Chapter7:  The poisonous sergeant king II

Arden proceeded deeper into the dark passage, as he walked further, it got gloomier and darker but he also sensed that the narrow passage was becoming wider and wider.

"just where the hell is this passage leading to?" Arden mumbled as he progressed forth, his heart still pounding heavily and his eyes scanned around wearily.

Though he just killed a couple of snakes which made him have more courage to face what lies ahead, his innate fear for snakes couldn't let him be at peace.

   "shhhhh!"

Following a strange sound, a cluster of green gas appeared ahead as Arden continued trudging.

"Ahh!" Arden exclaimed softly as he started at the region of the passage in front of him which was complete cliuded by the cluster of green gases.

"what the hell, is this a poison miasma, looks like I have hit a dead end" Arden blurted as he halted his advance. A chill ran down his spine as he hastily turned around to retreat.

However, just when he took one step, the clustered gas ahead suddenly surged violently and engulfed all of his surrounding.

"Ahhhhhhh!" Arden shouted out histerically as he was being enveloped by the poisonous green gas however soon his shout died down as he exclaimed.

"what?, am not hurt? Looks like the gas isn't corrosive"

As things turned out, Arden didn't get burned or infected by the poisonous gas like he though he would.

A sigh of relief escaped from Arden as he continued moving forth. This time he was even more cautious, looking left and right, front and back before taking a step at a time.

Arden didn't go far in the sea of poisonous gas when numerous hissing sounds plunged his ears, along with that was a loud war cry emanating from a familiar voice.

"it's sir Micro's voice, just who is he fighting!" Arden quickly dashed forth but as he did so, he didn't forget to be careful.

After a short run, Arden exited the passage, the first view which entered his sight was that of Evnor and sir Micrio who were currently surrounded by a swarm of poison strip snakes.

"Oh my god!" Arden exclaimed at the New sight of the malevolent looking snakes. Unlike the ones he encountered previously, there snakes looked much larger and dangerous.

Currently, Sir Micrio was covered in corrosive green blood as he fended of the attacks of more than twenty of such snakes while protecting the princess. His golden armour was wrecked beyond recognition.

A powerful might belonging to rank two of Astral Servant exuded out of Sir Micrio as he battled the poison strip snakes, swinging his axe at every attacking snake to fend of against their attack, he had prevailed against seven snakes who's corpses laid cold on the ground of the cave.

However, despite, his fierce counter, some snake attacks managed to bypass his defences and injure him. Evnor, did her best to support him from behind by unleashing bursts of radiant energy which struck the snakes from time to time but it did little as the snakes were equipped with strong defences.

Arden nearly trembled in fright from the sinister aura emanation from the poison stripped snakes, their life force suggested that they where all in level five and above.

Above level five of rank A is rank B which is equivalent to the the rank of Astral Servant which Sir Micrio was currently in, it was no wonder the powerful guard was forced into such a state.

"I have to lend a helping hand, however, those things are too powerful for me to handle alone, how should I even help" Arden thought, he wasn't going to ignore Micrio and the princesses plight because of how they've been of help to him but then again, he didn't wish to court death by acting like a foolish hero.

"Luckily the snakes haven't noticed me yet, I can just think of a plan fast, I can deal with those snakes in level five of rank A however, those of rank B are way beyond my league"

"Wait a second I have something here that can be of help" as soon as he came to this sudden realisation, Arden waved his hand and a long black pole suddenly materialised into his grip.

"The Serpent suppression pole, let see what you're made of" Arden muttered as he slowly approached the battlefield.

On his way to the battlefield, Arden meticulously, exermined the snakes one after the other and analyzed that of the twenty snakes, twelve were in level 5 of rank A, five were in level 1 of rank B, while 3 were in level 2 of Rank B.

As the fierce battle, carried on, Arden suddenly swoof out from behind a snake and attacked it.

Arden target the closest snake to him which was in level 5 of Rank A, the pitiful snake didn't even get to squeal as its head was instantly smashed to pieces and it's poisonous blood spilling everywhere.

