Chapter3 Level Up

"What in the hell is that!?" Arden let out a scream.

Suddenly, he stood up and strengthened his grip on the Lazonion Swift Blade he had been holding.

His gaze swept the area around him, looking for any indication that a Direbrinbare might be nearby. Yet, much to Arden's surprise, he didn't see anything besides the vegetation that was all around him.

This realization only served to make him more anxious because he was unable to spot a potential enemy who, based on the sound, could be in his immediate location.

"Where are you, Direbrinbare? Show yourself!" Arden yelled, but there was no response from anyone.

"krrrrrr"

"Ahh!" Arden was startled when the croaking sound returned to his ears for a second time.

This time around, Arden paid close attention to the origin of the sound, and as a result, he was able to pinpoint where it came from.

Arden discovered that the peculiar croaking sound that originated from his stomach came as the biggest surprise to him.

"Ah, it turns out that my tummy is the one making such a loud noise; I forgot that I haven't eaten since I came into this world?" Arden thought.

"But what am I supposed to eat in this place!" Arden rubbed his stomach and mused as he did so.

He searched his environment for anything edible, but he was unsuccessful up until the point where his eyes began to gently trace towards the dead Direbrinbare .

Arden's first thought was, "Fortunately, the carcass is still fresh, and it appears to be edible; all I need to do now is figure out how to cook it," and he immediately set to work.

An hour had passed by, Aarden could be seen enjoying a meal consisting of roasted meat, which he had prepared by building a campfire using the dry wood and thatch that he discovered in his immediate environment.

He might not know what the Direbrinbare was, but Arden sure enjoyed its delicious meat; he could care less about its origin.

Occasionally, he would use the Lazonian swift blade to cut off a tiny portion of the freshy meat, then he would roast it over the campfire, and finally, he would shove it into his mouth.

This process was repeated until Arden's stomach was completely packed with roasted meat.

Arden stroked his stomach while displaying a sluggish and unconcerned attitude.

It was as though he had forgotten about his current circumstances; even his injuries did not seem to bother him at this moment, despite the fact that he was experiencing some discomfort as a result of them.

But, Arden's moment of tranquility and peace was shattered as he was disturbed by the sound of the system.

[ Ultimate Leveling System Loading completed, Host will now be given a minor tutorial about his status]

Unfortunately, after hearing the voice, Arden did not feel even a slight bit of excitement.

"Oh, it's you! Have you come to bother me while I'm enjoying myself?" Arden said as he rubbed his belly

[ Host will now be given his first status upgrade]

[ Host spawned into the jungle of carnage with a bonus upgrade into level 1 0f rank A.]

[Host completed the initiation mission to survive two minutes under a Direbrinbare s onslaught and gained the lazoniun swift blade and additional 40 Exp to level up into level 2 of rank A]

[ Host completed the blood-cleansing mission and successfully made his first kill. for this, Host is rewarded with 200 nexus coins and another 60 Exp to level up to level 3 of rank A]

[ Host's successive level ups will now be initiated]

"Ahhh!" Arden gasped as, all of a sudden, vast energy began to flow through his body and gradually made him feel more powerful.

He was completely oblivious to the fact that the energy from the Exp was progressively elevating his entire life to a more advanced existence.

He could only feel his muscles growing denser and more compact, and he had the impression that he was far stronger than he had been before.

When all of the activity came to an end, Arden felt significantly more powerful. In fact, he felt like he was so much stronger that he could have pulverized the Direbrinbare with just one punch rather than having to use the Lazonion swift blade at all.

"I've become so powerful just like that; is this what it means to level up?" As Arden exercised his body, he reflected on a number of things.

[ Host's current statues will now be analyzed]

"What's the deal with this skill stuff?" Arden inquired, but the only response he received from the system was a change in subject.

[ Mission survival search has been initiated, Host is to get to the beacon before twenty four hours or host will be eliminated by system's electrocution]

"Beacon? What beacon?" Arden asked but there was no reply. The system went silent from this moment onward, regardless of his speech and actions.

"What's this supposed to mean? You interrupted my rest and then gave me some nonsense mission without explaining anything; what am I supposed to do!"

Arden kicked the tree trunk in between his rants and at that exact moment, a green glow suddenly emanated behind him.

Arden hastily turned around to see what was going on.

He thought that he was going to be faced with a terrifying enemy; however, it turned out to just be a pillar of green light that rose to the skies.

Judging by its location, Arden deciphered that it was probably hundreds of kilometers away from his current location.

"What is that?" Arden mumbled to himself as he goggled at the pillar of green light intently and in perplexity.

[ The beacon has been set. The host should reach the beacon in the required time to avoid elimination]

[ Host life force sensors are now activated]

Immediately after the system's voice rang, Arden felt a marvelous change in himself; suddenly, his senses became a dozen times sharper.

"Ahh, I feel so cool."

He had a subtle feeling that every living thing around him had become more lively. However, that wasn't to be exact.

The truth was most probably that he could now sense the life force within all the living creatures with all his senses automatically. And he could use this unique life force sensing to determine the state of existence of the living things in his surroundings, be it plants or animals.

"This is so amazing," Arden beamed before a dark gloom cast over his face as he mumbled. "Unfortunately, this doesn't increase my strength in any way."

"Crutch!" "Crutch!" "Crutch!" "Crutch"

"Who's there!"

As Arden was immersed in examining his new ability, the sound of footsteps rang in his ears, Alarming him.

"Relax, we're not here to hurt you; we aren't your enemy," a soft melodious voice rang out as a beautiful and alluring figure stepped out from the veil of trees and majestically walked forth.

Arden turned his gaze, and there, emerging gracefully from behind the tangled tree, was a figure of unparalleled beauty.

