Opening the door,Caroline was expecting to see Scott since they both planned earlier to hang out. But instead, she saw someone she has been trying to ignore lately, someone that has been getting on her nerves.
"Good morning,Caroline, did you sleep well?" Pedro greeted with a smile. "You look like you are about to head out, where are you going?" Pedro asked, noticing Caroline's clothes and make up."Non of your business." Caroline replied, annoyed by the question."You want me to drop you off?" Pedro ordered, pointing towards his shiny lamborghini."No thanks." Caroline turned him down."Anyways,is your dad home? I have something to discuss the whole family." Pedro voiced."Why? Did anything happen?" Caroline asked with a worried expression etched in her face."It's concerning Scott Carden." Pedro replied. "Can i come in?" Unable to wait for Caroline's reply,Pedro walked into the mansion.Pedro walked into the living room and found the whole family sitting quietly and doing their own thing. When Aunt Zaya spotted him,she shifted her gaze to Louis and Mrs Sjiela, giving them a mischievious smirk. Aunt Zaya could already guess why Pedro was here in their house.Pedro did inform Aunt Zaya that he might have a way to prevent the wedding and kick Scott out of Caroline's life forever. But he refused to tell her what the plan is and would only inform her when the plan becomes a success.Seeing Pedro right here in their house Aunt Zaya knew Pedro has succeeded in what he wanted to do."Greetings,Mr Fernando." Pedro greeted."Good morning,Pedro. What brought you here so early? Have a seat." Mr Fernando inquired, ushering Pedro to sit on the comfortable sofa.Pedro sat down on the golden coloured sofa, grabbed a glass of scortch and gulped it."You said you have news concerning Scott?" Caroline asked hastily."Scott? What happened to him?" Mr Fernando questioned with a confused look."It appears Scott isn't who he claims." Pedro uttered. "Behind that innocent face, lies a chronic criminal.""Hey,Watch how you talk to him!" Caroline shouted in anger after hearing Pedro's words."Relax,Caroline." Mr Fernando tried to calm his daughter down. "What made you jump to that conclusion,Pedro? You know it's wrong to accuse someone wrongly.""This isn't a false accusation, sir. There was a witness and also proof to what i say." Pedro sounded with a confident look as he sips his scortch."Tell me,what happened?" Mr Fernando inquired."You remember that item that was suppose to be shipped to Itlay later today?" Pedro asked, taking a sip and stealing a glance at Aunt Zaya."Yes,The item that was suppose to be sold to Bonucci for 3 Billion Dollars?" Mr Fernando asked."Yes,that item. When i got to the office this morning,i found out it was missing." Pedro explained and Mr Fernando's eyes widened in surprise. "So i called in all the staffs and began to question them. After so many investigations,i later found out the person who stole it was Scott Carden.""What?!" Mr Fernando and Caroline exclaimed together after hearing Pedro's words, while the rest of the menbers couldn't help but smile mischieviously."That's a lie. Scott is not a thief. You are making it all up." Caroline spoke in disbelief."Well, tye item was found inside his locker and the survelliance camera recorded him going into my office when there was no one else there." Pedro voiced out."I knew it. I know this boy was a poser!" Louis sounded from where he sat. "We shouldn't have trusted him. He is a poor hungry bastard who would go extra mile just to feed himself!""That's how those riff raff's are. They try to sneak thier way into a wealthy family just to steal from them." Mrs Sheila blurted. "He should be sentenced to jail for this!"Caroline stood there trying to digest the whole thing. She was still thinking whether Scott would be able to do such a thing knowing fully well they were about to get married."I can't believe what i am hearing. Caroline, how can you bring in a criminal into this house to wed?!" Mr Fernando shouted in anger."Let's not jump into conclusions." Caroline finally spoke up. "Scott might have a logical reason for doing this. Let's just invite him over and ask him.""There is no logical reason to this. The poor rag is a thief!" Aunt Zaya voiced out."Yes,Only God knows what would have happened if he had married into this family without getting caught!" Mrs Shiela backed up Louis."Let's just hear him out!" Caroline sounded."What's the use? He would only deny everything claiming he's innocent just to escape the situation." Louis replied."Caroline,Call Scott and tell him to come over right now." Mr Fernando ordered, causing everyone to keep quiet. Mr Fernando wasn't the type of person who only listens to one side of the story and judge based on what he heard. He liked to listen from both ends then decide the way forward.Caroline took out her phone and dialed Scott's number. "Hello,my dad asked you to come over. It's important."***Scott already knew why he was being called by Mr Fernando. He guessed that Pedro must have gone to their house to inform them about the incident that happened earlier.Scott knew once he tells Mr Fernando everything, the marriage would be over. There was nothing Scott could do since every single evidence was pointing towards him.It was obvious that Pedro planted the bag inside his locker just to frame him and make him look like a bad person infront of the family. But there was nothing he could use to prove himself. If only he had enough time to dig out a concrete evidence that would make them believe him. Scott finally arrived in the mansion and walked into the living room and saw the whole family waiting for him with hateful glares.

