Both fighters drew their blades and got into stances. Though it was easy to know that the stance used by Lucas was much more stable and better than the one used by Oscar by those who were well versed in the art of combat like Lucas's teacher Gustav and the princess Olivia.

'His stance is actually good.' Olivia thought to herself.

Lucas narrowed his eyes as he looked at the sword which was covered in an aura indicating that it was enchanted as well. Oskar then went with an overhead slash at Lucas which had it's speed increased by his armor. But for Lucas who had trained consistently with his master the attack wasn't that impressive.

Lucas merely sidestepped as the sword went harmless down his left side. Oskar was surprised while Lucas was looking at him with the same impassive face. Oskar was a bit ticked off at the lack of reaction from the heir to his attack as he went for a horizontal slash which Lucas blocked with his sword and used his hand guard to stop it as he had the same impassive face.

"Why are you looking like that? I'm attacking you so show some kind of reaction." Oskar said to him.

Lucas didn't reply and continued to stare at him impassively. This only angered Oskar as he started to attack him with much more force than before. Lucas in response dodged and evaded the attacks with small movements as it was easy for him to read his opponents attacks from all his training.

This continued on as Oskar was getting more frustrated and tired from constantly attacking while Lucas kept on dodging his attack with finesse. The nobles had gone silent from his display while the commoners were cheering him on. Olivia was getting more interested in Lucas as he was showing great skill in swordsmanship which was rarely seen in nobles these days.

After attacking for a few more times Oskar stopped as he was panting while Lucas barely even broke a sweat. Compared to the intense training he subjected himself to this wasn't much but it wasn't the case for Oskar who didn't train that much.

"Why are you not attacking? *pant* Are you only capable of dodging? Is that it?" Oskar asked him as he was catching his breath.

"No. I am very much capable of attacking you." Lucas said calmly.

"Then why aren't you attacking me!? This is a duel between us heirs of the noble clans. This is not the behaviour fit for someone with noble blood!" Oskar said in indignation.

"Why am I not attacking you? It's simple really. I think it's a waste of time attacking someone as weak and pathetic as you." Lucas said in a condescending tone as he looked at Oskar impassively.

The whole arena was silent when they heard what he had said. Many of the nobles stared with wide eyes when they heard that. The commoners were also the same as they were wide eyed as well. Even the knights were surprised at how he had addressed a noble from a clan which has the rank of duke.

The royal family was also quite surprised. The king widened his eyes when he heard him while the queen gasped a bit at the tone in which he talked at him. But none were more surprised than Olivia herself when she saw Lucas talk down on another child of a noble. Most of the noble boys would compliment one another but Lucas outright said that Oskar wasn't worth his effort and that he was pathetic which she hadn't heard any noble say before.

"You. First at the party and now at our duel as well! You dare call me pathetic! Me, the heir to the great clan of Rehbindr!" Oskar said in anger as he raised his blade and pointed it as Lucas with disdain.

The next moment the sword was covered in flames surprising the audience was surprised at this. The referee panicked when he saw that and the commoners were getting agitated for Lucas.

"L-Lord Oskar, please don't use that. This is a duel not a battle to the death." The referee tried to reason with the boy.

"Shut up! If he is so confident of his victory then he wouldn't mind if use this now would he!" Oskar shouted as he glared at Lucas while raising his sword.

Olivia glared at Oskar when he heard that as this was also one of the reasons she disliked the noble children. They act all high and mighty when things are going their way but once things are not they throw a tantrum and do whatever they want.

"I'm fine with it." Lucas confidently said for the people to hear as he got ready with his sword.

Oskar smirked when he heard that and lunged at Lucas with another overhead swing. But once again Lucas redirected it so the sword impacted the ground. But this time Lucas kneed Oskar in response which caused the heir to stumble back but he didn't get any damage due to his armor.

Oskar went in for the attack again but this time Lucas redirected his attack and then cut Oskar in the space between his armor drawing blood while the boy yelped in pain as he stumbled back. Lucas just looked at the small amount of blood on his sword and then swinged it to rid it of the blood. Oskar glared at Lucas with disdain while he had his neutral face.

Oskar attacked again but Lucas dodged it and used the pommel to attack his forehead which caused Oskar to get a bit disoriented. Lucas then used this chance to use his sword and then swiftly disarmed him as the sword clattered on the ground. Oskar realises what had just happened and looked at Lucas with fear.

"See what I mean, you too weak to even scratch me." Lucas said calmly.

The commoners cheered as they saw Lucas fight while the nobles were appalled that he managed to beat Oskar who was donning an enchanted armor. Olivia was impressed with Lucas as she saw that he didn't do any unnecessary movements and had the fight in his control at all times.

"Do you wish to yield?" The referee asked Oskar as Lucas stared at him with his impassive gaze.

