The clone stepped from the black pod, bare feet silent on the metal floor. Every movement was deliberate, heavy with controlled strength. His eyes, Jonah’s eyes, glowed a deep, burning red.

Micah muttered under his breath from across the room, “Well…that’s new.”

Olos’s voice cut through the tension, smooth and certain. “I present, Alpha Jonah. Faster. Stronger. No limits.”

“That is exactly what I want,” Silas replied coldly. “The giant’s power comes from his desire to protect his camp. If we wipe the camp off the map entirely, his heart will break. His power will fail. He will be easy to harvest.”Silas’s voice grew louder. It was filled with cruel, terrible excitement. “Alpha Unit,” Silas called out over the radio. “Are you connected to this channel?”A new voice answered. But it was not a normal voice. It was a deep, guttural, vibrating roar. It sounded like a massive beast trying to speak human words through a throat full of blood and broken glass.“I... AM... AWAKE...” the terrible voice rumbled. The sound was so awful that Elena covered her ears.“Alpha Unit,” Silas ordered smoothly. “You will take a heavy strike team. You will take the heavy armor transports. You will go to the Sanctuary of the First Seed.

Jonah understood. He reached out his massive right hand. The thick iron scars on his skin were dark and quiet. He closed his eyes. He thought about the danger his family was in. He forced the Undying Will skill to wake up just a tiny bit.A faint, freezing silver light began to glow on his fingertips.Jonah pressed his glowing silver finger directly against the exposed wires of the black box. He was acting as a living battery. He pushed a tiny drop of his pure, kinetic energy into the machine. The black box reacted violently.Bright purple and silver sparks exploded into the air. The black box shook on the table. The purple magic fought against Jonah’s silver light. It was a battle of computer codes inside the wires."Hold it steady, giant!" Lisa yelled over the loud buzzing sound. "I am breaking their encryption!"Lisa’s fingers flew across the dials of the old military radio. She

Thick, dark purple wires stuck out of the black box. The wires were pushed deep into the white bone, connecting the machine directly to where the assassin's brain used to be.On the front of the black metal box, a tiny, sick purple light blinked very slowly."It is a cybernetic implant," Jonah said softly. His deep voice filled with a cold, terrible dread. "General Silas did not just give his soldiers magical guns. Silas put the magic directly inside their heads."Kevin shivered. He looked at the blinking purple light. "The man was a machine, Dad. Silas turned him into a robot."Jonah reached out his massive hand. He gently took the piece of bone and the black box from his son.The tiny purple light blinked again."It is still working," Jonah said. He turned the box over in his thick fingers. "It survived the explosion because it is made of compressed Mana. It is a piece of the System.""But w

The morning sun tried to shine. It was very weak. The pale light pushed through the falling gray ash and the thick white snow.Jonah walked up the steep mountain path. His heavy boots crunched loudly in the deep snow. The storm was finally over. The howling whiteout blizzard had stopped. The air was perfectly, totally silent. But it was still freezing cold.Jonah wore a thick, dark winter coat he had taken from the broken trucks. He left it open at the chest. The thick, dark iron scars on his skin were cold now. The bright silver fire from the Undying Will had faded away. He was just a giant human man again. He held his massive, forty-pound iron sledgehammer in his right hand. The weapon was not fused to his arm right now. He had commanded the magic to let go. He wanted to hold it like a normal tool.Kevin walked right beside him. The young giant held his custom-made iron mace. His one good eye looked around the quiet, froze

The silver beam tore across the dark valley. It cut a massive, perfectly clear tunnel straight through the screaming whiteout blizzard. It moved faster than light. It turned the falling snow into hot, dry vapor instantly. Two miles away, on top of the rusted water tower. Unit 4 was looking through his broken scope. The assassin had watched his perfect, explosive bullet hit the giant. He expected to see the concrete building shatter. He expected to see the giant fall to his knees and weep.Instead, the assassin saw the giant catch the bullet.Unit 4’s robotic, emotionless brain froze. The magical System inside his head could not process the data.[ERROR. PHYSICS VIOLATION DETECTED.][TARGET HAS ABSORBED LETHAL PAYLOAD.]The assassin saw the giant turn around. He saw the giant point the glowing iron hammer directly at him.Unit 4 did not have time to run. He did not have time to

A normal human brain cannot even process a thought in zero point four seconds. A normal human eye cannot even see a supersonic bullet flying through the air.But Jonah was no longer just a normal human. He and his weapon were one single, perfect, living machine powered by absolute love.Jonah did not think. He did not calculate. He simply moved. His reflexes were instantaneous.Jonah spun his massive body around. He faced the concrete building. The glowing purple bullet screamed through the air. It entered the courtyard. It was only ten feet away from the thick concrete wall. It was a blinding, hot streak of death.Jonah stepped directly into the path of the bullet. He swung his massive right arm. He swung the forty-pound iron sledgehammer like a baseball bat. He did not swing it wildly. He swung it with microscopic, flawless, impossible precision. The heavy, flat iron head of the hammer moved through the