"Lad its you!" Micrio exclaimed in between his fight against the snakes

"Arden!" Evnor Exclaimed, her beautiful eyes fixed on his person in shock, his simple action had caused great waves in her heart, just how did he suddenly get so strong to squash the powerful snake which she had a hard time dealing with so easily?

Arden's sudden entrance into the battlefield, didn't only alarm the princess and her guard but also the poisonous strip serpents who hissed and gazed viciously at him.

However, Arden didn't cower from their vicious gazes, the only thing in his mind at this moment was to kill as much as possible to reduced their numbers.

With a fierce hawl, Arden lunged at a nearby snake which was also attacking him, to his greatest surprise, just when the pole got close to the snake, it froze as if all life had been lost from it's being and the pole pulvorised it soon after.

"Wow!, This thing is so amazing!" Arden blurted as he mounted another attack, the realization of how effective the serpent suppression pole was against snakes made Arden excited as well as made him regret that he hadn't used it sooner.

"Die by my pole you slithering bastards!" with a grawl, Arden smashed to death, one snake after the other, with only one swing of the serpent suppression pole.

Notifications exploading in his head one after the other sounding like heavenly music.

"How is this possible!" both Evnor and Micro where shocked beyond belief, Arden's pace and ease in his attacks looked to illogical to them.

Despite his successive kills though, Arden made sure to avoid all the snakes in rank B as he wasn't sure how effective the pole was against them.

Seeing Arden's unending killing spree, Micrio heaved a released sigh as the pressure on him was greatly reduced.

Ahhh! With loud howl, Arden finished off the last poison strip serpent in rank A but he didn't stop at that, he lunged unto a rank B serpent, wishing to test the waters.

To Arden's delight, the rank B poisonous strip serpent was immediately squashed just like those in rank A, the realization made Arden shout in delight as he pounced on the remaining snakes, killing them swiftly one after the other with only one swing of the serpent suppression pole.

    [Requirements for level up achieved]

    [Level up initiated]

Arden beemed with joy as he successfully, levelled up into level 1 of rank B equivalent to the first grade of Astral Servant.

     "cough!" "cough!"

"Sir Micrio!" while Arden was reeling from joy after his level up, Evnor's voice entered his ears, urging him to turn.

Just as he turned, he saw that the mighty and powerful sir Micro who bravely fought against so many snakes to defend the princess, was now coughing violently and appeared to be in his last leg.

"Are you ok?" Azraf asked after rushing over.

"it's probably the end for me, to fend of against those snakes and defend the princess, not only are my vitals gravely injured, I had to exhaust my life essence to activate powerful attacks"

"don't say that sir, we can still save you, as long as you take my life nursing early, you should be fine" Evnor blurted in all anxiousness and sorrow, her beautiful face now looked quite pitiful with guilt.

Tears streamed down her face. She was well aware that Micrio ended up in such a way only because he strived to protect her who became his burden in a moment of danger.

"Don't waste such a precious pill on me princess, this guard knows well of his body condition, even if I take it, with my current damages, it will only prolong my life for an hour at most"

"Even hour will amount to something, why don't you…"

"Please stop!" the princess was about to persuade micro further but he cut her off and turned to Arden.

"Young lad, am leaving the princess in your care, please promise me that you'll keep her safe and get her out of here"

"I'll do my best to protect the princess" Arden remarked straightforwardly, he wasn't absolutely sure he could keep the princess safe with his measly strength but he'll surely do his best to protect her.

"Alright I'll take your words for it" After saying this, Micrio suddenly collapsed and lost all signs of life.

"No!, Sir Micro!" Evnor wailed pitifully and tears streamed down her swollen eyes, Arden felt sorry for her and was also saddened by Micrio's passing but just as he was about to offer words of comfort, the whole underground borehole trembled and Arden and Evanor were suddenly engulfed by a powerful suction force.

The suction force pulled them into the deepest part of the cave which turned into a cavern.

Arden and Evnor emerged on a platform located in a  chamber.

The chamber was vast and dimly lit, the walls lined with glowing crystals. In the center of the room was a massive snake, its scales glistening in the dim light.

The Snake King hissed, its eyes fixed on Arden coldly. It was massive, the size of a small house, with fangs as long as Arden's arms. Arden felt a surge of fear in his chest upon laying eyes on it.
