Pack your things and leave now!” Leon holds his hand over his chest, this is a betrayal that he will never recover from! He has been used for three years by the Xavier family! Selina folds her hands. “My lawyer will bring the divorce papers very soon, and you will sign them.” “You are throwing me out like a dog, Selina! That's unfair, I gave you my all for three years!” Leon cries out as he steps forward. Victoria scoffs. “And so what, Leon? We allowed you to marry into our family, is that not gracious enough?” “What has Damien done that I haven't done for Selina?!” He asks. “I took care of her, but he abandoned her for three years!” “And he gave me the injection that woke me up!” Selina roars back in his face. Leon is numb. Did Damien really get Selina to stand up after three years? Is he the miracle worker? Selina and her mother see the heavy shock on Leon's face, and this makes them look at each other and laugh. “You think that Damien is useless and unknown like you? He is the youngest child of the Shankly family! His sister is a marvelous doctor and they have the biggest medical and investment empire! His sister's newest drug has brought me back to consciousness, even though I have to take it everyday to remain awake, else it will be temporary. She is busy, but she will soon give me a permanent cure in a week!” Leon swallows a hard lump of sorrow. He was going to be a doctor too, he was in his third year of medical school, but he dropped out after what happened to his adoptive mother… He is lost in this situation, wasting his love on a comatose woman that won't even appreciate him now. He still has to take care of his mother, so he has to accept defeat and look for a way to benefit from this for the last time. “I won't be divorcing you.” He declares. “Excuse me?” Selina glares. “I have a right in this marriage, so I can say I won't divorce you.” He says. “Except you agree to give me $3000 every month.” “Excuse you!” Victoria snaps at him. “How dare you try to squeeze cash out of my family? You are a gold digger!!” “You can call me all you want, but I will use the $3000 to treat my mother. Agree to give me that sum every month, for two years, and we have a deal.” He expects Selina to burst out in even more rage, but she smiles wickedly and folds her hands. “$3000? Is that what you want? That money is chicken change to my family, our dogs’ treats are more expensive than that, so it's not a problem…” Leon sighs with relief. Seems that Selina still has a little bit of humanity, after all. His plan is to use the money for his mother's medication. “Thank you, Selina.” “But under one condition.” “Anything, I will do.” He shrugs. She smirks as she slowly tosses her left leg forward. “I will agree, if you go down on your knees and kiss my beautiful feet.” Leon feels shame settle on him like a heavy blanket. He looks at his mother-in-law, but she is amused by what her daughter has just said. “Go on, Leon. Show us how important your poor mother is to you.” Does he have a choice? The money will keep his mother alive till he is able to find a good job to sustain both of them, so he goes down on his knees. He shuts his eyes as he leans forward to kiss her feet, he just wants to be done with it. What he doesn't know is that Selina has moved her foot back, before gathering enough momentum to kick him in his face. He falls over, bleeding from his broken nose. She laughs and throws her head back with her mother. “Look at this worthless fool, mum? He will do anything for money. I can't believe you allowed him to even get married to me!” Leon takes out his handkerchief and holds it over his nose. This is the most humiliating day of his life.

Leon braces himself for the worst, because when he planned on coming to Kator, he made sure to do his research and he found a lot of strange things about Governor Baron. He is the only Governor that is related to the president, and the past two presidents, and that just shows how influential he has been. He has defied the constitution many times because he has contested and won as Governor of Kator for fifteen years and no one dares to say anything. He has also diverted a lot of public funds for himself, and anyone who dares to bring it up or start a protest will just go missing very suddenly.
