Chapter 70

Lucas laid the princess on the floor as he looked at Andvaranaut and Kriemhild who were also on the floor, fainted from the battle and attacks that they were hit with as he looked at Aslaug as the girl looked at him as they nodded to each other. Then they looked at the prince and got ready with their weapons as they kept their eyes on the mage with the prince.

"You actually attacked the princess." Eric said to Lucas with a raised eyebrow.

"The situation was such that it had to be done. When we take care of you, this will end." Lucas said to the prince with narrowed eyes.

"Do you really think that you will be able to defeat me? We shall see." Eric said to the warrior with a smirk.

He then raised his right hand and shot a beam of energy at the two of them as they immediately grabbed the downed allies and jumped away as they realised that they would be hurt by the attack. The two of them placed them at the side before charging right at the prince as the prince started to do scatter attacks.

Lucas in response opened his portals and the energy that he had taken was thrown right back at the prince as the attacks hit each other and caused explosions as Aslaug moved quickly, as his attacks helped her to get there faster and without much difficulty. Even if some attacks passed through, she was able to dodge and slice through them.

"Tch, can you take care of that knight." Eric said as he looked at the mage.

"Of course, I will take care of the knight." The mage said with a smile as he moved forward.

He attacked Aslaug as she moved to the side and narrowed her eyes at the mage as she was angry that she dared to attack her. She growled as she charged at the mage with his sword primed to cut him down. But he created a magical barrier that blocked the strike as wind was created from the hit.

Lucas looked at the clash for a second, and then focused back on the prince as he opened more portals to attack the prince as he responded with his own attacks as he weaved between attacks as he responded with his own. The prince then sent a large attack which he captured with his portal and created another right over the prince as the attack was returned to him.

Eric looked up in surprise as he hadn't expected an attack like that before he used the power of the artifact to create a barrier to protect himself as he grit his teeth as he managed to stop it, but his focus went to it, leaving him open to being attacked by Lucas as he opened his portals and directly attacked the barrier as the prince wasn't capable of retaliating.

'I would've liked to open a portal right inside his barrier but it looks like the barrier is able to protect him from that.' Lucas thought to himself as he realised that the prince wasn't as powerful as he presented himself to be.

Even though the prince is able to take control of people and execute such large and powerful attacks, he doesn't have enough control over his new abilities, as it seems like he isn't able to focus fully as he can't attack and defend at the same time. Something that he is definitely going to take advantage of, as he attacked the prince with all the collected attacks.

And it would seem that it was too much for the guy as he grit his teeth and his barrier cracked and was destroyed by the onslaught of attacks, and a few attacks hit the prince as he cried out in pain and crashed through the throne as he rolled through the floor and slammed into the wall and fell on the ground and groaned.

'He survived? Tch, guess he is resistant to his own attacks.' Lucas thought to himself as he charged at the prince.

He was ready with his sword, to skewer the prince right through his head, the runes he inscribed into his own body further strengthening him as he reached the prince, the runes of the sword also further strengthening the blade as he brought it down on the prince.

But a dome of light appeared around the prince and blocked his attack as Lucas' eyes widened before the dome expanded and he was forced for retreat. He jumped back as he clicked his tongue as he tried to open a portal inside the dome to no avail.

'It is not working. Where did he get such power from?' Lucas thought to himself as he couldn't get a good read on him.

"N-No, it can't be." Aslaug's voice which was tinged with fear reached his ears.

This caused him to be surprised as he had never expected to hear fear in her voice as he looked towards her while keeping the prince in his field of vision. And his eyes widened when he saw Aslaug shaking in place as she took a step away from the mage, as her sword was shaking which caused him to look at her in disbelief.

'She is scared?' Lucas thought to himself in shock at the sight.

But he didn't have the time to voice his thoughts as her sword was ripped from her hands and it was grabbed by the mage as he looked at it, as the girl made a noise that was in between a cry and plea. And in front of her eyes, the mage raised his right hand, which started to glow in a light green light as he held the sword level in front of him.

Lucas' eyes widened when he saw that and before he could open a portal to help Aslaug, the mage brought his fist down on the blade and hit it.

*crack* *crack* *crack* *shatter*

The sword shattered right in front of their eyes under the strength of the mage as Lucas and Aslaug's eyes widened in extreme shock at the sight. As the sword was a weapon given to her by her godly parent, and so was no ordinary blade, and the mage had shattered it just like that.

"NOOOOOOOOO!" Aslaug screamed in agony when she saw that.

The sword that was the physical proof of her connection and acknowledgement from her godly parent, a gift from the divine, a weapon that signified her status as a demigoddess in the world, was destroyed right in front of her eyes.

She watched as its broken shards float in front of her eyes for a second before it fell on the floor, after which the rest of the blade fell as the handle clattered on the floor, the mage uncaring of the fact that he had destroyed a divine weapon as Aslaug lost the strength in her legs as she fell on her knees.

She looked at her sword, now in pieces, a divine weapon which should've never been broken, was now in such a state in front of her eyes. She grabbed the broken shards of her blade and looked at it with trembling hands, as her heart ached at the sight.

"My sword... It's... broken..." Aslaug said in despair as she looked at her blade.

'My gift from my parent. My connection to the Gods, it's gone. It's broken.' Aslaug thought to herself in despair at what had happened.

'You gotta be kidding me right now.' Lucas thought to himself as he looked at the sight in shock.
