Alec was still shirtless, sitting on the bed he had found himself on about an hour ago.

Those three words still lingered on his mind. one billion dollars.

How is that possible?

"Okay, talk to me, system," He started, adjusting himself on the bed. "I have one billion dollars in my bank account right now?"

"Positive."

"Jesus Christ," he muttered under his breath. "Does that mean I just got paid for….punching someone?"

"Correct. Financial incentives will continue as mission objectives are completed."

"Man...." Alec exhaled a breath. "I don't know what to say"

A thought slipped into his mind "Wait..." He frowned. "You're shitting me, aren't you, system?"

"Negative."

Alec blinked twice "You're not lying to me?"

"Positive"

"Uhm...." He hung his head "Positive?"

"Affirmative"

"Oh, God." He held his head with both hands, thinking in all directions available in his mind.

"Okay… maybe… " He laughed a little "Maybe I’m not entirely useless."

"Continued training required. Full power potential remains inaccessible until user meets next criteria." The system informed.

"Hm," Alec smirked as he processed the system's words carefully. "Interesting."

Alec still wanted to confirm what the system had told him about the money. He could check that on his phone.

His phone.

Only one guy would have kept it for him. Jeremy.

Minutes later, Alec was staring at a broken phone. His phone. Though it was very old but he was able to use it for few important things.

"You look like your heart got more broken than the phone"

Alec shook his head. His phone was cracked, black and lifeless....just like his other belongings.

"The rain did my phone dirty" He remarked. "Now I need a new one"

Jeremy stared at the damaged phone then flickered his eyes back to Alec. "Need to call someone?"

"Ahhhh....nah..." Alec hesitated then spoke. "But I need a phone. Fast."

Jeremy caught the urgency in his voice. "I could get you a new one"

"Please, I'd appreciate it" Alec quickly said.

one billion dollars.

"And I would pay you back" He added.

Jeremy blinked. "You sure you can afford it?" He asked carefully.

Alec smirked. "Yeah." one billion dollars rang in his head again. "I got lucky"

Jeremy raised his brows, smiled a little at Alec's words which he took as a joke, then he left to get the new phone without saying a word, but he was still thinking 'Alec was definitely joking, right?''

****

About an hour later, Jeremy had returned with a sleek, upgraded phone and had handed it to Alec who had collected it with an appreciative smile.

"Brand new as hell. You owe me 2800." Jeremy grinned.

Alec gave a nod then stretched the phone towards Jeremy. "Your phone number and bank details, please"

Jeremy narrowed his eyes at him before slowly dragging the phone from his grip. "I don't know what's going on," He chuckled, typing on the phone. "I was joking about the phone's payment but you seem to be serious about it, I mean..." He handed Alec back the phone. "You really just got lucky?"

"Yeah. I think so" Alec's mouth curved into a smile. "And I also think my luck just got started"

****

Alec could not wait to get home to focus on his new phone. All that was on his mind was to log in to his account quickly to see what the system had said to him.

"Thanks bro" He appreciated Jeremy. "Thanks for bringing me here, I really appreciate it, man"

Jeremy patted his back in a brotherly manner. "It's no problem, man, don't mention"

Alec couldn't help but have his thought wander to the system and everything he acquired today.

Power of the strength.

Power of money.

If he really had that money like the system had said, then he would be able to pay for his phone without issues, he would be able to help his dad and ...

"Wait, dad?" He blinked repeatedly "Holy shit!" He cursed as he remembered how his dad would be worried sick for not been able to see or communicate with him for days. "I gotta go," He said fastly. "Or my dad's gonna kill me." He whispered loudly, taking swift steps forward.

"Alec, wait!" Jeremy yelled and he halted.

He turned to Jeremy "Yeah?"

"Welcome to the team, bro."

A smile stretched Alec's lips. He gave a nod that showed his appreciation and dashed out.

****

Alec stared at his dad as he got himself busy with making dinner for two people—him and his son.

An unpleasant feeling settled in Alec's stomach as he thought about how his father would have been making dinner for two, all these while only for him not to show up.

He was certain his father had gotten very worried about him, hoped, prayed and had more hope that he would come home soon.

"Hi, dad" He greeted, heading towards the kitchen. He had a feeling his father had known about his presence the moment he arrived but he was just been calm and casual about it.

"Hi, dad" Alec greeted the second time and needed no soothsayer to tell him his dad was mad at him.

"Alexander Todd, Welcome back home" He said sarcastically and turned to Alec "Young man, you've got lots and lots of explaining to do"

"I'm sorry, dad" He apologized.

"I said lots of explaining, I didn't ask for an apology" Mr Todd said, using his stern voice.

Alec swallowed as he does not know what to tell his dad.

'I got beaten blue and black, died, and woke up after fifty four hours?'

Alec shook his head. He can't tell his father a story like that. He would freak out and shriek.

'I got my superpowers today. And yeah....I am now rich, I have one billion dollars in my bank account'

His father would never believe that. Or worse, he would think his son was going insane, especially because of the 'superpower' part.

