The Beginning.

SLAP! SLAP!!

The sound of a palm landing heavily on Xavier's cheek resonated the whole coffee shop from the counter table, the slap was loud enough to catch the attention of customers who sat around inside the shop.

"You fool! You are nothing but a piece of sh*t! How many times have I told you to be attentive to the orders of the customers?" A short potbellied man spat in rage as he vented on Xavier who stood before him behind the counter table.

Murmurs and whispers filled the place as the customers witnessed the scene unfold before them.

And amidst the the murmurs and whispers of disapproval towards Xavier, the pit-pat sound of the heavy rain hitting relentlessly on the roof of the spacious coffee shop filled the whole place.

Now was the time Xavier was supposed to make a coffee delivery, but it was still raining and pouring heavily.

He had purposely delayed in the hopes that the rain would stop soon but it didn't, if anything, it only got heavier.

And that one decision of delaying delivery for the rain to stop had earned him a slap and a query from his manager.

But how was he supposed to make delivery with the weather being this way.

Xavier, a young man of twenty-seven years, tall and with a nice body build. Dark hair and eyes, his thin lips red and his perfect nose were pointy and made his already good looks even perfect, Xavier could be described as someone who was born on the wrong side of the tracks.

He was a wretched young man barely surviving, but his handsome face barely fits his status. People who saw him would usually say he was mistakenly born into a poor family.

"Why are you still standing there? Hurry up now and get this coffee delivered immediately!" John, the manager of the coffee shop ordered in clear anger.

John kept his hands akimbo, he stared in disgust at the sloppiness of his delivery boy who could not even carry out the one single task he was assigned to.

He was barely living off the money he earned from this shop, yet this young man only had plans of ruining his business and chasing away his customers.

John hissed and walked past Xavier who rubbed gently on his right cheek which was now as red as a ripe tomato due to the heavy slap from his boss.

Xavier glared at the floor and bowed slightly even though John was no longer standing there, as a gesture that he understood and would do as he was told to.

He quickly arranged the cups of coffee and pastries inside the delivery box and walked out of the counter. He headed outside where the rain was pouring heavily and was nowhere near stopping.

This was one of his bad days working as a delivery boy, he sighed deeply as the wind blew the rain towards him where he stood beside his bicycle under the shade of the shop.

With his jaws clenched, one from the cold and another from anger and frustration, he arranged the delivery box in the right place on the bicycle and mounted on it, ready to make a quick delivery to its rightful owner.

This was Xavier Stone's daily life as a delivery boy just to make a living and clear up his debts.

During the hot weather, where the sun was blazing hot, Xavier was always seen on his old wreck of a bicycle going to make deliveries.

It was the same during winter and maybe worse. And it wasn't any less better during the raining season.

With his body already drenched, he rode the bicycle under the rain while hoping the coffee wouldn't get cold before it got to its owner.

With so much speed, he rode down the streets and past neighbourhoods. He needed to work hard and even harder on daily basis to pay up his debts and provide for his daily needs.

Just three months ago, he had lost his little sister, the only family he had left after his parents died of an illness.

And whenever he thought about the loss of his only family, he felt so much pain and rage but he didn't know what to vent his anger on.

He had been so concentrated with working everyday that he wasn't there to protect his little sister from that car accident that took her life, if only he was there to pick her up from school, maybe, just maybe...

But deep down within himself, Xavier had already sworn to acquire wealth, to become as wealthy as anything wealthy and to gain power to control things the way it should be and the way he wanted them to be.

Though it sounded difficult and somewhat absurd, he had promised to make that dream come true.

If he would clear up his student loan, the debt his parents left him with and pay up the money he used for his sister's burial arrangements, he would begin to get a clearer path afterwards, that, he was sure.

Few minutes under the rain that was still not stopping, Xavier was now so drenched that he could barely see but he rode on anyways.

And apart from the fact that he could barely see from the rain, he was also very cold and was shivering with his teeth clattering together.

At the moment, due to the heavy downpour, no car could be seen taking this route and that was logical considering the risk of driving when it was heavily pouring.

But Xavier was proved wrong when in his limited vision, he caught sight of a car ahead, he could see the headlights of the car going off and then on, which was unusual but right now, he had more important things to deal with than to bother about a car under the rain.

With his mind set and determined to finish with his delivery without being distracted, Xavier was ready to glide past the car when his eyes caught sight of the cars abnormalities.

The car was in so much ruins from the side angle and it was difficult for him to just ignore and ride past and so, he stopped the bicycle and looked at the car for a while and one thought crossed his mind, an accident.

An accident had occurred, that was the only explanation that could be given. And from the looks of the car, Xavier could tell it was no ordinary person that owned this car.

That could mean the life of an important person was in danger. However... important person? Xavier thought, it wasn't like there was anyone on this planet whose life wasn't important.

And at that moment, a second thought crossed his mind, why bother about this rich person when the chances of help coming for him was hundred percent.

Xavier was ready to keep moving when his conscience hit him like a hard rock.

How could he leave someone who could be dying just because of status? No way! That wasn't like him but then, he needed to make an urgent delivery or he might loose his job.

What to do?

Xavier was very much sure that someone was inside this car, there was no way he was letting someone die out here. But his job...
