Meanwhile, at the Blackwell family mansion...

Now that Serena had divorced Ethan, she didn’t want to keep anything that belonged to him.

She called for the maid to come over and help her pack up all of Ethan’s belongings in her room so they could be thrown out.

While the maid was tidying up, Serena’s eyes caught something in the corner of the room—a ring.

This ring, with its dark gold color, was intricately etched with strange patterns. But it was the Phoenix gemstone set at the top that truly caught Serena’s attention.

She slowly stood up, picked it up, and examined it closely.

“This ring... why does it look so familiar?” she muttered to herself as she studied the ring.

The maid, noticing Serena’s reaction, suddenly seemed to recall something and spoke up.

“Miss, don’t you remember? A few years ago, you brought back a ring just like this from Miss Avery Mitchell’s house!”

What?!

The mention of Avery’s name triggered something in Serena’s mind.

With a sharp turn, Serena quickly walked over to the jewelry box where she kept her accessories. After a brief search, she found the ring the maid was talking about—the one she had taken from Avery’s house.

Back then, before she married Ethan, she and Avery were like sisters, incredibly close. But in reality, they were more like surface-level “best friends.”

Serena had approached Avery because her family was the most powerful in Clouddale at the time. By aligning herself with Avery, Serena thought she could elevate the Blackwell family to new heights.

But then, disaster struck. Two years later, the Mitchell family fell from grace, and their power was no longer what it once was. Naturally, as Avery’s usefulness faded, so did Serena’s friendship with her. After all, if someone couldn’t bring Serena any advantage, they were no longer her "friend."

She clearly remembered seeing her "best friend," Avery, wearing a unique ring, which piqued Serena’s curiosity. So, she had taken the opportunity, when Avery wasn’t paying attention, to steal the ring.

What intrigued her the most was the Phoenix gemstone—it was unlike anything she’d ever seen.

After a few moments of playing with the ring, her fascination wore off, and she carelessly tossed it aside. If the maid hadn’t reminded her today, she probably wouldn’t have thought about it at all.

But now, with Ethan having a ring exactly like it...

How?

Suddenly, Serena’s expression turned icy, her anger swelling in an instant.

Seeing her "man" wearing the exact same ring as her "best friend" made her even more certain. Ethan must have cheated on her with Avery Mitchell!

After all, how else could he have a ring so identical?

A fire of humiliation and rage ignited within her chest, burning brighter and fiercer than ever before.

In that moment, she grabbed her phone, intending to call Ethan and confront him about it. But before she could dial, her mother’s call came through.

Sighing, Serena composed herself and answered.

“Hello, Mom. What’s up?”

“Serena! I heard you’ve divorced Ethan? Is that true?” her mother, Ariana Hayes, asked eagerly, excitement and anticipation in her voice.

“Yes,” Serena replied without hesitation, nodding as if her mother could see her.

"Good! That's the best decision you’ve ever made!" Ariana said, clearly overjoyed. “And guess what? Victor just called me! He wants to invite you to dinner tonight at Golden Palace, the most luxurious five-star hotel in Clouddale!"

She continued, her tone almost giddy with excitement. “This dinner is to celebrate Victor successfully securing the contract with the Blackgold Consortium!”

Serena’s mother continued, “Sweetheart, you must make sure you look your absolute best. We can't let the Blackwell family lose face!”

Serena smiled. “Got it, Mom. I’ll make sure to look perfect tonight!”

“Good girl,” Ariana said, clearly pleased. “Now, go and show them what you’re made of. I’ll be waiting to hear all about it.”

After hanging up, Serena’s lips curved into a sly smile.

Golden Palace—the most prestigious and exclusive restaurant in Clouddale. To dine there was a symbol of status. And now, with Victor’s invitation, it only further emphasized the significance of this dinner.

She was more than ready for it.

“Get my best gown ready!” she called out excitedly to the maid. “Tonight, I’m going to make sure Victor knows just how much I appreciate his help.”

Moments later, outside Golden Palace.

As the most luxurious hotel in the city, Golden Palace was a true marvel. Its grandeur and exclusivity were unmatched.

Only the wealthiest and most influential could get access to the hotel, as it was members-only.

When Serena’s mother, Ariana, learned that Victor had invited them to dine here, she was excited and proud.

Eating here wasn’t just about the food—it was a declaration of wealth and power. What’s more, the fact that Victor had helped them secure the Blackgold Consortium deal made this even more significant.

As Ariana walked toward the entrance of the Golden Palace, still glowing with excitement, she was stopped in her tracks by a familiar figure.

“Ethan?!”
