The next day came faster than expected.

Kai stirred awake to a soft chime echoing through his room, followed by the calm, emotionless voice of his home’s AI system.

“Good morning, Mr. Blackwood. Today is a good day. Temperature: 18°C. Mild clouds expected. Thane Jackson is at the main entrance, should I let him in?”

Kai blinked once, rolled onto his side, and stared at the ceiling.

Of course Thane was early.

He sat up slowly, cracked his neck once, then muttered, “Let him in. And tell him to wait in the sunroom. Don’t offer tea. He’s dramatic enough.”

“Confirmed,” the AI replied.

Twenty minutes later, freshly dressed in a sharp black silk shirt and slate grey slacks, Kai stepped into the sunroom, towel still in hand as he dried his hair.

Thane was already standing at attention like a military statue, back straight, expression solemn, hands respectfully behind his back.

“Young master,” he said, bowing.

Kai dropped into a chair, waving lazily. “Thane. I told you not to do that

The woman blinked twice, stunned as a gentle pulse of her own energy rippled through her veins. She could feel it—her strength. Her core. Her cultivation had returned.Even if not at full capacity, it was back. She sat up straighter, not caring about her half nakedness again, eyes wide as she looked down at her hands, then back up toward the man who’d just walked out as if he hadn’t done something borderline miraculous. Her brows furrowed in disbelief. He had unsealed her cultivation. He'd restored her.Just like that?Who the fuck was this strange and definitely crazy man? Before she could gather her thoughts properly, the door creaked open again.Kai strode back in, this time with a wad of crumpled cash in one hand and moved towards the table he'd dropped a new set of clothes before, picking it up with the other hand. Without sparing her much of a glance, he dropped both items unceremoniously on the foot of the bed.“There. Clothes. Cash. Door’s over there,” he said, pointing with h

  • 93: Of Pure Bodies and Dirty Minds

Kai was still staring.Like really staring. Not the subtle kind, not the creepy kind—just the kind that screamed, "I’ve got time and you’re entertainment."The woman shifted slightly under the weight of his gaze, raising a brow. “Why are you staring at me like that?”Kai let out a chuckle—low, amused, shameless.“Waiting for you to stop acting like a sealed-up drama queen and actually say something.” He leaned back with a yawn, stretching his limbs wide.“I’ve got a bit of free time today, so I figured... why not waste it listening to the bloody soap opera that got you nearly shredded in my training field?”He grinned lazily, voice dripping with sarcasm.“So, what’s your story? Lemme guess—you’re a runaway disciple from some overbearing sect who didn’t want to marry the old wrinkled elder in charge, so you dipped during your engagement ceremony? Or maybe you accidentally insulted a demigod’s favorite concubine and now they’ve sent all nine realms after your head?”The woman scoffed and

The room was still, dimly lit by the soft glow of the afternoon sun filtering through cream-colored curtains. The air smelled faintly of antiseptic and something faintly woodsy—pine maybe, or Kai’s cologne… not that she had a clue. She stirred under the thick blanket, groaning softly. Her body ached like she’d been trampled by an angry herd of minotaurs. Her head pounded. Her muscles screamed. And then—She froze. Why the hell was her skin touching the sheets? Was this how hell felt? Her eyes snapped open, and the first thing she registered was that she was lying on a large bed, dressed in nothing but her underwear and bandages. Her shirt was gone. Pants? Gone. Armor? What armor?“What in God's name—?!” she gasped, clutching the blanket to her chest like it was a shield against the perversion of the entire male species. She glanced down again. Her injuries were bandaged expertly. Someone had cleaned the blood, dressed her wounds. Okay. Fine. Great even. But—Who. Removed. Her. Clothes

  • 91: Trouble, Served Warm

The moment their attack shot toward Kai, powers combined in spiritual energy, something unexpected happened.A figure darted into view—a blur of red and blood—throwing herself in front of him with a trembling shield. The blast struck her barrier dead on, crackling with lightning and fire, and the force was enough to crackle the earth beneath her feet. Her body shook violently, knees buckling, but she remained standing, chest heaving and blood running down her lip.Kai blinked. She actually blocked it?That... that was new.He stared at her, puzzled. She was half-dead, clearly running on the last threads of energy, and yet she still stepped in to shield him?In Kai's mind, a dozen questions fired off like bullets. Was she stupid? Brave? Both? Who the hell risked themselves to protect a stranger who probably looked like he just rolled off a couch five minutes ago? Before he could process more, the woman turned to him sharply, voice urgent."Run! You're just a mortal... one hit from them

  • 90: Chest to Face Combat

Kai groaned loudly, rubbing his eyes like the world owed him an apology. The chaos hadn’t stopped. If anything, it was escalating. Trees crashing, wind howling, fireballs flying around the vast forest, and a bunch of maniacs screaming as if the forest was hosting an audition for the loudest cult on earth. The whole shit looked like a scene straight out of a cheap action drama."Great," he muttered, folding his arms as he watched one of the attackers throw a flaming crescent blade that nearly bisected a boulder. "A soap opera with superpowers. Just what I needed today."He yawned, cracking his neck to the side and grumbled louder, "Can't even sleep in this damn place without people bleeding everywhere."His eyes drifted to the chase still happening just ahead. The girl was still running like hell, bleeding, panting, and dodging death with style. Her pursuers? Still trying to barbecue her alive.Kai scratched his jaw, then the back of his head. “Damn,” he mumbled. “She's got lungs… mig

  • 89: Interrupted.

The yard was quiet, the sky dimmed by a heavy blanket of gray clouds. There wasn’t much sun, just enough light to cast soft, scattered shadows across the floor. Kai stood alone in the middle of Caleb’s training ground, shirt clinging to his skin, breath steady but forceful. His fists were already bruised, but he didn’t care. He didn’t come here to take it easy.He came back here because he wasn’t ready, he can't sleep when his heart was on fire. He'd wanted to go home and rest but he can't. Damn it...He hurled a hard punch forward, energy sparking off his knuckles as it collided with one of the enchanted dummies Caleb had set up. The wooden body groaned under the impact but held.Another punch. Then another, heavier than the last. He wasn’t aiming for precision anymore. Just power. Just impact. His eyes burned with frustration as he remembered his grandfather’s words—KK, a top-tier cultivator, once the heir of the Blackwood family. The golden boy. Powerful, entitled, and clearly no
