Reginald dialed. The line clicked almost immediately.

“Lord Reginald,” came Caesar’s voice as steady and respectful as always.

“I counted eighteen cars,” Reginald said. “Where are the other four?”

There was a pause on the other end, followed by the shuffle of paper, then Caesar’s voice again, “Eight of the eighteen cars only had drivers in them. No jewellers.”

Reginald's brow creased. “So?”

“So those were cars that carried what was meant to be carried by the other four cars. The gifts you prepared, diamonds, gold bars, platinum pieces, meant for those missing four cars were split across the eight cars. We assigned the jewellers to only ten of the carriers to inspect and validate before arrival.”

“You split the inventory but cut the inspection crew?”

“It was a last-minute adjustment, Lord Reginald. You only gave us less than the hours of a day to get all those prepared after you texted me last night.”

Reginald exhaled slowly. He was not angry. “Call them back and tell them to return. I don't need the stocks anymore. I’m heading to the office.”

“Yes, Lord Reginald,” Caesar replied without missing a beat. “Should I prep the whole Empire for your arrival?”

“No. I didn't mean going to MY office. I'm going to my wife's office.”

There was another pause. Then Caesar asked cautiously, “You’re not coming back to RMG? The empire’s steady now. We cleared the board. You showing up, even for a minute, would signal solidity.”

Reginald stared out the café door, watching the last of the chrome cars parade vanish into a side street.

“Caesar, listen,” he said. “Right now, I need to find someone first. My old secretary. The one my father assigned to me eleven years ago.”

“Noah Walker?” Caesar said.

Reginald didn’t confirm or deny. “I need to see what’s in store… and what’s no longer meant for me from my family's side. Until then, you hold the seat of RMG Empire. You’re the mask to my face.”

Caesar hesitated, then said, “Understood, Lord Reginald.”

The call ended.

Outside, the last engine of those luxurious cars faded. The crowd was already dispersing, while murmuring. Some thought it was a movie stunt. Others were convinced it was the return of a king.

Reginald pocketed the small phone and straightened his collar. A woman pushing a stroller paused to stare at him. There was recognition in her eyes, then disbelief, then awe.

He gave her a slight nod. She blinked.

By the time she pulled out her phone to take a picture of him, Reginald was already halfway down the block, going away.

He had a wife to pretend to. He was going to use his wife to deal with Eloise Payton.

With that thought, Reginald immediately hailed a cab to the AlexXi Group headquarters.

The moment he stepped into the grand marble lobby, he was stopped.

“I need to see your CEO,” he said.

Yet, he was blocked. At his wife’s company. How Ironic.

The receptionist, a woman with the type of smug face you wanted to slap, glanced up from her desk. “Aren’t you the dummy?” she sneered. “Didn’t I tell you weeks ago to stop coming here and embarrassing the Ice Queen? Mrs. Christine Alexander made it very clear—no fools allowed. Especially not ones dragging in whatever stunt you’re trying today.”

Reginald’s fists clenched at his sides. Christine had allowed her employees to speak to him like this? She had grouped him with madmen? Even if he’d been a dimwit before, wasn’t he still her husband?

He slid both hands into his coat pockets and leaned forward slightly. His voice dropped to a chilled whisper. “Today, I will see your CEO. Either show me the way… or get out of mine.”

The receptionist scoffed, standing like she owned the place. “Who taught the dummy to speak like that?” she jeered. “You sound like you think those words actually belong to you. Don’t make me hit you with a mopstick. That’s the only way fools like you learn.”

Reginald’s eyes darkened. His posture was still calm but now, it was the stillness of a loaded spring.

Even a receptionist dared humiliate him. Clearly, Christine had set the tone. She’d stripped his dignity and handed it to the staff like it was a company memo. He was a walking joke to them. Less than a man.

Fine. Time to change the tone.

He flashed a smile. A bright, dazzling one. The kind of smile that made women pause and wonder if they’d misjudged him.

Then, without warning, he swept his arm across the reception desk. Books, pens, the flower vase, her silver-plated title tag, the phone, all crashed to the floor in a shattering mess.

The receptionist jumped back in shock. “Are you insane?!” she screeched. “You dare you—!”

Reginald grabbed her by the bun of her neatly packed hair and leaned in, his voice slicing through her panic. “How dare I not? You just called your boss’s husband a dummy and a fool.”

“If the Ice Queen finds out…! You’ll be finished!”

That name again. Like it was supposed to chain him down. Reginald let go but flung her across the room.

She flew backward, crashing hard onto the marble tiles. Gasps echoed around the lobby. She looked up at him, dazed and wide-eyed. The fear finally set in. Was he mad? Had the dummy gone rogue?

