Alec was still shirtless, sitting on the bed he had found himself on about an hour ago.
Those three words still lingered on his mind. one billion dollars. How is that possible? "Okay, talk to me, system," He started, adjusting himself on the bed. "I have one billion dollars in my bank account right now?" "Positive." "Jesus Christ," he muttered under his breath. "Does that mean I just got paid for….punching someone?" "Correct. Financial incentives will continue as mission objectives are completed." "Man...." Alec exhaled a breath. "I don't know what to say" A thought slipped into his mind "Wait..." He frowned. "You're shitting me, aren't you, system?" "Negative." Alec blinked twice "You're not lying to me?" "Positive" "Uhm...." He hung his head "Positive?" "Affirmative" "Oh, God." He held his head with both hands, thinking in all directions available in his mind. "Okay… maybe… " He laughed a little "Maybe I’m not entirely useless." "Continued training required. Full power potential remains inaccessible until user meets next criteria." The system informed. "Hm," Alec smirked as he processed the system's words carefully. "Interesting." Alec still wanted to confirm what the system had told him about the money. He could check that on his phone. His phone. Only one guy would have kept it for him. Jeremy. Minutes later, Alec was staring at a broken phone. His phone. Though it was very old but he was able to use it for few important things. "You look like your heart got more broken than the phone" Alec shook his head. His phone was cracked, black and lifeless....just like his other belongings. "The rain did my phone dirty" He remarked. "Now I need a new one" Jeremy stared at the damaged phone then flickered his eyes back to Alec. "Need to call someone?" "Ahhhh....nah..." Alec hesitated then spoke. "But I need a phone. Fast." Jeremy caught the urgency in his voice. "I could get you a new one" "Please, I'd appreciate it" Alec quickly said. one billion dollars. "And I would pay you back" He added. Jeremy blinked. "You sure you can afford it?" He asked carefully. Alec smirked. "Yeah." one billion dollars rang in his head again. "I got lucky" Jeremy raised his brows, smiled a little at Alec's words which he took as a joke, then he left to get the new phone without saying a word, but he was still thinking 'Alec was definitely joking, right?'' **** About an hour later, Jeremy had returned with a sleek, upgraded phone and had handed it to Alec who had collected it with an appreciative smile. "Brand new as hell. You owe me 2800." Jeremy grinned. Alec gave a nod then stretched the phone towards Jeremy. "Your phone number and bank details, please" Jeremy narrowed his eyes at him before slowly dragging the phone from his grip. "I don't know what's going on," He chuckled, typing on the phone. "I was joking about the phone's payment but you seem to be serious about it, I mean..." He handed Alec back the phone. "You really just got lucky?" "Yeah. I think so" Alec's mouth curved into a smile. "And I also think my luck just got started" **** Alec could not wait to get home to focus on his new phone. All that was on his mind was to log in to his account quickly to see what the system had said to him. "Thanks bro" He appreciated Jeremy. "Thanks for bringing me here, I really appreciate it, man" Jeremy patted his back in a brotherly manner. "It's no problem, man, don't mention" Alec couldn't help but have his thought wander to the system and everything he acquired today. Power of the strength. Power of money. If he really had that money like the system had said, then he would be able to pay for his phone without issues, he would be able to help his dad and ... "Wait, dad?" He blinked repeatedly "Holy shit!" He cursed as he remembered how his dad would be worried sick for not been able to see or communicate with him for days. "I gotta go," He said fastly. "Or my dad's gonna kill me." He whispered loudly, taking swift steps forward. "Alec, wait!" Jeremy yelled and he halted. He turned to Jeremy "Yeah?" "Welcome to the team, bro." A smile stretched Alec's lips. He gave a nod that showed his appreciation and dashed out. **** Alec stared at his dad as he got himself busy with making dinner for two people—him and his son. An unpleasant feeling settled in Alec's stomach as he thought about how his father would have been making dinner for two, all these while only for him not to show up. He was certain his father had gotten very worried about him, hoped, prayed and had more hope that he would come home soon. "Hi, dad" He greeted, heading towards the kitchen. He had a feeling his father had known about his presence the moment he arrived but he was just been calm and casual about it. "Hi, dad" Alec greeted the second time and needed no soothsayer to tell him his dad was mad at him. "Alexander Todd, Welcome back home" He said sarcastically and turned to Alec "Young man, you've got lots and lots of explaining to do" "I'm sorry, dad" He apologized. "I said lots of explaining, I didn't ask for an apology" Mr Todd said, using his stern voice. Alec swallowed as he does not know what to tell his dad. 