The auction house was already crowded when the doors fully opened. Guests filled the entrance in steady waves. Wealthy families, influential syndicates, and powerful figures from every part of the city were present. Conversations overlapped in low, confident tones as glasses clinked and eyes assessed value beyond the items on display. This was not just an auction; it was a gathering of status.

Charlotte stood out effortlessly, dressed with polished elegance. Veronica looked just as stunning beside her, poised and confident. Right beside Charlotte was Lucas and Bianca, well-groomed and self-assured.

Together, they blended seamlessly into the room like people who knew they belonged exactly where they were.

Chris drove in with his Mercedes Benz that was gifted to him by his grandfather, the godfather.

The crowd gasped.

Peter Kent, one of the heirs to a syndicate couldn’t help but ask, “Whose car is that?”

Chris stepped out elegantly in his white suit.

“Don’t know man. I’ve never seen him in our circle before.” Jason, James’s friend said.

“Chris!?” Charlotte called out in shock.

“What the hell are you doing here?” she asked him.

“You begged us for money and you got it. Now just leave Charlotte alone already.” Veronica said sharply.

Then she asked, “Are you deaf, Chris? She asked you a question. What are you doing here?”

Chris looked at them, amused. “You know, the last time I checked, this wasn’t Wood territory. I get just as much right to be here as you do.” Chris said with one of his hands in his pocket.

Lucas Wood stepped forward and held his collar, “Shut up! No one talks to Aunt Vee like that.”

Chris yanked his hand off.

Lucas flinched. For a minute, he was genuinely scared of Chris.

“Oh really? Lucas Wood. First son of the Wood clan. You should have been the family heir. Yet here you are, just another one of your sister’s little henchmen.” Chris said as he walked off proudly.

“Come back here, you bastard! How dare you talk to me like that?” Lucas was furious.

Chris didn’t listen to any of their tantrums again. He walked straight in majestically to the VIP entrance.

Charlotte, Veronica, Bianca and Lucas scoffed.

Even the other people that were present shook their heads as they looked at him.

“Who does this man think he is?” one of them said in disbelief.

Lucas stepped forward, “Chris, let me cue you in. This is a Mikaelson syndicate auction house and a small fry like you doesn’t belong anywhere near this place.”

“Yeah, where is your invite?” Bianca asked mockingly.

“He doesn’t even have one and even if he did, it’s not like it’s a VIP pass. He’d have to take the regular line like everybody else.” Veronica said, pointing at Chris.

“What a fucking embarrassment.” Charlotte whispered.

Chris chuckled. He couldn’t wait to see the shock on their faces once he passed through the entrance meant for VIP only.

As he walked close to the entrance, the onlookers smirked.

“Uh! Mikaelson’s going to kick this man out of the auction.” One of them said,

“I know. He is done for.” Another responded as he laughed.

When Chris got to the entrance, security stopped him but the moment he showed them his ring, they respectfully bowed their heads and let him in.

“Welcome in, sir. Honored to have you.”

Everyone was stunned.

How could this low-life be the VIP?

Lucas couldn’t believe his eyes, “Hold it, Chris. You are a fucking liar and I’m not going to allow you to cheat your way into a Mikaelson syndicate auction.”

Then he faced the security men, “I know this guy. Alright? He is a sorry-ass orphan who married his way into the family but we kicked him out already. He’s a nobody now.”

Charlotte and Veronica raised their heads in pride as Lucas spoke.

“Really?” the security man asked.

“Yes, really.” Lucas said easily.

“He doesn’t even have an invite let alone a VIP pass.” Lucas laughed.

“Are you calling me a fraud?” Chris asked.

“Bingo!” Lucas responded.

Everyone laughed.

Chris smiled lightly, “Sounds like he’s calling you guys out for letting me in. Doesn’t that make you feel a bit… insulted?” Chris said, trying to ignite something in the security men.

“What? No, that’s…not what I meant. All I’m saying is he’s not a real VIP guest.” Lucas quickly tried to explain himself.”

“My brother’s right. Chris Greene is a liar through and through. I know all about this scumbag, and nothing about him says VIP.” Bianca said, trying to support her brother.

“You guys are free to check me out if you like.” Chris said as he raised his hands and faced the security men.

“No need, Mr. Greene. We know who you are.” The security man respectfully responded.

“What?” Bianca and Lucas said in shock.

“No, no. I’m sorry. If you just give him a background check, you’ll see that this guy is full of shit.” Bianca said aggressively.

“Ma’am! If you continue to harass our VIP guests, we’ll have to take you around back and beat some sense into you.” The security man warned.

“What the hell happened? How did a screw up like Chris become Mikaelson syndicate VIP overnight?” Charlotte mustered in disbelief.

“Mr. Greene, how do you suggest we deal with these two?”

Chris smirked slightly.

All the times Lucas humiliated him and Bianca called him good for nothing… This was the best time for his revenge.

He smiled widely as he thought of several ways to make them suffer.

Lucas Wood's shoulder shrunk in embarrassment.

“Go ahead, teach them some manners.” Chris said easily.

The security dragged both of them out mercilessly.

The onlookers watched in disbelief.

Maybe Chris isn’t someone to be messed with after-all.

