The ground split wider beneath Jonah’s feet, the crack racing across the ridge and throwing dirt and stone into the air.

Survivors screamed, clutching each other as the earth buckled. Children cried, even the strongest among them faltered at the sight of the Hive’s true body rising higher, its countless faces twisted in agony, hunger, and hate.

The creature was too vast to comprehend. Its body stretched beyond the treeline, blocking out the pale dawn.

Black rivers spilled from its wounds, flooding the land and giving birth to more half-formed horrors. Its claws, larger than towers, dug into the soil as it pulled itself forward.

Each movement made the earth groan like it was being torn apart. The Hive’s voice rolled across the forest, deeper and sharper than thunder. “We are here. We are endless. And you, Jonah Crest, are ours.”

The survivors dropped to their knees, hands pressed over their ears. The voice was not just sound; it was inside their skulls, rattling their bones, tearing

The city trembled long after the light faded. Dust and smoke drifted across the ruins like low clouds, carrying the smell of metal and ash. Every surface still glowed faintly red, breathing in slow pulses. It felt as though the ground itself was alive, listening.Lisa pulled herself from the rubble, coughing hard. Her hair clung to her face, her hands were bleeding, and her lungs burned from the heat that lingered in the air. Beside her, Kevin crawled out from under a sheet of broken metal, his small face streaked with grime and fear. “Lisa,” he whispered, “it happened again.”She nodded weakly. “I know.”The crater where the tower had stood was gone now, replaced by a swirling field of red dust and shifting light. The Hive’s hum was different. Slower. Deeper. Each vibration carried a strange rhythm, like a heartbeat echoing from the earth itself.Dalton shouted from nearby, his voice hoarse. “Everyone still breathing, sound off!”A few faint replies came from the wreckage. The su

Night didn’t fall anymore. The red light of the sky stayed, even when the sun should have set. It pulsed faintly over the broken skyline, glowing through the mist like the slow beat of a heart. Every time the light throbbed, the air trembled, and a low sound rolled through the ground, like distant thunder, or breathing.Lisa sat beside a dying campfire near the edge of the bridge. The others, the few survivors they’d found, slept in a circle, wrapped in blankets, rifles close to their hands. Kevin lay beside her, his head resting against her shoulder, already drifting into uneasy dreams.Dalton, the soldier, kept watch a few meters away, his rifle balanced across his knees. The firelight flickered across his face, showing deep lines of exhaustion and quiet fear. For a while, no one spoke. The only sounds were the wind and the faint, rhythmic hum that never stopped. Then Dalton said quietly, “You really think it’s him?”Lisa stared into the fire. “I know it is.”Dalton’s eyes narrowe

  • Chapter 120. The World That Burned

When the light faded, the city was no longer a city. It was a graveyard of glass and flame.Lisa lay flat on the ground, her body aching, her ears ringing. She couldn’t tell if she was breathing at first. The air was hot, sharp with smoke, and the taste of ash coated her tongue. All around her, the sky burned red, not with fire, but with light. The air itself glowed faintly, pulsing like a heartbeat. She turned her head. Beside her, Kevin was lying still, his small hand gripping her sleeve even in unconsciousness. For one awful second, she thought he wasn’t breathing. Then his chest rose and fell, slow but steady. “Kevin,” she whispered, shaking him gently. “Hey. Wake up, honey.”He groaned softly and opened his eyes. “Lisa…?” His voice was weak. “Where are we?”Lisa looked around, though she didn’t know how to answer. The street they had been standing on no longer existed. In its place was a wide scar through the earth, deep, black, glowing faintly at the edges. The buildings arou

  • Chapter 119. The Nest Awakens

The wind over the ruined city was hot and heavy, like air coming from a furnace. The sky burned orange-red, and the clouds above looked as if they were on fire. From the heart of the city, strange beams of light shot into the sky, twisting, glowing, moving like living things. Every now and then, a low, deep sound rumbled through the ground, as if the world itself was breathing.Lisa opened her eyes slowly. The taste of dust filled her mouth. For a moment, she didn’t remember where she was. The last thing she recalled was the shaking ground, the collapse, and Jonah’s blazing form vanishing into the storm of fire and Hive flesh. Now, she was lying on cracked pavement, her clothes torn, her hands shaking. “Kevin…?” her voice cracked.Something moved beside her. Kevin groaned softly and sat up, his small face pale under the layer of dirt. “Lisa?” he whispered, looking around in fear. “What… What happened? Where’s Jonah?”Lisa tried to answer but her throat tightened. She glanced towar

The wind rose without warning. One moment the night was still, and the next it was roaring like a living thing.Lisa woke first. She sat up inside the overturned truck, heart racing. The air hummed like electricity. Outside, the red fog had thickened, swirling across the ground in heavy waves. Each gust carried tiny sparks that glowed when they touched metal. “Rae,” Lisa whispered. “Wake up.”Rae stirred, then frowned. “It’s starting again, isn’t it?”Lisa nodded. Kevin was already awake, his small face lit faintly by the glow outside. He was staring out the window. “Lisa… it’s calling.”The words chilled her. “What’s calling, Kevin?”He didn’t blink. “The fire.”Before she could ask more, the ground began to shake. The metal shell of the truck groaned. Ellis hit his head trying to sit up. “What the hell?”The red storm hit them like a wave. Lightning slammed into the street, carving long, glowing lines through the concrete. The sky split open with light so bright it turned everythi

Lisa walked at the front of the group, boots crunching over glass and ash. Kevin followed close beside her, clutching her hand. His small face was pale and tired, eyes half-closed from exhaustion.Behind them, Rae and Ellis dragged their feet, too quiet. No one had really spoken since the chamber collapsed. The air itself seemed to whisper now, like every ruined wall and twisted wire remembered Jonah’s voice. The world had changed overnight, aAnd none of them knew how much worse it would get.Lisa stopped beside a half-fallen traffic light. Its green bulb flickered weakly, the light twitching between green and red every few seconds. She stared up at it, lost in thought.Rae finally broke the silence. “You know it’s useless, right? That thing’s been blinking for hours. The city’s dead.”Lisa looked back at her. “Then why does it still have power?”Rae shrugged. “Hive veins under the ground. It’s feeding everything. We should keep moving before it finds us again.”Lisa didn’t argue. Sh
