's this wrong gate?"Asher calmly picked up his coat and clicked his tongue. "I don't know."Lucas almost dropped his coffee. "You don't?"Nathan chuckled. "I wasn't expecting that answer."Lucas inquired once more of Asher. "Then where are we going?"Asher’s expression was calm. "I'm not looking for a place. I'm searching for a man."Arthur nodded slowly. "That makes more sense. The commander doesn't just chase places, but mostly finds people."Serena was observing, studying the hacked file, and she zoomed in again a couple of times She stopped typing. "Asher."He drifted his attention to her. "I figured something out."Everyone quickly turned.Serena pointed at the screen. "He didn't steal anything. There were no files, passwords, or company secrets."Lucas leaned closer. "Then why hack us?"Serena took a deep breath. "He was

"Asher."Serena hurried into the strategy room with her laptop. "It worked."Lucas immediately stood up. "They took the bait?"Serena nodded. "Not one but three different groups."Nathan looked up from the map. "Three?"Serena connected her laptop to the large screen. "I sent three versions of the fake Phoenix file; they all looked the same, but each one had one small change."Lucas smiled. "I knew you were cooking something."Asher folded his arms. "Show us."Three documents appeared on the screen.[Version A, B, and C]Nathan looked closely. "The meeting time is different, and the meeting place is different too."Serena nodded. "And each file was leaked through a different secret channel."Lucas slowly understood. "So if one version comes back, we'll know who leaked it."Asher smiled. "Exactly, we're not chasing the enemy; we're making them identify themselves."

Morning sunlight shone across the city; cars filled the streets, people hurried to work while children laughed on their way to school. No one knew that under their feet, a forgotten city had been awakened. No one, except the few who had walked its silent streets. The elevator doors opened, and Asher stepped out first while Lucas stretched his arms."I didn't think fresh air would feel this good."Nathan nodded softly. "You say that every time we survive something."Lucas grinned. "Because every time we survive something. I appreciate oxygen a little more."Even Arthur chuckled at the brief conversation. The tension of the underground city slowly dropped off, but not for Asher, who stood quietly looking toward the new day.Samuel walked beside him. "What do you see, Commander?"Asher answered without turning. "For too long, we've followed the trail they wanted us to see."Lucas stroked his beard. "What d
100: Father's Last Advice
The photograph of young Ethan and young Victor Lang in military uniform was still there.Lucas looked from the photograph to Victor. "You really knew Commander Ethan?"Victor's eyes remained fixed on the picture; his voice was calm. "We survived things together that most people never should."Arthur folded his arms. "They trusted each other."Noah Graves slowly shook his head. “I would say they trusted each other with something far greater than their lives."The aura of those words echoed in their heads. Victor slowly walked deeper into the Hall of Records; his footsteps echoed softly across the floor. He stopped before Ethan's empty frame. For several moments, he just stood there. Then he smiled. "It's been several years."Noah walked beside him. "You finally came back."Victor nodded. "I promised Ethan that I wouldn't return."Lucas’ brow furrowed. "Why didn't you?"Victor looked toward Asher