Reginald tilted his head, watching her go pale, and calmly dialed 911.

When the ambulance arrived, he waved cheerfully as she was carried out on a stretcher, smiling like he was seeing off a beloved niece on her wedding day.

Then, turning back to the stunned onlookers, he offered a soft, innocent smile. “Anyone else want to give the dummy a hard time?” he asked pleasantly.

They all stepped back in silence.

Sure, they’d mocked him before. But this man wasn’t the same. The fear in their eyes said it all: if they tried anything, they’d end up just like her.

Upstairs, in the executive suite, Christine Alexander narrowed her eyes at the surveillance monitor. On screen: There was Reginald Belmont, calm as ever and surrounded by fear and broken furniture.

“Lately…” she murmured, “This dimwit has been acting… strange.”

It wasn’t just his behavior. It was everything. His energy. His gaze. The way he looked at her that day and said the word divorce—then vanished for two days, only to return with this… this new version of himself.

Christine leaned back and crossed her arms. “Clyde, any updates on what I asked you to look into?”

Clyde Banks stepped forward. “Lady Boss,” he said, “I had someone check with the Belmonts. Mr. Reginald Belmont doesn’t have a tragic past to justify this change. In fact, they pampered him endlessly before and even after the crash. More than Mr. Garrett or the other Belmont children. There’s no trauma on record.”

Christine’s lips twitched into a frown. He was pampered and yet he acted like he had been wronged all his life.

She thought back to school days. Even then, Reginald was quiet but brave. He wouldn’t dare touch a woman, not even when provoked. She’d observed it quietly when she was curious about him. He was bold and brave, yes, but never dangerous.

And now? He’d actually thrown someone across a room.

Christine’s gaze sharpened. “Reginald Belmont… what exactly are you doing?”

Six years. Six years ago???? Was that why the Belmont estate felt so hollow that day when he went back there after he got his senses back? Was that also why Caesar had called the landline that day too?“And you…” Reginald pointed between both men. “You were holding this position… for me? Since six years ago?”Caesar gave Noah a sideways glance and nodded. “I had to pose as your grandfather’s trusted aide to your stepmother. Something wasn’t right. Meanwhile, this business was being kept alive by Noah, at least, whenever Mr. Garrett Belmont wasn’t tearing it apart.”Reginald narrowed his eyes. “Garrett. Of course.” He sighed. “Aside from my stepbrother, who else has been causing problems?”Almost on cue, a sleek black van pulled up outside. Reginald leaned toward the window. “Who’s that?”Noah didn’t answer directly. Instead, he said, “Young Master Belmont… I think it’s time we headed to the Vision Room.”The name had sounded dramatic but when he stepped inside, Reginald understood wh

He trusted that Caesar would never endanger him. “What’s your name?” he asked the man in the suit. The man gestured toward the car, leading him toward it with professional ease. Whether fool or not,” Reginald stated directly, wasting no time on unnecessary words.Christine paused. The pen in her hand pressed heavily into the paper. Finally, she looked up. "There’s two grand on this. Take it and get lost."Ex-boyfriend?Reginald froze slightly and turned to Eloise, confused. Since when… was he her ex?Eloise Payton straightened her back, her expression cold, deliberately stepping away from him. "I finally got that multi-million-dollar project you once promised but never had the ability to deliver. I started my own firm but it's a studio now. I’m a company boss now, worth millions."She gave a chilling smile. "I heard you just recently started thinking clearly again? Doesn’t matter. Until you’re fully sane, you’re still a lunatic to everyone anyway. We’re not on the same level anymore. You really think someone like you deserves me? I’m the daughter of the former mayor, remember?"Reginald looke

Reginald narrowed his sharp eyes. A faint trace of sarcasm flashed within his mink down eyes. Why did the air suddenly smell a bit… sour?He let out a low chuckle, careless and teasing. “A man and a woman, legally married, spending the night together in the same room. Little brother, what do you think happened?”Even as Garrett’s face turned dark with fury, Reginald showed no concern. In fact, he seemed to delight in stoking the fire.“You—!” Garrett, enraged, raised his hand to strike. But before the blow could land, a voice cried out by the door.“The Ice Queen… she’s actually asleep!”The one speaking was Clyde Banks, Christine’s personal assistant. Peeking in through the crack of the door, he was utterly stunned. His cold, insomniac lady boss was fast asleep in bed, sleeping soundly as peaceful as a child. It was Monday morning. It was already past nine, and Christine still hadn’t shown up to the office or called anyone to say she wouldn't be coming to the office. Clyde had panick