'I got beaten blue and black, died, and woke up after fifty four hours?' Alec shook his head. He can't tell his father a story like that. He would freak out and shriek. 'I got my superpowers today. And yeah....I am now rich, I have one billion dollars in my bank account' His father would never believe that. Or worse, he would think his son was going insane, especially because of the 'superpower' part. No, especially because of the 'one billion dollars' part. "Now you're suddenly quiet" Mr Todd's voice said a lot about how he was ready to scold Alec. "You were out for three days, Alexander, three good days and...." "I went job hunting" Alec lied in a rush. "What?" He wore a deeper frown. "Job hunting, dad" Alec repeated with a low voice. "Job hunting? Job hunt....." Alec's dad trailed off and scoffed "For three days Alexander? three fucki...freaking days?" Alec smiled at his dad's effort not to use a curse word. "Oh now it's funny to you!" His dad snapped. "I'm sorry, dad" He apologized again. "To get a good job, I had to check everywhere in the city since I was desperate, and I finished up with everything very late at night so I slept at a friend's place" Alec explained in lies. "Is that why you could not send a single text or give me a phone call?" "Dad, I'm...." "No text!" He snapped, cutting Alec off. "No phone call! Nothing....hold on a sec..." He narrowed his eyes at his son "You look different" "Yeahhhh," Alec chuckled "I feel like my luck is getting really on today, so I am so happy" "Obviously" He smiled at his son, his anger forgotten in a second. He opened his mouth to talk, but before he could utter a single word, Alec spoke up. "I need to go, I have assignments" He lied again. He only wants to avoid his dad's numerous questions. "Alec" His dad called him before he could completely disappear from the room. "Yeah dad?" He gave his dad his attention. "You didn't exactly tell me if you got the job or not" "I...." His mouth was opening but he wasn't talking. "I got the job" Mr Todd grinned, impressed. "What type of job is it?" "Uh...a....a...." Alec stuttered causing his dad to raise his brows. "An assistant to an assistant's assistant in a big company" He lied again. "What?" Mr Todd questioned, confused. "I'll be an assistant to an assistant's assistant in the big company" The man hung his head, staring in puzzlement at his son and reprocessing everything he said. "Dad, I really need to go now" Alec said urgently, skipping away to his room. Mr Todd, still in a confused state, faced the kitchen counter and soliloquized. "An assistant to an assistant's assistant?" **** Alec was now standing in the middle of his small bedroom, his new phone in hand and his eyes fixed on the screen. "No way...." He muttered, still staring at the screen, expecting the numbers to change to all zeroes. "It's gonna change soon, I know. I mean, I can't just get rich? Right? Right?" He breathed out "Right." He paced the room. "I'm not gonna look at the phone now. Nah." He whispered holding the new device tightly. "The numbers are gonna change soon" He said to himself without looking at the screen of the phone. He did one more pacing and finally brought the phone to his face. His eyes widened. "Holy, shit!" He exclaimed, his heart pounding. "It's real!" He blinked repeatedly. "It is fucking real" He whispered "One billion dollars"Latest Chapter
153...Control over everything...
Kara turned to Jeremy and smiled at him. "Thanks for following me home."Jeremy smiled back at her. "It's no problem." Then he added in a breath. "We're only following orders."Kara smiled softly. "And you too uhh....""Zara" Zara filled in her name smartly, wearing a gentle smile, opposite of her personality."Zara," Kara pronounced and nodded."Yeah. Like Kara and Zara. Zara and Kara" Jeremy grinned playfully. "Man, that shit is cool."Zara wasn't smiling. "It was cool until you turned it to a song." Kara chuckled softly. She glanced around the area quickly. "So uhm...." She coughed meaningfully. "Alec is really not coming?"Jeremy and Zara exchanged looks, their eyes widened. "No, he's not coming" Zara quickly answered. "But why?" Kara whispered sadly. Jeremy and Zara kept quiet. "Why did he suddenly leave?" She asked them quietly, her eyes glummy. Zara scratched the back of her neck, clearing her throat unnecessarily. Jeremy looked like he was going to get traumatized as he
152...A bad decision...