He felt a small shock go through his right hand, causing his eyes to open immediately as h looked at where he is, and he recognised that ge is looking up at armor, and he could feel it behind his head as well, which meant that he was laid on it. He blinked slowly as he looked at the armor, and recognised the armor that is in front of his eyes. After all, he was the one who had sourced it for its wearer and the one who had fought with him in the war and the subsequent siege towards this kingdom. "A-Aslaug?" Lucas called out in a soft voice. Immediately the armor shifted as Aslaug's face appeared as she moved her head to be able to look at his face as he could see relief in her eyes and face which was surprising for him as he had never pegged the demigoddess to be someone who would have such an expression on her face. Much less towards him, the guy that had defeated her and made her work for and the one whom she had sworn to defeat and attain her freedom from. So he can be fo

Aslaug looked at the smoke in shock as she had just seen Lucas change at the God to protect her from being taken away. But she had never expected him to actually do this and so her eyes were locked on the smoke where the two of them were and she worried about what the outcome of the attack was. But then Lucas was launched out of the smoke as he fell on the floor and rolled on the floor towards her as she immediately opened her arms to catch him as she lurched a bit from the force with which he had been launched in her direction, and then his sword clattered beside her as she raised her head and her eyes widened when she saw the God appear from the smoke without any sort of damage to him. Aslaug gulped as she looked at Lucas in her arms and saw that his arms had been completely damaged as they were bloodied and his skin had tears on them, whether it was from exertion or from being attacked, she didn't know, but what she did know was that he isn't in a position to actually fight aga

  • Chapter 74

Aslaug felt like her ears had stopped functioning as she looked at Lucas in shock, as she had fully expected him to give her up to the God for his own safety. Instead he is giving up the chance for safe passage and taking the test that the God wants to do so that she won't be taken by him. She couldn't understand it, considering their relationship which was strictly transactional, he should have just let her go. But her thoughts had no importance here, as the one thing that has any relevance in this time and space, is the test that the divine being is about to start. She didn't know what she is supposed to think at the moment, but she could only look ahead at the two men who were about to fight. Lucas himself felt pretty nervous as he looked at the God. While the decision might have been a bit idiotic, he wouldn't feel good about leaving Aslaug to the God like that. While the relationship between the two of them isn't exactly ideal, that doesn't mean that he was about to just let

  • Chapter 73

Lucas and Aslaug looked at the God in shock as he made his demand, and the fear that she felt towards the being multiplied as she realised what he had just said, and feared for her life as her grip on Lucas tightened. "Why do you want her?" Lucas asked after a few seconds as he gathered his courage. "It is not that common to see a halfling such as herself. I am quite curious to see what she is capable of, and I do plan on doing some experiments on her." The God said causing the said girl to become pale in fear. "E-Experiment?" Aslaug said with fear as she let go of Lucas and crawled backwards. The God just smiled when he saw the clear fear in her voice while Lucas looked at her as he processed the demand. Logically speaking, it was better for him to just give her up to the God, as he is certain that he will never be able to defeat them, as he is a normal human in comparison to the being in front of him. He had trouble fighting Aslaug, and he held no Illusions that he would be

  • Chapter 72

Lucas looked at the mage cautiously, with his sword in one hand and the artifact in the other, he knew that the man is powerful, as he was able to not only beat Aslaug, but also break her sword, which was something that was given to her by her divine parent, and so a divine weapon, something that should not have been able to be destroyed, not by man, at least to his knowledge. He worked his jaw as he looked at the demigoddess and then at the mage, who didn't even do anything other than watching him as he slowly walked towards Aslaug carefully, but the mage didn't do anything, movements or even use of mana, but he held the artifact. While he didn't necessarily know how to use it, he could at least use it to perhaps block any sudden attacks or just chuck it as a distraction. "I must admit, you have impressed me with your feats. Enhancing your swords with runes, and also inscribing runes on your body to strengthen yourself, I must commend your resource fullness." The mage said to him

  • Chapter 71

Lucas was shocked as he saw the state of the sword, as the mage had destroyed a sword given by a God with one strike. He knew that it was better than all the swords that are created by humans, and so the fact that it was broken by the mage was a thing of great shock to him. He also beheld the sight of the demigoddess on her knees in front of the broken sword as her hands were hovering over it. But that was all the time that he got as he looked at the prince as Eric had recovered enough as he glared at him and shot a beam of energy which Lucas had to dodge, as he jumped to the right and dashed towards the prince as he attacked again and the heir dodged it once more. Lucas went for a slash, but it was stopped by the barrier that was created by the prince as his attempt was halted as Lucas grit his teeth. 'Tch, I have no idea about the stamina of the prince or the artifact. If it is able to outlast my reserves then I will lose.' Lucas thought to himself as he glared at the prince. "Yo
