"Hmm, this armor is really good..."

murmured Marcus, as he examined the dark brown armor he was wearing. He had just stepped out of the logistics department.

He had received this new armor.

A new mark, different from the Lorana insignia, could be noticed on the right side of his chest.

Suddenly, he remembered the conversation he had with the logistics officer and couldn’t help but sigh.

"I never joined the medical team before... that’s why I didn’t know they get so many benefits..."

"But the benefits are fair considering the high responsibility a doctor bears..."

Marcus shrugged and pushed those thoughts aside. He remembered that he joined the medical team to avoid danger temporarily and to grow quietly.

"If only I had kept the amount of Eternal Energy I had before..." he sighed with frustration and helplessness.

"Hmm! But I have a feeling the solution lies in..." with a single thought, he summoned the panel.

A translucent curtain of light appeared in front of his eyes.

"Hmm, the panel has become bigger..." he raised his eyebrows in surprise and thought happily, then began inspecting it until his eyes landed on his target.

– Energy Eater SS: Level 1 (100)

He began walking toward the medical tent where Tina was, thinking calmly and deeply.

"This technique... appeared in my mind the moment the panel awakened...."

"Right now, all I know and can do with this technique is to extract energy from my body and convert it into an energy core... which I can then turn into unlock points or use as a kind of energy battery..."

"But... I know that even with just these two uses, it's enough to classify it as a forbidden technique, and any nation could treat it like a treasure..."

He imagined eternal fighters clashing against each other, with the same amount of energy and the same skills, but when their energy ran out, one of them pulls out an energy core and restores his eternal energy. The rest is easy to imagine.

This technique can overturn the balance of power in the world. Revealing it to the public would be like throwing a nuclear bomb.

Marcus shook his head and chased away those scattered thoughts.

"It’s impossible to share this technique with anyone... even if I wanted to, I don’t even know if it can be used without a panel like mine after all..."

"The panel is the origin of the technique..."

"But I have a hunch... it’s not just my energy. I might be able to absorb and take others’ energy too..."

Just thinking about it made Marcus so happy he almost flew. He even quickened his steps toward the medical tent. He had to submit a report to Tina, who had become his superior.

Also, in the tent were the best test subjects to try whether the Energy Eater technique could really absorb the energy of others or not.

Inside the Medical Tent

While Tina stood behind the small table in the medical tent, checking the wounded soldiers, she saw from the corner of her eye the tent flap opening as the young man she previously described as a spy entered.

Marcus stepped into the tent and walked calmly toward Tina.

He stopped in front of her, then pulled out a document from his pocket. He smiled and said

"I’ll be under your care from now on... Commander."

He gently handed her a sealed document.

"This is an official confirmation from Dr. Hays... He appointed me as your deputy in this unit..."

"Hmm!"

She took the document from him and began verifying it. After a short while, she lifted her eyes from the paper and looked at him with a bit of surprise and embarrassment.

"I didn’t expect Dr. Hays to make him my deputy directly. It seems he’s impressed by this man’s talent..."

"What an embarrassment... I feel ashamed when I think about my previous behavior..."

She sighed and pushed those thoughts aside. She stared at Marcus, then extended her hand to shake his.

"Ahem! Congratulations! I hope we get along well..."

Marcus shook her hand without hesitation.

"I’ll be under your care from now on, Commander..."

Tina smiled and said while handing the document back to him

"Well, I’ve seen what you can do, and you’re highly qualified... so you can act as you see fit..."

Marcus nodded.

"Thank you, I’ll go check on the wounded now..."

He turned and walked away, scanning his surroundings with his eyes, searching for a suitable test subject to try his ability on.

As she looked at Marcus’s back, Tina stayed silent for a moment, then said in a low but clear voice

"I’m sorry for my previous behavior..."

Marcus paused from inspecting the soldiers, turned, and slightly shook his head.

"Don’t worry about it. Your reaction was normal. No need to apologize..."

He paused for a moment and added,

"I heard from Dr. Hays about your father... My condolences."

Before she could respond, the flap of the tent was gently pushed aside, and a man in his twenties entered, with only one arm. Marcus recognized him immediately, it was the soldier he had saved earlier.

His condition seemed slightly better than before, but the loss of his arm was something he still hadn’t come to terms with. If he couldn’t master seals with one hand, he would lose the ability to perform techniques, making his combat ability weak.

In a world ruled by strength, weakness was a sin.

He stopped in front of Tina and asked:

"Miss Tina, has the doctor who saved me yesterday returned? I just wanted... to thank him."

Tina looked at Marcus, then silently pointed toward him.

The soldier followed her gesture with his eyes and stared at Marcus for a moment.

"You were... him?"