Scott leaned forward in his seat, his eyes unwavering as they locked onto Aunt Kelly’s. “I came here seeking your advice, Aunt Kelly. I know I’ve already made my decision—I just need to hear it from you. Should I proceed this way? Or would you rather I do something else?” His voice was low but resolute, laced with the weight of a decision that could change everything.Aunt Kelly, who had been standing a few paces away in silence, let out a long, tired sigh. Her eyes shimmered faintly with concern as she walked slowly toward him. She rested a soft hand on his shoulder, her touch warm, maternal.“You do whatever you have to,” she said gently. “I believe in you.”Their eyes met. Scott nodded—once, firmly—before rising to his feet. He slid his hands into the pockets of his long coat and turned toward the door.“I’ll be leaving now,” he said. “Look after Edward until the guards arrive. I’m going to meet Matteo of House Montanari. I’ll inform him about the case and convince him to give me h

"So what exactly happened?" Scott demanded, his voice sharp and filled with urgency, his curiosity piqued by the sudden revelations."Months ago, Mr. Nicola Lombardi—the owner of the biggest petroleum company in this city—tried to take over your Western lands," Aunt Kelly began, her tone grave. "He claimed the land doesn't legally belong to you. He said it belongs to the government, and since he had been in contact with government officials, he intended to assume full control over it.""Sandro was desperately trying to reach you, but his calls weren’t going through. We were on the brink of losing the case—Mr. Nicola was winning at every turn. He almost took complete control of the land... but then Kael stepped forward and offered to help. He reached out to some of the top businessmen in the city, seeking allies to counter Nicola’s influence. Eventually, one of them agreed to assist us... it was Mr. Marco. He had connections within the government and claimed he could easily sway the ca

Scott drove his car down the bustling city street. The late afternoon sun filtered through tall glass buildings, casting golden streaks across the windshield. Inside the car, silence reigned. His right hand clutched the steering wheel with quiet intensity, his expression carved from stone, gaze fixed unwaveringly on the road ahead. His mind raced with thoughts of what had happened earlier.Mohammed—brazen and arrogant—had strolled into his territory like he owned it.Scott's jaw tightened. With his left hand, he reached down to his belt and retrieved the gleaming silver revolver holstered at his side. He lowered his gaze and stared at the weapon for a few moments, his reflection glinting back at him from the polished steel. If he’d had this revolver earlier, Mohammed wouldn’t have left the mansion alive. That was a mistake he wouldn’t repeat. He returned the gun to its holster, adjusted his coat, and pressed on.After what felt like an eternity of driving, Scott finally pulled over in
Double the security
The room fell into a tense silence after Mohammed finished speaking. Scott remained seated, his dark eyes locked onto his adversary with a cold, unreadable expression. His arms were folded tightly across his chest, and he leaned back slightly in his chair, unmoved. After a long, loaded pause, Mohammed finally broke the silence.“You should always be prepared, Scott. I must admit, I’m not impressed with your security. The way I walked in here—it was easy… too easy.”Scott’s eyes narrowed. “And what makes you think leaving will be just as easy as coming in?” he replied icily. “You walked into the den of your enemy for what? To introduce yourself and issue a threat? You came without an army, just a pistol. What made you believe I’d let you walk out of here alive?”Mohammed smirked. Without a word, he reached for the pistol tucked into his belt and slowly drew it. He raised it, aiming directly at Scott’s head, his finger resting firmly on the trigger.“Because if you try anything foolish,
An unknown visitor
A few moments after Miranda exited the hall, the wooden door flung open again, and in came a man. The man was tall, clad in a long white native attire. His face was covered with bushy black beards, and a small white traditional cap sat on top of his head. Scott raised his head slowly, and when he spotted the man, he swiftly rose to his feet and reached for the revolver at his belt… but unfortunately, there was nothing there. “Easy now, boy. You don’t want blood all over your beautiful meeting hall, do you?” the man said softly, a smirk evident on his face. He advanced forward slowly, his hands still tucked casually in his pockets. “Who are you?” Scott demanded. “You know, in a vendetta, you should always keep your weapon by your side. But look at you—completely unarmed. I could easily kill you right now,” the man spoke audibly, the smirk still lingering on his face. “I don’t need a weapon to kill a guy like you,” Scott bellowed. “And you don’t have to answer my question… I alrea
Doorsteps
The men and women kept speaking, informing Scott about the business and operations that had taken place while he was away, as well as how Kael had handled things on his own. Scott listened attentively. Deep down, he doubted most of their words. He knew they were only trying to make him believe that Kael was a good guy—but he said nothing. All he did was listen. They spoke for several minutes until they were finally done, and the hall went dead silent.Scott just sat there in silence, digesting everything, his hands resting on the golden table, his eyes glancing at the people sitting around him. After a few moments of silence, he finally spoke up, “Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. You managed to cooperate and work diligently while I was away. I appreciate that.”They all nodded collectively.“But boss, don’t you think Kael should be part of this meeting?” a man among the group questioned. The man was known as Gabriel Veratti.“And why should he be part of the meeting?”
