**Chapter 3**

I pulled my hand back from Sophia’s wrist the moment the System warning hit me like a thunderbolt. My heart slammed against my ribs as the words echoed inside my skull. Fifteen minutes. That was all the time I had before Zhao Jun’s dogs arrived to kill both of us. The Divine Diagnosis Eye showed me everything in sharp detail. Three black SUVs were already speeding through the city streets toward the hospital. Inside them were elite bodyguards armed with guns and one professional assassin carrying a silenced pistol and a vial of fast acting poison.

Sophia noticed the sudden change in my expression. She tilted her head slightly her beautiful eyes narrowing with concern. “What is wrong Draven. You look like you just saw a ghost.”

I stood up quickly and moved toward the window of the luxurious suite keeping my voice steady. “We do not have much time Miss Laurent. The Zhao family is coming for revenge and they are not playing games this time. They sent armed men. They want you dead too because you humiliated Zhao Jun in public by choosing me over him.”

Her face remained calm but I saw the flash of anger in her eyes. She stood up gracefully and walked to my side. “I have dealt with threats before. My security team can handle them.”

I shook my head. “Not this time. These men are professionals and they are already close. Trust me on this. I can protect you but I need you to stay close to me.”

Before she could reply the System chimed again giving me exactly what I needed.

“Ding. Side quest activated. Protect Sophia Laurent and neutralize the Zhao family threat. Partial completion reward available. Beginner level Immortal Needle Technique mastery increased. One detoxification pill granted for immediate use.”

A small jade bottle appeared inside my pocket. I took it out and handed one glowing pill to Sophia. “Swallow this right now. It will temporarily strengthen your body against the poison inside you and give you more energy. We will finish the full cure later.”

She looked at the pill for only a second before swallowing it without hesitation. The effect was almost instant. Color returned to her cheeks and her posture straightened as new strength flowed through her. She stared at me with growing amazement. “How did you…”

The sound of heavy footsteps and shouting erupted from the hallway outside the suite. They were already here. Faster than I expected.

I pushed Sophia gently behind me and faced the door. My body felt alive with power. The Perfect Body Refinement had turned me into something far beyond a normal human. When the first bodyguard kicked the door open I moved like lightning. My fist connected with his chest before he could raise his gun. The man flew backward crashing into two others behind him. Guns clattered to the floor.

“Kill the boy first. Take the woman alive for the young master,” a cold voice ordered from the hallway. That had to be the assassin.

Three more men rushed in shooting wildly. I grabbed a metal tray from the medical table and spun it like a shield. Bullets ricocheted off it as I advanced. With the Immortal Needle Technique I flicked my fingers sending hidden energy needles into their pressure points. Two bodyguards dropped instantly paralyzed and screaming in pain. The third one tried to stab me with a knife but I caught his wrist twisted it and knocked him unconscious with one precise strike to the neck.

Sophia watched everything from behind me her eyes wide with disbelief and something else. Admiration. Heat. The kind of look that made my blood run hotter.

The assassin finally stepped into the room. He was a tall thin man with dead eyes and a silenced pistol pointed straight at my head. “Not bad kid. But you are still going to die here tonight.”

He fired three shots in quick succession. I dodged the first two and felt the third graze my shoulder. Pain flared but the refined body healed it almost immediately. I closed the distance in a blink and slapped the gun out of his hand. Then I drove two fingers into his shoulder using the needle technique to seal his meridians. He collapsed to his knees unable to move his arms.

“Who sent you exactly,” I demanded pressing my foot on his chest. “Zhao Jun or someone higher in the family.”

The assassin laughed weakly. “You have no idea what you have stepped into boy. The Zhao family is just the beginning. There are bigger forces in this city that want the Laurent woman dead. You just made yourself their enemy too.”

Before I could press him for more answers the System voice rang out triumphantly.

“Ding. Side quest completed. Reward delivered. Advanced Body Refinement stage one achieved. Host strength speed and healing increased by five times. Additional one billion yuan transferred. New title unlocked. Protector of the Ice Queen. This title increases charm toward powerful beautiful women by thirty percent.”

Sophia stepped forward and placed her hand on my arm. Her touch was warm now thanks to the pill. “Draven you saved my life. I do not know how you did all this but I owe you everything. From now on you are under my protection. No one in this city will touch you.”

I looked down at her stunning face so close to mine. The System title was already working. Her eyes held a softness I had not seen before and her body leaned toward me naturally. The air between us felt charged with electricity.

But the victory was short lived.

My Divine Diagnosis Eye suddenly picked up something much worse. Far below in the hospital parking lot another group had just arrived. These men were different. They wore black suits with hidden badges and carried weapons far more advanced than the Zhao thugs. One of them held a tablet showing live footage of this very suite.

The System voice returned with an urgent new alert.

“Ding. Hidden danger detected. Elite agents from the City Shadow Bureau have arrived. They have been monitoring Sophia Laurent for months because of her secret research. They now see host as an unknown variable and a threat. New main quest branch unlocked. Deal with the Shadow Bureau agents without exposing the Divine Doctor System. Success reward. God level medical inheritance fragment and Sophia Laurent full loyalty.”

I felt my stomach tighten as heavy knocks sounded on the suite door. This time it was not Zhao family muscle. These were government level operators and they were not here to talk.

Sophia’s face paled as she recognized the pattern of knocks. “That code. It is the Shadow Bureau. Draven what have we gotten ourselves into.”

I clenched my fists ready for the next storm. The real game had just begun and the enemies were far more dangerous than I ever imagined.