The black, armored SUV pulled to a stop near the main entrance of the Holloway Ridge mining facility. Chris stepped out into the heavy afternoon heat, his eyes scanning the perimeter. The area was quiet, almost too quiet, surrounded by chain-link fences and dense trees. Behind him, three heavily armed men from his personal security detail moved out in a tight formation, their hands resting near their weapons.Chris raised his left wrist, tapping the interface on his watch. "BODAS, do a quick sweep of the place. I want to know exactly what we are walking into before we move a step further.""Initiating security sweep, Mr. Greene," the AI’s calm, synthesized voice responded through his earpiece. "Accessing local satellite camera feeds now."On the small, high-resolution screen of his watch, a live aerial view of the entire Holloway Ridge facility flickered into focus. The digital camera feed tracked the main office, the heavy machinery parked near the primary dig site, and the transport

Adrian stood up too, his hand gripping the edge of the table for balance. "Fine. If you’re going, I’m getting my gear. Give me ten minutes to get out of this sling and grab a vest.""No," Chris said. The word was short, sharp, and dropped like a heavy stone between them.Adrian frowned, stepping out from behind his lounger. He didn't stop moving toward the glass doors of the villa. "Don't 'no' me, Chris. I'm your Chief of Operations. If you're walking into an unmapped Holloway dead zone, I'm walking in with you. I can shoot one-handed if I have to."Chris stepped directly into Adrian’s path, blocking the walkway. His posture was rigid, but his eyes were wide and intense. "You aren't going, Adrian. Look at yourself. You can barely hold your glass without your shoulder locking up.""It's a scratch," Adrian snapped, his voice rising in frustration. "I've handled worse. I'm not sitting poolside sipping lime juice while you risk your neck because of a gut feeling about some old mainframe f

The afternoon sun beat down on the private deck, baking the concrete around the infinity pool. Chris Greene lay back on a canvas lounger, his sunglasses pushed up into his hair. He held a cold glass of mojito, the condensation dripping down his fingers and onto his linen shorts. A few feet away, Adrian sat on a matching chair, his posture still slightly stiff from his recent injuries. His left arm was cradled in a dark medical sling, but the grey, exhausted look was finally leaving his skin.Chris took a slow sip through his straw, swallowed, and pointed the green glass toward Adrian. "See? I told you the sun would make you feel better. Your color is returning back to normal."Adrian let out a low laugh and shook his head. He looked down at his drink, then back at Chris. It was fascinating to watch the shift in his friend. With every major victory they secured against the legacy dynasties, a layer of heavy pressure seemed to lift from Chris's shoulders. Around the boardrooms and durin

The fallout from the Judas Strategy was like an explosion that didn't stop. Within minutes of the files hitting the internet, the quiet streets of Onyx Harbor turned into a scene of chaos. The news was everywhere. It was on every smartphone, every office computer, and every television screen in every coffee shop. The press and media didn't just report the news; they hunted for more. News anchors were calling for immediate action. They didn't use soft words. They used words like "fraud," "murder," and "betrayal." Public outrage grew by the second. The most vocal groups were the clients of the Holloway jewelry line. These were wealthy, influential people who had spent millions of dollars on what they thought were rare, natural diamonds. Finding out they had been wearing synthetic "fake stones" made them furious. They didn't just want their money back; they wanted the Holloways in prison. Groups of them started gathering outside the Holloway flagship stores, shouting for justice. At the

The CEO of Orixa-Tech, a woman named Funke, was just as tough."We’ve seen what happens when big firms move into Lagos," Funke said. "You’ll take our tech and move the headquarters to Europe. We want to stay here and build our local economy."Chris shook his head. "I want the tech, Funke, but I don't want to move you. I want you to be my regional hub.""That’s what they all say," Funke argued. "But then the contracts change. I cannot agree to a majority stake sale if it means my people lose their jobs."Again, they hit a wall. Adrian started typing on his laptop and then showed Chris the screen. He had drafted a "Local Autonomy Agreement" that guaranteed the headquarters would stay in Lagos for at least a decade and promised a massive budget for local hiring.Chris smiled and pitched the new deal to Funke. "I’ll sign a ten-year residency agreement. Orixa-Tech stays in Lagos. We will double your hiring budget specifically for local talent. I’m not here to erase you; I’m here to fuel yo

The sun had barely started to peek through the curtains when Chris Greene opened his eyes. He didn’t linger in bed. There was too much to do. He went to his dressing room and skipped the tailored suits he usually wore for business. Instead, he pulled on a pair of dark jeans and a plain black t-shirt. He threw a light jacket over his shoulders and laced up his sneakers. Today wasn’t about looking like a CEO; it was about finishing a job.He grabbed his laptop from the nightstand and headed straight for the mansion’s medical wing. When he pushed the door open, he stopped in his tracks. Adrian was sitting upright in bed, his color looking a bit better and his eyes bright. He had two tablets propped up on his lap and a laptop on the rolling over-bed table.Chris shook his head in disbelief. "Adrian, do you even sleep? I’m starting to think you’re more of a machine than BODAS."Adrian let out a dry laugh that ended in a small wince. "Sleep is for people who don't have a world to conquer, C