She possessed an otherworldly aura, her skin glistening like moonlight on a calm lake, and her flowing gown seemed woven from moonbeams and starlight. She looked completely human except for her pointy ears.

As their eyes met, Arden felt an inexplicable feeling swirling up in his heart.

"Your….. An Elf?" he managed to stutter.

Her voice, soft and melodious, reached his ears like the distant rustle of leaves in a gentle breeze. "Greetings, lost wanderer; I am Evnor, the princess of the Moon Elf clan."

Arden's heart fluttered, captivated by her enchanting presence. He found himself transfixed, unable to tear his gaze away from her luminous eyes.

"Why are you ignoring her highness, you wretch!" A cold voice rang in his head as another Elf beauty stepped out from behind Evanor and exclaimed.

"How rude," Arden muttered to himself

"Noiter, you can't be rude, an unknown wanderer; apologize now!" Evnor snapped.

"Yes, my princess."

Noiter accepted before reluctantly bowing towards Arden and apologizing. "so..ry…."

"Who might you be, young man?" Two golden armored elves stepped out from behind the princess and the other girl and one of them, A middle aged elf, spoke to Arden.

"Taking a look at the middle age elf in golden armor, Arden inexplicably sensed a great deal of pressure.

"This guy is so strong, I wonder what rank he's in, well whatever, I don't seem to be in his league at all, from the intensity of life force emanating from his body, he's most likely able to kill me with a punch.

"I need to be careful around him."

"I am Arden Von, an ordinary human," Arden finally replied after thinking things over.

"Arden Von en, your name and race sound strange, something I have never heard of before, but you are definitely not ordinary. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to slay a rank three Celestial Novice Direbrinbare."

A smile played upon the elf princess's lips, a knowing glimmer in her eyes listening to the middle-aged Elf.

"Ah, you got me there, so.. what do you guys want from me?" Arden asked though he didn't know what the hell the middle-aged elf meant by Celestial novice.

All the Elves directed their gaze towards the princess after hearing Arden's question.

"Arden, traveling alone in these woods is very dangerous for someone at your level; I would like to invite you into my group. We are journeying towards the mysterious light."

"We are going there to investigate it."

"Oh, that's where I am also going." Arden mumbled. "Hmm, should I trust these guys? The Elf princess seems ok, but am I sure I can trust the rest? Especially that Noiter who has been staring daggers at me the whole time."

"On the other hand, I am not sure I can get to the beacon alone; what if I encounter high creatures as strong as the middle-aged elf?

"Since they're also heading for the beacon, I guess I should tag along; this would greatly increase my chances of completing the Search mission."

After much thinking, Arden faced the princess and answered. "I agree to join your group."

"Glad you agreed," Evnor smiled.

"let's set out, princess; we haven't got all day; we don't know when the mystical light will disappear," The other middle-aged elf in golden Amour, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly said solemnly.

"Right, sir Micrio, I almost forgot, let's get going," Evnor remarked as she beckoned Arden.

"mmhf," Noiter snorted at Arden as she tailed the princess.

Arden didn't mind this, though; he didn't take such a rude girl seriously.

As the five of them strode towards the beacon, they moved fast but carefully.

However, despite this, they were almost discovered by a local beast which emanated an unassuming roar into the sky.

Accompanied by its roar, the beast's powerful presence indiscriminately wafted into all of the surroundings, startling Arden.

Despite this, though, the princess and her maid seemed unperturbed.

The princess turned towards Arden with an assuring smile and said.

"The beast seems very powerful, but you don't have to worry too much even if it discovers us; Sir Micrio is also in the rank of an astral servant and will be able to deal with it."

"Astral servant?" Arden muttered with a puzzled look that displayed he didn't know what she was talking about. He could at least infer that she was talking about the level of strength of the beast and Micrio, but that was all.

"Don't you know about the six ranks of Astro mages?" Evanor remarked after seeing Arden's puzzled look.

"No, I've heard of mages, but I don't know anything about mages, am… Kind of from a remote area within the forest," Arden shook his head.

"Mhhff, what a country bumpkin; no wonder you disrespected her highness'' by the side; Noiter snorted at Arden, but he didn't even pay her any attention. He continued to look at the alluring princess inquisitively.

"Your area must be really remote for you to even reach a rank three Celestial Novice without knowing much about Astro mages," the princess blurted.

Though Arden's reason was a little ridiculous, it sounded understandable to her as this forest which he claimed to live in is an isolated place in the whole Evermore island where few people venture into.

"Well then, since you've joined my group, I'll show you a little grace and educate you a little about the Astro world's common knowledge."

"In the Astro world, we are currently located on a small island called the Evermore island.

The island is inhabited by a lot of magical beasts and magical races who live in clans, kingdoms."

"This is so old-fashioned," Arden thought inwardly but didn't voice it out.

"The Astro world as a whole is ruled by the strong; in order to get strong, one must harness the power of Astro energy existing in the world and fuse it with oneself to acquire super strength and abilities; those who can achieve this are known as Astro Mages."

"Astro Mages are also grouped into ranks from the weakest to strongest."

"The weakest rank is Celestial Novice."

"Then Astral Savant"

"After that, it's the Radiant Adept."

"Then Luminous Paragon"

"Then Stellar Vanguard"

"The highest rank known in the Astro world is the Celestial Ascendant."

"Wow!" Arden blurted in fascination after listening to the Elf Princess; he had never thought that this world would be so amazing and very different from the structure of Earth.

After learning about the ranks and amazing abilities of Astral mages, Arden was able to compare it with the system's way of ranking his strength and realized that Level 3 of rank A in the system ranking represents Rank Three of the Celestial Novice.

The realization made him excited as he wondered just how amazing he'll become with the assistance of the system.
