The doctors were at a loss for words on what to do. Neither of them knew what to do next.

If only they had listened to Damian earlier.

Mrs Bianca couldn’t do anything but feel weak when she saw her son in such a state. Her vision became blurred as tears welled up in her eyes.

She knew it was time to give Damian the chance, even if she had doubts, but her son’s life was way more important at the moment.

“Please,” she said, her voice trembling. “Please, you have to help him. It’s getting worse.” She clutched her hands together below her jaw.

Mr. Alex joined his wife, and he went on his knees. “I am sorry, Mr. Alex. But I really need your help. Save my son, I am willing to pay whatever amount you want.”

The doctors stared at Mr. Alex and his wife. They couldn’t do anything anymore.

The boy’s life was at stake.

What would happen to Doctor Jonathan if Mr Alex should lose his son?

Damian could feel the desperation in their voice, he felt pity for the boy, not his mother.

“Money is not the most important thing at the moment, get the ingredients ready. I need a bowl, and your son should be placed in a bathtub, “ he stated.

“What are you waiting for, Do as he said.” Mr. Alex said, sounding worried.

Within a few minutes, Freddie was placed in a bathtub, and the other requirements were brought. Damian exhaled deeply.

“Everyone should leave the room; only the boy’s parents and the butler are allowed to stay.”

The doctors tried to rush out, but Mr Alex stopped Doctor Jonathan, “Keep an eye on him; I don’t want him to leave without paying for what he did.”

Doctor Jonathan’s heart began to race through several thoughts. He knew with just a phone call from Mr. Alex he would definitely lose his certificate. His clothes had become wet from sweat.

The other young Doctor could be seen making silent prayers, and their face was pale. They could perceive danger ahead of them all because of one Man and his ego.

The door was shut, and Damian began the ancient healing. His hand moved deliberately, placing the needle in the exact position. He could feel the poison when he placed his hand on Freddie’s chest. His heart was weak, its rhythm unstable, it wasn’t just the organs that were falling. The boy’s entire body was beginning to give up.

He turned to face the others, “I hope whatever happens in this room will remain in this room. It shouldn’t be heard out.” He asked.

“Yes, it’s a promise.” Mrs Bianca said while Mr Alex and Butler nodded.

Blood began coming out from the spot where he had placed the needle; Mrs Bianca was frightened as she buried her head in his chest.

Damian began whispering an incantation under his breath, an ancient chant his master had taught him. His finger hovered above the boy’s chest. He used his eyes, a dark writhing mass coiled around the boy’s heart like a shadowy serpent. The technique Damian used focused on purging the body of toxins and restoring balance.

Then, he began to pull back. As though drawing the poison out of the body. The energy flowed from Damian’s hand, not in the way electricity flows through their wires, but like a wave; it was powerful.

His parents watched in silence, tears dripping down Mrs. Bianca’s eyes. She held her breath and prayed that Damian would perform the miracle her son needed desperately.

“Pour a little quantity of the mixture into his mouth.” He instructed the butler who obliged.

Damian nodded to signal him to stop. Then, he concentrated on his work. When he felt it was time. He gently pressed down with enough force to steady the rhythm he called his ancient energy that could help reinforce the heart.

After a few minutes, there was nothing but a quiet hum of energy flowing through the room. Black blood began to pull out from the spot where he placed the needle, leaving Mr. Alex in shock; the water changed immediately.

Slowly, the boy’s breathing began to stabilise; Damian nodded as he felt the poison leaving the body. Mr. Alex and his wife watch their son’s heart become stable.

His eyes blinked slowly,

“Help him out, he needs to rest,” Damien instructed the butler.

Mrs Bianca was overwhelmed with relief and gratitude, “Thank you. I don’t know how you did it, but I am grateful.” She said.

Who would have thought she would ever thank Damian after what happened earlier?

Damian gave her a light smile and a soft nod. He stood still with his body exhausted from intense concentration but felt a sense of peace washing over him.

“He will be fine. Just make sure he gets enough rest and stays hydrated. The poison is gone but his body will need enough time to recover.”

Mr Alex nodded, then turned to Damian. “Mr. Damian, you saved my son. I don’t know how to thank you, but I have something to give to you.”

Mr. Alex wrote a Cheque, but Damian rejected it. Leaving Mr. Alex, his wife and the butler in shock. Who would dare to reject a cheque of thirty million dollars?

But Damian did.

“You have already thanked me by trusting me. And given me the chance to do what I do best. That’s all I need.” Damian said.

Mr. Alex and his wife exchanged glances, then looked back at Damian, before he said, “Since you don’t want it. You can name anything you want, and I will make sure I get it for you.”

“Yes, Mr. Damian. Please, just see it as a way of us saying thank you for saving the life of our only son.”

There were moments of silence as they waited to hear what Damian would request.

What would you have requested if you were in Damian’s shoes?
