2026-10-06 19:42:47Leo stopped walking when he saw his bags outside the house. Claire sat next to them with her arms crossed. First he had seen Mia with another man at the mall. Now Claire was trying to throw him out.
He walked straight up to her.
“Claire, what is the meaning of this? Why are my things outside?”
Claire stood up. Her face was full of anger.
“You are useless. That is why your things are outside. I do not want to see you near my daughter anymore. Pack up and leave.”
She could not believe Leo still had the nerve to come back. She had hoped the police would take him away after the mall. Instead here he was, asking questions.
Leo was about to answer when the front door opened. Mia and Daniel stepped out.
Leo’s eyes went cold. He could not hold back anymore.
“Mia, I want an explanation. What were you doing with him at the mall? Why is he here?”
Mia stayed quiet. She had not expected Leo to come home empty-handed. When he did not bring the clothes, she thought he had really gone there to steal. She looked at him from head to toe. He did not look hurt. Had the guards just let him go?
Daniel spoke before she could.
“She does not owe you any explanation,” he said. “It is clear you are useless. Mia wants someone who can take care of her. That someone is me. I suggest you pick up your bags and leave quietly.”
Claire nodded. “Mr. Daniel has promised to help Mia get the Sunridge contract. He also promised to give Lily a good life and treat her like his own child. Something you can never do. You should be glad a real man is willing to take on your responsibilities.”
Daniel added with a small smile, “Mother, do not be too hard on him. Poor people act this way. He did not even thank me for saving him at the mall. The guards caught him trying to steal, but I told them I knew him. I did not want Lily to see her father get hurt.”
Claire looked surprised and pleased. “You should have let them deal with him, Daniel. He is useless to his own daughter. Every school rejects her and he cannot fix it. He is not worthy to be called a father.”
“I just wanted to help,” Daniel said. “Even if he does not appreciate it.”
Leo’s eyebrows rose. So Daniel was taking credit for something he never did. Now Leo understood why Mia had gone to the mall with him. Daniel must have promised the contract and help for Lily. Claire was using this chance to force Leo out. Mia had stayed quiet because she did not want to offend Daniel. From the look in her eyes, she still did not want a divorce. She was just disappointed.
Leo had told her he was going to meet a friend who could help. Instead she saw him at the mall and thought the worst. But none of that mattered now. Things were going to change.
He looked at Daniel with cold eyes.
“I do not need your help. I already promised Mia I would get her thirty percent of that contract. I am still going to do it.”
Claire’s hands curled into fists. She could not believe Leo was still talking.
“Shut your mouth! You are a madman. You expect us to believe that empty talk? Whether you like it or not, you are leaving this house today.”
Leo did not even look at her. He kept his eyes on Claire and spoke clearly.
“I will get you the thirty percent contract tomorrow. If I fail, I will divorce Mia myself.”