"Now....shall we?" "You need to mind your business and leave!" One of the men shouted angrily. "This is my business," Blitz replied calmly but his tone still had something deadly in it. "I’ll leave after I take care of it."All four men snarled as they stared at Blitz for a moment, and the next moment, they were all rushing him at once. Alec didn't move immediately. He shook his head lightly, watching and calculating carefully. "Too slow" he muttered as he stepped in, grabbed the nearest man by the collar, and yanked him forward, right into the incoming punch of another. The impact snapped the man's head back, dropping both of them in a tangled heap.Alec was already turning. The third man swung wildly. Alec tilted his head just enough for the punch to slice past his face, then drove a sharp punch into the man’s ribs. The force folded him instantly. The fourth barely had time to react before Alec shoved him hard into the wall. The impact echoed as his body hit and slid down, collap
151... Operational role...
Alec exhaled slowly when Xander’s voice echoed in his head. A faint crease formed between his brows as he wondered quietly; What is it this time?Kara, who was unaware of what was happening internally, gazed at him worriedly. "Are you okay, Alec?""Yeah" Alec gave a quick, short nod. "Are you sure?" Kara pressed. "I mean you just suddenly pulled back, is everything okay? Does anywhere hurt?" She asked concernedly, her eyes trailing over his face, to his arms down to those hands that punched the life out of Milo. She ran her gaze over him. "A....Alec?" Amazement written over her expression."It’s gone," she said, almost to herself. "The bruising… the cuts… they were there. I saw them." Her eyes snapped back to his. "Your skin...it's appearing like it healed."Alec pressed his hands down on her shoulders but he was careful not to let his weight pull her down. "You’re still processing what happened, still shaken up," he said calmly, his gaze locking onto hers with quiet intensity. "You
150...Too much blood...
Alec wasn't going to stop anytime soon. That was dangerous, not only for Milo but for Alec himself. What was more dangerous? Alec wasn't thinking about the dangers. In fact, he wasn't thinking at all. "TEN!!!" The crowd shouted the number.Alec's fist came down again. Strong in a way that made it more brutal. Milo's head snapped to the side, blood already marking his lips, his face swelling fast.Alec grabbed him by the front of his shirt and dragged him up like he weighed nothing. For a second Milo's feet barely touched the ground. With a growl, Alec drove him back. Hard. Milo's back slammed against the metal cage wall with a loud, violent sound that made the whole structure shake."ELEVEN!!!" The crowd roared.Alec didn't give him time to breathe as another punch came down on him. The another one....and another....and another....Alec's knuckles were red, stained with too much force and too much blood...from Milo. But Alec did not feel it. Milo tried to fight back, tried to l

Alec's hair fell across his eyes, partially covering those green orbs, but he could still see her. Feel her. He didn't need to touch her to feel the connection. Eye contact was enough. Just one, deep eye contact. She pressed both hands against the cage, like she could reach through steel if she tried hard enough. "Alexander" She called in a soft voice now. He was weak. Too weak to move his mouth, to weak to produce words, even his throat was weak, but he could still breathe her name. "Jenny." He opened his mouth to say more. He wanted to ask, ask her what she was doing, why she would come down here despite telling her not to. He turned his head down again, his damp hair following the movement. Letty pressed harder against the cage, showing her desperation to reach him and have direct physical contact with him. "Alexander, look at me!" She ordered. Alec obeyed slowly, meeting her fierce but tender gaze. "You need to get up" Letty told him firmly. "Okay? You need to do something
148...How you wanna play it...
Alec's stare dragged slowly from one man to another."I am supposed to fight with Milo" He said."This is how you fight with me" Milo replied remorselessly. "That's cheating!" Jeremy yelled from where he stood.Milo grinned. "You wanna back out now, Alec?"Alec's jaw ticked. "This is supposed to be a fair fight."Milo laughed. "So you think this is not fair?""One man" Alec said firmly. "One against one.""You're scared now?""No!" He barked, his neck muscles tensed. "But you are playing dirty, Milo""Warned him" Jeremy mumbled. "I warned him Milo plays dirty""This is me playing clean...and if you don't like it," He stepped forward. "That's your problem. But know that you can't back out now even if you tried.""If this is how you wanna play it, then fine."Alec's eyes moved quickly between the five giants closing in on him, not panicking, just reading them, counting steps, angles, weight, who would strike first and who would hesitate. These were not random fighters. These were Milo'
