The sky was overcast, veiled by soft gray clouds as Bao Fang gently lowered Yu Bin to the sword, enlarging its surface with a pulse of spiritual energy. The wind whispered around them, carrying with it the damp scent of morning mist and the rustle of distant trees.
Yu Bin blinked, confused. “Master… are you telling me you could make this sword bigger all along? And I had to ride in your arms like a baby?” Bao Fang chuckled, the sound light and teasing. “Yes.” Yu Bin’s eyes narrowed. “Why?” “It’s easier,” her master replied with a nonchalant shrug. “How is that easier? Carrying someone in your arms is definitely harder than just expanding a sword!” Bao Fang gave her a sly smile. “Making it bigger requires more spiritual energy. Carrying you saves my energy.” “But you’re strong!” Yu Bin argued, her voice rising with disbelief. “You wouldn’t even feel the difference.” “Yes, and strong people also like to conserve energy.” Bao Fang smirked. Yu Bin sighed in defeat and sat down on the blade, her limbs heavy. “I’m so sleepy…” Bao Fang's expression softened as she knelt beside her. “Sleep. I’ll carry you from here.” “Thank you, Master…” Yu Bin murmured, and let her head rest gently on Bao Fang’s chest. The warmth and heartbeat beneath her ear reminded her of a comfort long forgotten—one she rarely allowed herself to need. They soared through the sky, silent but for the whisper of wind and the soft rhythm of Yu Bin’s breathing. When they finally reached the cabin, Bao Fang roused her gently, carried her inside, and began to prepare a space for her to rest. A simple mattress, a soft blanket, and two pillows. She tucked Yu Bin in like a child, her gaze lingering just a moment longer on the girl’s sleeping face. So much had changed. While Yu Bin slept, Bao Fang cooked a small meal, the smell of warm herbs and rice filling the dusty room. When the food was ready, she woke her student. “You should eat and go back to sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day,” Bao Fang said, her voice softer than usual. “Okay, Master,” Yu Bin answered quietly, rubbing her eyes. Her obedience surprised even herself. Bao Fang smiled, patting her head with a rare tenderness. “Good girl.” “Master… sleep beside me tonight?” Yu Bin asked, a hint of vulnerability in her voice. “This place… it feels like it might fall down. I don’t want to be alone.” Bao Fang didn’t hesitate. “I’ll be right here.” Yu Bin smiled—genuinely, sleepily—and with her master at her side, she drifted into dreams once more. --- When morning came, sunlight streamed faintly through the broken shutters, casting long beams across the dusty floor. Yu Bin stirred, her body aching slightly as she turned over, expecting to see Xian Chen’s sleeping face beside her. But he wasn’t there. Reality hit like cold water. She blinked, confused at first, then remembered: she had left the city. Left behind the warmth of that strange, tangled bond with him. The magic rope no longer bound them. Only memory remained. Across the room, Bao Fang was preparing breakfast. “If you’re awake, go outside and wash up. Then come eat. We start training today,” her master said, without looking back. Yu Bin yawned. “Don’t we have a bath inside?” Bao Fang snorted. “Be grateful I fetched water this morning. Starting tomorrow, you’ll go down to the river. That’s your training ground, and your bath. Might as well get used to it.” Yu Bin groaned. “Fine. Come help me undress then.” A pause. “What?” Bao Fang turned slowly. “You want me to undress you?” Yu Bin blinked. “You’re my master! You’re supposed to help with morning routine, right?” “Oh, I see. Morning routine...” Bao Fang’s eyes gleamed with mischief. “Well, you are a princess. And you are beautiful...” Yu Bin froze. The teasing tone. That devilish smile. “Nope. Nope. I’m out.” She leapt up, snatched her clothes, and bolted outside. Bao Fang laughed heartily behind her. Outside, Yu Bin struggled through her first solo bath. The water was freezing, and her inexperience made the task clumsy and miserable. When she returned, still dripping and teeth chattering, Bao Fang took one look and nearly choked. “Is this your first time bathing alone?” “Yes,” Yu Bin muttered. Bao Fang sighed, then helped her dry off, dressed her in fresh clothes, and tied her hair into a neat ponytail. “You look like a real cultivator now,” her master said, gently tugging a loose strand forward. They ate together in silence. Then, Bao Fang stood. “It’s time. Today, you begin cultivating with the river.” --- The river was a vision of serenity—crystal clear waters, trees arching above like guardians, birds singing softly in the canopy. Yu Bin gasped. “It’s so beautiful here, Master.” She ran toward the water, laughing. “Careful!” Bao Fang called, but it was too late. Yu Bin stepped into the river… and shrieked. “COLD! COLD! MASTER IT’S FROZEN!” Bao Fang laughed until her sides ached. “Told you.” “You want me to train in that?!” “And sleep in it sometimes.” Yu Bin stared, horrified. “You’re trying to kill me.” Bao Fang smirked. “If I wanted you dead, you’d already be floating face down.” Yu Bin groaned, but even as she complained, something stirred inside her. The river called to her. Cold, yes. But pure. Ancient. Alive. She stepped forward again, trembling but determined. And so, her training began. Not in grandeur or comfort, but with cold water, trembling limbs, and a fire that refused to go out.

I Will Stay By Your Side
"Old man, Do you think I'm a bad person ?" Ming Fang asked, somehow disturbed by Yu Bin's and Xian Chen's reactions a few hours ago. "Why do you think so?" The old man asked, turning around and staying down on the chair beside Ming Fang. They were reaching their home not so long ago and he was preparing some food for them but Ming Fang's troubled voice made him stop whatever he was doing and stayed down beside her. "Their reaction, don't you find it strange? The young girl was looking really scared when she first saw my face, like… she was looking like she saw her worst nightmare. In the beginning, I thought that I scared her because she was lost in thought and I suddenly appeared but then when the man appeared he was looking like he was ready to fight me. " Ming Fang answered, thinking about what happened. " Jiayi, there is no bad person in this world. We might do things that in our mind are ok but are looking bad for others, but that doesn't mean we are bad." "What about the k
