Adrian plunged through the inferno, flames lashing at his skin, debris raining like a hailstorm of molten metal. Pain ripped through every inch of him, ribs screaming, arms trembling, lungs on fire. Yet, instinct kept him moving.

Below, the firestorm churned with relentless fury, flames twisting and reaching as if alive. Mara’s pulse device loomed above, glowing like a heart of molten terror, radiating energy that warped the air and bent the city to her will.

Emily’s voice echoed faintly through the smoke, carried by the heat and chaos: “Adrian! You have to survive!”

He gritted his teeth. Survive. That was all that mattered.

Adrian’s body slammed against a partially intact steel beam, splintering it with the impact. Pain shot through his ribs, threatening to fold him over completely, but he gripped it with bloody hands, pulling himself upright. Sparks rained from the collapsing rooftop above.
