The next morning arrived like a thunderclap, While most of the city stirred awake, a storm was already brewing in the headquarters of Sebastian Holdings.

Lucas stood at the center of a private conference room on the 40th floor, sleeves rolled up, dark eyes locked on the projection behind him. The screen displayed names, records, and red flags, an entire internal audit, now laid bare for his personal judgment.

Helena sat beside him, flipping through a printed report. “Seventy-four employees connected to Darren’s little side hustle. Some skimming bonuses. Others funneling insider info to rival companies.”

Lucas didn’t blink. “And Rachel?”

“Used her department budget to buy herself a Cartier bracelet last Christmas.”

He gave a small, humorless smile. “Fire them all.”

“All seventy-four?”

“No exceptions,” he said. “And blacklist them across every subsidiary. Anyone who touched that man or her filth doesn’t deserve a second chance.”

Helena nodded. “Consider it done.”

Lucas exhaled. This wasn’t about anger. It wasn’t even about revenge. It was about cleansing his empire of every parasite that had festered while he played the pauper, And Rachel?

She wasn’t even the first target. Just the warm-up, Rachel sat on the edge of her bed, clutching a coffee cup that had long gone cold. The silence of her apartment screamed louder than any insult Lucas had ever thrown.

Her phone buzzed. Again. “Final Notice: Immediate Termination – Security Arriving at 10:00 AM.”

Tears pricked her eyes, Then another message popped up.

“Outstanding Debt – Credit Card Over Limit”

“Luxury Leasing Co. – Vehicle Repo Scheduled”

“Eviction Warning – Rent 3 Months Behind”

One after another, her entire life began unraveling before her eyes, It wasn’t just Lucas cutting her off, it was everything.

The apartment lease, the car in her name, the “investments” Darren told her to make… all tied to invisible hands that were now yanking everything back. Her phone buzzed one last time.

Unknown Number: “By the time I’m done, you’ll wish you never met me. – L”

She flung the phone across the room, Security moved swiftly and silently through the office, Darren, the man she thought she could build a new life with,  was escorted out first. He made a scene, throwing a chair and shouting about “power plays” and “vendettas,” but no one helped him.

By the time Rachel arrived to plead for answers, it was too late, Her ID badge didn’t work, Her computer access was blocked, Her colleagues avoided her eyes like she was diseased.

She stood in the lobby, helpless, as Lucas walked past in silence, Helena at his side. “Lucas!” she shouted, voice cracking. “Please just talk to me!”

He didn’t break stride, Helena glanced back just once, lips curling into a satisfied smirk, The elevator doors closed behind them with a soft chime, Rachel collapsed onto the marble floor, sobbing.

Lucas sat alone in The Glass Vault, a private bar built into the 81st floor of his tower. Only three people in the city had access. Tonight, he wanted silence. But silence never came.

Helena entered quietly, holding a sealed envelope, He didn’t look at her. “Tell me it’s handled.”

Helena nodded. “Rachel’s out. Darren’s in custody for embezzlement. His assets were frozen by noon.”

Lucas took a sip of whiskey, then spoke without looking up. “And the board?”

“Ten out of twelve are loyal. The other two are about to be bought out.”

He finally looked at her. “And the boy?”

Helena’s eyes softened. “Healthy. Growing. We’ll be ready to announce once things settle.”

Lucas smiled faintly. “My son will never live in the shadows like I did.”

Helena hesitated. “There’s… something else.”

Lucas set his glass down, She handed him the envelope. “It came this morning. No return address. But the seal, it’s from the Consortium.”

Lucas’s fingers froze over the wax crest. Black and silver. Ancient. Powerful, A symbol that hadn’t crossed his path in years. “The Consortium?” he echoed.

“They know you’ve re-emerged. And they’re watching.”

Lucas’s jaw clenched, He hadn’t planned on this war getting bigger, But now, It was personal. Rachel stumbled through the alleyway behind her building, barefoot and crying, gripping a cheap handbag and a crumpled eviction notice.

Her makeup was smeared. Her knees bled. She had nowhere to go, A sleek black car pulled up beside her, window rolling down slowly, A man in a gray suit and gloves smiled coldly. “Ms. Rachel Sebastian?”

She backed away. “Who… who are you?”

He extended a card. Jet black. No writing, only a silver crescent symbol. “Your ex-husband has enemies. We believe you might be… useful.”

She stared at the card, heart pounding. “What do you want from me?”

The man’s eyes gleamed. “Revenge.”