No, especially because of the 'one billion dollars' part.

"Now you're suddenly quiet" Mr Todd's voice said a lot about how he was ready to scold Alec. "You were out for three days, Alexander, three good days and...."

"I went job hunting" Alec lied in a rush.

"What?" He wore a deeper frown.

"Job hunting, dad" Alec repeated with a low voice.

"Job hunting? Job hunt....." Alec's dad trailed off and scoffed "For three days Alexander? three fucki...freaking days?"

Alec smiled at his dad's effort not to use a curse word.

"Oh now it's funny to you!" His dad snapped.

"I'm sorry, dad" He apologized again. "To get a good job, I had to check everywhere in the city since I was desperate, and I finished up with everything very late at night so I slept at a friend's place" Alec explained in lies.

"Is that why you could not send a single text or give me a phone call?"

"Dad, I'm...."

"No text!" He snapped, cutting Alec off. "No phone call! Nothing....hold on a sec..." He narrowed his eyes at his son "You look different"

"Yeahhhh," Alec chuckled "I feel like my luck is getting really on today, so I am so happy"

"Obviously" He smiled at his son, his anger forgotten in a second. He opened his mouth to talk, but before he could utter a single word, Alec spoke up.

"I need to go, I have assignments" He lied again. He only wants to avoid his dad's numerous questions.

"Alec" His dad called him before he could completely disappear from the room.

"Yeah dad?" He gave his dad his attention.

"You didn't exactly tell me if you got the job or not"

"I...." His mouth was opening but he wasn't talking. "I got the job"

Mr Todd grinned, impressed. "What type of job is it?"

"Uh...a....a...." Alec stuttered causing his dad to raise his brows. "An assistant to an assistant's assistant in a big company" He lied again.

"What?" Mr Todd questioned, confused.

"I'll be an assistant to an assistant's assistant in the big company"

The man hung his head, staring in puzzlement at his son and reprocessing everything he said.

"Dad, I really need to go now" Alec said urgently, skipping away to his room.

Mr Todd, still in a confused state, faced the kitchen counter and soliloquized. "An assistant to an assistant's assistant?"

****

Alec was now standing in the middle of his small bedroom, his new phone in hand and his eyes fixed on the screen.

"No way...." He muttered, still staring at the screen, expecting the numbers to change to all zeroes. "It's gonna change soon, I know. I mean, I can't just get rich? Right? Right?" He breathed out "Right."

He paced the room. "I'm not gonna look at the phone now. Nah." He whispered holding the new device tightly. "The numbers are gonna change soon" He said to himself without looking at the screen of the phone.

He did one more pacing and finally brought the phone to his face. His eyes widened.

"Holy, shit!" He exclaimed, his heart pounding. "It's real!" He blinked repeatedly. "It is fucking real" He whispered "One billion dollars"

  • 80...D' Young...

Alec stared at the large screen at the HEP showing the event for tonight, and later, he released a short sigh."'D' Young Charity Gala," he pronounced slowly."Yep," Jeremy grinned. "You know that's gonna be like the hottest event of the year. And it's gonna have hot, bad girls, you know?" He wriggled his brows. Alec rolled his eyes, but there was a subtle smile at the corner of his mouth. "I'm serious though," Jeremy went on. "I feel like It's gonna be one of the hottest events of the year. Well... if you’re between sixteen and twenty-three, ridiculously rich, and kinda addicted to competition, you can attend and enjoy it."Alec squinted at the elegant banner across the screen. "So charity, huh?” he muttered with a meaningful snort. "I bet fifteen out of twenty kids attending the event don’t even know what they’re gonna be donating to.""Donating?" Jeremy scoffed a laugh. "Man, they are not donating," he said, tossing a protein bar toward Alec. “They’re buying status. And tonight,

"Dad?" Alec called casually. "Hmm?" His dad hummed without looking up from his phone, his glasses resting gently on his nose and his mouth scrunched. "Uhhh," Alec blinked, bending his face to look at his dad's face properly. "Dad, look at me, I wanna talk to you."Alan briefly looked up. "You wanna talk to me?"Alec nodded. "Yes, dad""You know?...." Alan's mouth scrunched up more, his eyes showing he was annoyed with whatever he was seeing on his phone. "Know what, dad?""Hold on a sec...""Dad, are you having issues with your phone's operation?""No," Alan quickly said. Alec narrowed his eyes. "I can handle the phone," Alan said with a tight smile then added in a mutter. "Maybe your boss could've bought a less complicated phone for me.""My boss thought you'd like that model, that's why he bought it for you." Alec said with a small smirk, his brain flashing back to how he had scrolled through phones to buy online and chose the one his dad was using. So, yes, it wasn't Alec's bo

Alec mumbled, pushing his hair back. Jeremy waited a moment before speaking again. "I'm just letting you know now..." He looked at Alec straight in the eye. "I'm not dropping this topic until you say something.""You don't have to be so hard on me, Jeremy," Alec complained with a small frown. "I thought I was your best friend.""Stop it," Jeremy deadpanned. "It's not working.""What?"