He seemed surprised. He didn’t expect the one who saved him to be so young, but he quickly dismissed his thoughts and surprise and bowed slightly with respect.

"Thank you. You saved my life. I owe you."

Marcus waved his hand and replied calmly

"No need... I was just doing my job..."

The soldier nodded again, then bowed and quietly left the tent. There was no point in saying more.

Marcus stared at the departing soldier’s back and sighed, then shrugged and resumed examining the patients, searching for a suitable test subject.

"If the old man were still alive... he would’ve admired this man..."

Tina muttered with sadness, held back her tears, then gave Marcus one last look and exited the tent to get some fresh air and clear her mind.

Marcus’s lips curled into a slight smile when he noticed Tina leaving the tent.

"Now..."

He looked at the unconscious soldier lying on the bed, then placed his right hand on the soldier’s chest.

"The moment of truth..."

The coastal sea, near Haven IslandA mild breeze blew across the clear sea, carrying the scent of salt and the sound of waves crashing against the rocks. In a small corner of the fishermen’s dock, the place had become a silent massacre.Marcus, the tall young man with neatly cropped hair, stood there stiffly. His black eyes were blank, staring at the bodies of strange sea creatures strewn across the yard.He gripped his sword’s hilt and drove it deep into the skull of a sea creature with a twisted nose, then pulled the blade out, dark blue blood coating it. He wiped the blade on the dead creature’s clothes and kicked it aside.Thud!"I don’t know if I’ve finished them all off..." he muttered with a frown, slowly scanning the area. "If some managed to escape and reveal where we are... I’ll find myself running again from island to island."When he stepped into a side room of the building, his eyes caught on shelves and walls covered with maps and nautical charts."Hmm, interesting room.

His black eyes stared coldly at the body of a sea creature stretched out on the ground, his face showing only faint disgust. That was not the only corpse. The entire yard was drenched in blood and scattered remains.Marcus pulled his sword out of the strange-nosed sea creature’s skull, wiped the blade on his already blood-stained clothes, then kicked the body aside.Thud!"I don’t know if all those bastards were here. If some managed to escape... we could be in trouble.""They might expose our location again, and I’m really tired of running from one island to another." The coastal sea, near Haven IslandA gentle breeze swept in from the glittering ocean, carrying with it the sound of waves dancing and softly striking the sides of the sailboat. At the edge of the boat, a teenage boy stood staring at the island ahead with obvious excitement."Finally! I’m back home," he said with eagerness and relief before turning around to look at the pale-faced woman with shining hair."Mother... we’re finally here."Susanneth nodded with a smile, then leaned on her sword and stood up."Hmm, thank goodness we made it..." she murmured wearily."I’m completely exhausted... two days of non-stop sailing have made my condition worse." She clung to Marcus’s hand, whose face lost all signs of joy, replaced by sorrow and helplessness.Just six days ago, he lost his father, and only yesterday did his mother confess she had a severe, terminal illness that might take her life in no more than three years."Misfortunes never come alone," Marcus muttered bitterly. He then wrappe

  • chapter 36 : invincible!

Marcus’s eyes widened in shock."Hah... completely immune to injury! That means... literally invincible!"He couldn’t help but stare again at the three strange drugs inside the chest."I wonder... could one of these be that terrifying elemental type?" he muttered under his breath. For a moment, he imagined that if he found an elemental drug among them, he would swallow it without hesitation. But then he shook his head with a wry smile."Look at me... what an idiot. Why would I risk taking one and give myself the ocean’s curse when I can simply have the bracelet copy the genetic imprint of these powers?"He laughed at himself for the stupidity of that thought, taking a Dream-Bringer drug that would give him a fatal weakness, when his bracelet could just copy these abilities, as it had with Eren. It was even now storing another DNA temporarily, and could also copy his mother’s power whenever he wanted. Most importantly, there was that enormous discovery that had shocked him moments ago

  • chapter 35 : Dream-Bringer drug

Marcus nodded without hesitation and began pushing the large boat forward with his transformed body, while his mother, Susanneth, lay resting on the edge. As he propelled the vessel, he started recounting everything that had happened over the past three days.Strangely, he didn’t mention the bracelet at all. He only said he had suddenly discovered an ability to transform into a Sea King and other shapes, even revealing that he could copy other people’s powers, but he kept the secret of the bracelet buried deep in his heart.Susanneth listened in silence, her eyes distant as if trying to find a logical explanation for all of it... but soon she gave up. What was the point of searching for a reason now? What mattered was how they could use these abilities. She placed her hand on his tough scales and spoke with firm resolve:“Once we gather your siblings and settle somewhere new... I’ll begin training you.”Then her tone became more warning as she added:“Keep in mind that from now on, yo
